The terrible and rude service is enough of a reason not to come here. I had the green tofu curry and it was just mediocre. The vegetables barely had variety until I paid extra to add mushroom. Avoid this place and go to I Thai

Great service, great food and a nice relaxed ambiance. I am a very picky eater but I decided to take a chance and try real sushi for the first time… I am so glad that I tried it here. The Dynamite sushi was delicious!!! And super spicy but full of flavor. I highly recommend it. I was in a fairly large party, our waitress was very polite, attentive, and helpful. I will definetly come back here to try new sushi… especially their Redskin rolls!!!

I checked on Unilocal reviews before I went, I will give myself a try although the reviews quoted that service is terrible, I love Thai foods so I came for lunch. Foods is good and good portion ! But, the server are cool attitude no smile at all, they didn’t come back to check on you n didn’t mention the«THANKYOU» when she(Osuka) passed u the check! They really needs to have a good training before they go to the floor to serve customers! It’s a shame to the owner as so many customers review the«bad» service in your restaurant !

The worst service I ever had when dine in a restaurant. No smiles, no checking back with customers what they need !? No welcoming greeting or recommend the Specials. They are order takers and not servers. Not saying thank you when presenting check or when we left. The only consolation is the foods is okay!

I order from here all the time. It’s my go to delivery spot for quick and easy Thai and Asian, though the prices are pretty high. The fried rice and pad Thai portions are massive. I have to gripe about the Panang curry with chicken that I recently received. I received an entire bowl full of chicken with zero vegetables at all, so I was just eating chicken with sauce. If I’m paying for a dinner entrée, I expect more variety and diversity in the dish.

I will start with giving Mai Thai chances after chances because I will only give credit to the chefs. Service, well very annoying. Some of the waitress are very rude and I’m really sure if they understand English but SOME don’t know how to communicate. Either who ever hired them hired them for their looks but not by their ability to give good service. I’ve noticed they don’t really care if they give service or not. Once they bring you your lunch or dinner, they don’t return if your ok. Does it mean they shouldn’t get any tip or what? I don’t want to be rude but Golly give me a reason to tip you what you deserve. Maybe they need costumer service training or so. But what is so hard with giving good service? I really wanted to give MAITHAI more that 3 stars really, because the food is delicious. If the service change next time I return I will change my 3 stars, so management this is your duty to wake up and watch your staff. Their actions really reflects on your name so maybe management need to step up. My favorite dish here is the Duck noodle soup, if the waitress step up their duties I will def give MAITHAI4 star.

The Tom Yam Gong soup doesn’t contain coconut milk, but I still like the flavor. The size is great and really nice environment !!

I eat here several times a month at least. I have had several different dishes and they have been all been great. Good consistency as well, always a good meal.

Sushi was okay, shrimp clay pot and mussiman were sub par. Fried rice was best of the meal.

Was my second time here and I should have expected the price based on the location. Still we opted for sushi and chose our respective rolls. Not the freshest sushi taste, but then again, I guess their main focus is Thai. I got a typical veg roll which was huuuuuge. I think it defeats the purpose of sushi when a roll has to be cut down further. Sushi should be able to fit in your mouth with one bite(bite-sized). It was almost like someone sliced a Baredo(sushi burrito). Sushi should be little sized, and more in terms of volume. Not 5 jumbo sized rolls. Then I got a Mexican roll *subconsciously was thinking of burritos it seemed* and that was not the best combo. Granted the size of this was appropriate. It was a cool, new innovative idea that my friend liked. We also got spring rolls as an appetizer and they literally looked like taquitos. Tasted like subpar spring rolls. This place is just okay and it’s location makes it prime. Also local hangout for the preppy students next door.

As a lover of Thai food I’m sad to say that this place definitely underwhelmed me. The venue is big, festive, and is easily accessible by walking after a day of shopping in Georgetown or via street and garage parking. That is about the only positive thing I have to say about this place. We came for dinner and ordered papaya salad, tom yum soup, green panang curry w/chicken, and pineapple fried rice w/beef. The flavors of the papaya salad were lacking and that was the same criticism I had for all of the dishes. They were just so bland and that is an adjective I don’t usually associate with Thai food/restaurants. Idk if I’m being picky, but the pineapples in the fried rice were clearly from a can. In addition, we had two different people take our drink and food orders and neither one(or anyone else for that matter) came to refill our waters. We had to flag down one of the ladies cleaning the tables to ask for our check… it wasn’t even busy. Maybe we came on an off day, and though it’s not the worst I’ve had, they could definitely use some improvement in both food and service.

Great variety of dishes for the veggies too, with that warm Saki to wash it all down. Love it

This is a Georgetown staple. It’s not the best Thai food, but it’s honestly not so bad. The prices are fair considering the area and how big the portions are. While I do enjoy the ambiance of the place, I prefer ordering takeout because it means I can eat quicker and their togo portions are even larger. This is a great place for large parties, birthdays(they give free entrees), and it’s pretty large so there is hardly ever a wait. As a Georgetown student and resident in the neighborhood, the thai food, doesn’t really get much better than this, but I’m okay with it.

