2 stars for the mimosas, and that’s really it. Although, I saw the reviews prior to eating here and knew that the food wasn’t the best, I didn’t think it would be that bad. I went with a group of 6, so all together the time was great, but the food and wait time was below average. It took about an hour for our food to come out, and when it did, it was cold. My boyfriend got the French toast, when his french toast came out, I immediately offered him some of my food. He received one slice of bread cut in half, and it literally looked like toast. My pancakes were cold and slightly hard, I was very taken back by the food they served. I recommend coming here for drinks with friends, I wouldn’t come here to enjoy food at all.

Bottle of champagne for 1 $ if you have a $ 10+ meal! Amazing deal. Food is not so great but nice staff and selection of Irish whiskey.

Another Unilocaler said it best: this is unequivocally the type of bar you visit at the end of a night out, when you need(want?) juuuuust one more drink. My experience in a nutshell: loud music(80’s and 90’s), great selection of whiskeys– page after page of options, loved the barrels adorning the far wall, clean bathrooms, interacted with a very friendly bartender, a handful of rowdy folks who needed to be cut off.

BRUNCHREVIEW Let me premise this low rated review by saying that I first visited Irish Whiskey for brunch a year ago and had a great time. I still remember my meal– very large saddlebag pancakes, a side of fruit, plus a bottle of champagne to myself and a shared carafe of OJ. The saddlebags were great– a combination of salty bacon, spicy sausage, and sweet maple syrup. The fruit was a large size of various melons. While the $ 1 champagne bottle special still lives on, the quality of the food and the service went way down since my initial visit. My friend made a reservation for Sunday at 1:45 for her birthday. We did not get seated until 2:15. While our server brought us out champagne bottles before we even asked or ordered our entrees, he did not come to take our food orders for a while, and we did not get begin to get our food until 3:30(I say that because half our table got their food at 3:30 and the rest of us got our food at 3:45). While the restaurant was busy when we arrived, it was not crowded around 3 when we expected our food to arrive. Some people from the group peered into the kitchen and noticed that it was small and/or understaffed. I ordered the house omelette(corned beef hash, scallions, cheddar, with home fries) and I told my boyfriend to get the saddlebag entrée(3 pancakes topped with 2 fried eggs). My omelette was dry, and I could hardly taste any corned beef or cheddar. It tasted like the omelette had been reheated. My boyfriend’s entrée(which I had hyped up due to my previous experience) was not well-received. The pancakes were tiny, and there was no bacon in them. They also did not taste fresh. They came with a tiny cup of syrup that was ice-cold. Also, my friend had a side of fruit with her egg white omelette, and she received a pitiful 3 pieces of white-looking melons. Overall, the food was extremely disappointing, especially given the long wait. Will not be back for brunch until things improve.

To me, Irish Whiskey is the kind of bar you go to at the end of the night after all the other bars are closed. There isn’t much special about it, except for the fact that it stays open much later than any of the surrounding bars in the area. I haven’t been here for happy hour or earlier in the day, but at night is when this place is good. Especially across the street at Teddy and the Bully bar and some of the other restaurants around the downtown area, not much is open on the weekdays past 10pm or so. Irish Whiskey really fills that niche. Drinks are relatively cheap and straightforward, and there’s normally one bartender on duty till late. It’s not really a crowded bar on weekdays, which is probably better than the alternative. Overall, not a bad option in the area, but I wouldn’t exactly seek it out. It’s pretty small bar.

This place sucks. The food was not good, and it came out cold. The beer was good because it wasn’t made by them. Every other bar has good beers too. Why bother to go here then? Bangers and mash were American breakfast sausage on mashed potatoes, fish & chips was frozen, dry fish, shepherd’s pie was chili with potato on top. Skip it.

Our last night in DC was spent enjoying this place for their whiskey selection. The interior is great… drab and old, just like an original Irish pub. It’s nothing to write home about by looking at the interior or exterior but we didn’t go out for that. We went out for a drink and late night snack and they delivered. The bartender was awesome and gave her personal preferences when we asked. I had the old old fashion, in which the bartender put so much work into by lighting the orange peel to help bring out the flavor, and he had a two finger pour of single barrel aged Tully. Their pretzel bites were very satisfying for us to share. We agreed it definitely topped our weekend get away off and wished we had something similar in our hometown!

Came here for Brunch with about 20 people and we had a wonderful time. This is a great spot for a large party. We had the entire top floor to ourselves with our own bartender who kept filling up our glasses with Mimosa. I left here a little tipsy, so that’s a good thing. My group had a buffet style brunch so the food was already sitting out when I got there(I was an hour late). The food was ok. Nothing special but the eggs had a weird taste.

I’ve been here a few times late last year for a drink or 4 or 5; a few. We usually start in the basement bar because it’s typically less crowded and the draft selections there seem a little better selected. However, the upstairs area is still fun. We usually end up there on Thursdays when they have live music there and the last time I was there with a group we ended up there next to Phil Kominski-at his request, not like we just forced ourselves up there. and singing along with him to a song that we requested. The rest of the time it’s not so nuts but still just as fun.