Vegetarian: they have a veg menu in the back which is excellent. I got the drunken noodle which was appropriately spicy and very delicious, though a bit too salty and sweet. We got the veg spring rolls as appetizers which were tasty but nothing to write home about Crowd: basic bitches who are eating their California roll in happy ignorance that sushi is Japanese

It’s an often crowded spot where I find the atmosphere and the cooking to be pretty decent. Never been to lunch; only dinner. Even though it can get crazy busy, it’s possible to have a cozy meal here provided you can wrangle a booth/table in the front room(it’s an odd-shaped space; dislike the back room and decline to sit there). College students abound in the evening but are well behaved. You don’t need to be dressed up or have reservations. I have mostly liked everything I’ve ever ordered here. The one knock against it is that its cuisine is somewhat Americanized. Considering it’s in Georgetown, the pricing is moderate. Overall, I think it’s a good value. My favorites: Duck noodle soup(listed under noodles/fried rice – large bowl only) Tom yum mushroom soup(listed under soup) Masaman curry(listed under house specials; the beef is truly slow-cooked) The floor crew is hard-working and efficient. Mai Thai can sometimes suffer from stuffocation, particularly at the dinner rush. My feeling about this is: when a restaurant does a brisk business, it generally means the food is satisfying. This is one of 3 locations in the DMV; the others are at Dupont Circle and at Old Town Alexandria.

I haven’t tried much on their menu. but I have to say I love their drunken noodles. They are spicy just the way I like them. My husband loves their fried rice and basil fried rice. The servers are not always attentive is the only bad part that’s why it’s a 4 star vs 5 star. We have to tag them down almost. This has happened the last 3 times we have been there.

Delicious food! Pretty inexpensive for ginormous portions. They are known for their Mexican roll which I highly recommend. Perfect place to go as a student for birthday dinners and large groups. Very accommodating staff and wide selection of drinks. Pad thai is awesome! Be warned: the avocado salad is literally an avocado… sliced… on a plate. A Georgetown staple!

First time at Mai Thai in Georgetown. A convenient place to go to if you are craving Thai and are in that area. I came here with a friend for some late night food. We showed up 1 hour before closing and the hostess was polite and seated us without a problem. Once the waitress came, she was also very polite. Customer service was on point. I ordered a Thai iced tea, tom yum soup w/chicken, and pad see ew w/chicken. The Thai iced tea was a perfect combination of tea and condensed milk. It was very refreshing. When I tried the tom yum soup, it was good, but, it could have been spicier. The pad see ew was delicious! The noodles were perfectly stir fried and the Chinese broccoli was crunchy and not soggy. The chicken was cooked well and was not dry. I didn’t see too much egg in my dish but it still tasted amazing. The portion size was big, so I had plenty of leftovers to take to work the following day! I enjoyed the food here and will come back again.

My sisters and I were looking for a place to eat dinner in Georgetown that was reasonably priced, had a nice ambiance, and was filling. This place met all our wants! We originally made reservations not knowing how busy it would be on a Friday night, but due to our Apple appointment running late we ended up being an hour late. They had no problem seating us despite our tardiness, and they were able to take our orders shortly after. The noise level was perfect: not too loud, but not too awkwardly quiet. The environment did not seem too fancy but still nice enough for a Friday night dinner. I noticed a younger crowd dines here, mainly college students in their early 20’s. But this restaurant is great for all ages and all types of occasions(girls night, date night, family night, etc.) The food was delicious, full of flavor, and came in very large portions. The customer service was attentive, and the food came relatively quick, especially being a Friday night. We really enjoyed our experience here and plan to return!

Went here while visiting friends and what a great experience, sat us immediately. Drinks were great, not crazy strong but certainly not weak. Apps were spot on and love having the sushi option too. Dinner was great and the portions were large enough to take some to go for drunk eats later.

Mai Thai is my new go to Thai restaurant in the Foggy Bottom/Georgetown area. Last night, I ordered their pad thai and pad see ew to go, and was very happy with the order! The food was ready within 10 – 15 minutes and the serving was HUGE. I ate one very large bowl full of my pad thai and was stuffed — when I looked back in the container, I had eaten MAYBE1⁄5th of the serving given. For $ 15, you definitely get a few meals out of it. Both dishes were very flavorful and had lots of protein(something I’ve noticed other Thai restaurants skimp on).

Mai Tai is a pretty decent Thai restaurant in the Georgetown area. Since there are few Thai restaurants in Georgetown, Mai Tai was a nice change from I-Thai and Charm Thai. If you ever stop by to try their lunch menu, I think it’s pretty worth it and affordable as well.