Came with two friends for drinks after work on a Thursday. We just missed happy hour(which runs 4 – 7, and seems to have some decent deals), but that’s not surprising. One friend had his Jameson, neat; another had a white wine. I initially ordered the whiskey apple cider, but they were out of cider, so I went with the Whiskey mule — which was pretty light and refreshing, very limey but not very gingery. We also ordered the spinach artichoke dip(which came with fried, not toasted, bread — $ 14, I thought a bit overpriced) and the double-dipped chips(fries — $ 5, I thought appropriate), both of which were tasty. We were only seriously considering appetizers, but at a glance over the rest of the menu, it looked like your standard bar/restaurant fare with a bit of an Irish slant. I didn’t see many vegetarian options, but that’s not surprising. We thought it was a good spot for post-work drinks, and I think we may well be back again!

Had the best experience with this place! My sister in law recently got married and we needed a place for family and friends to gather after the rehearsal dinner. We worked with the awesome staff and figured out something that worked for all of us. The bartenders were knowledgeable and helpful and the selection of whiskeys is great. Service was fast and efficient and we had a huge group. Our family loved it as well. I’d love to come back and check out the brunch!

Irish Whiskey is one of my favorite brunch places in DC! I’ve been here probably 3 times in my 2 years of living in Arlington and we brunch a lot so going back to a place more than once means it’s the real deal. Our most recent trip was the best one yet. We had a joint birthday celebration and we were able to book the second floor for about 30 people doing an all you can eat, all you can drink event for about 5 hours. We had the best freakin time. We got there a little before 11 a.m. and our two personal bartenders on the 2nd floor were already at work preparing mimosas. When I say mimosas i mean ANENTIREBOTTLEOFCHAMPAGNEWITH A DROPOFOJ. It was awesome. They killed it for 5 straight hours and I never saw empty glasses. They even made a couple special birthday drinks for our two friends. The food here was pretty good as well! I think the normal brunch deal is purchase an entrée for $ 10+ and get a bottle of champagne which is also an awesome deal. If you’re looking to do some solid drinking at a brunch you’d be remiss not to think of Irish Whiskey.

Décor and atmosphere is perfect for a bar! We sat upstairs but the place was not busy for 12:30 on a Saturday — the bar tender was very attentive. We were very disappointed with the food — the reason we came to brunch! We each ordered something different — and the only warm items on each plate were our eggs. The home fries and sides were cold and the English muffin was as hard a brick. My friend could not even cute through hers and it was part of the eggs florentine — she also mentioned that the spinach tasted like it came out of the freezer. Needless to say we won’t be back here for food but will try it for the whiskey — hoping they can do better with that since it’s what they are named for. Glad I only spent $ 19 but that was still too much in my mind.

This review is specifically for the bar and late-night eats & let me tell you, I have not been disappointed the times I’ve gone here. This is definitely a whiskey bar & if you’re a whiskey fan such as myself, this establishment will make your insides smile because there’s a bar-full of choices that will make your whiskey loving heart smile! & if you’re not sure what to get or you’re in between a few options, don’t be afraid to ask your bartender or waiter! The staff here has always been super friendly and hospitable! One time I ordered a beer to end my whiskey filled night, but they were out of the beer I originally selected and the bartender gave me several different suggestions and even let me try some. When I finally selected one, he delivered it to me and I just loved how patient he was with me! Awesome! I was also here when they started serving seasonal autumn beers *coughhhs* pumpkin *coughsssss* and honestly I thought I was going to hate it, but I’m guilty of being a beer basic and diggin’ the pumpkin beer! Haha, I say that with all the love in my heart. I don’t think you’re a basic if you love pumpkin beers. I’m a fan too. We can all be friends. Also if you’re going to get any food, I would HIGHLY recommend their pretzel bites. Deliciouuuuuuuus. I’ve also had their wings, which were also yummy but paled into comparison to their pretzel bites. So don’t question it, pretzel bites + beer + whiskey = happiness. If you haven’t been here before there’s outdoor seating(patio) & there are multiple bars(upstairs and downstairs), which keeps these different areas… well more or less crowded. However, take into consideration crowds come and go so take these tidbits with a grain of salt! Overall, I am a definite fan of Irish Whiskey Public House. It has all my favorite things: whiskey, beer, and noms! What’s not to love?

A solid, low-key bar to have a few drinks and hang out. Been here a few times with friends, both for bar crawls, and just to casually wine(in this case whiskey) and dine. Staff — waiters and bartenders — are incredibly knowledgeable not only in whiskey selections, but beer as well. It has a quiet, cozy feel to it, with TVs airing sporting events, making a good environment for conversation. Only bummer was the last time I came, their taps weren’t working, so several drinks were off the menu. Foodwise — solid choices: Fish n’ Chips — Fish was fried to perfection, and the tartar sauce had a nice little kick to it. 5⁄5 Truffle Mac n Cheese(stole a bite of my friends) — creamy and rich! so delicious. perfect dish size because any more would’ve been too much(quoted from my friend) 5⁄5. Will definitely come back though.

Paddy Devil’s Apple. Yea, no shame. This stuff was sweet and delicious, and I’ll be happy to enjoy it time and time again. I’ll take it on the rocks, neat, any way you wanna do it. I like the variety they have, so you can try as many as you like before committing to hunting down a bottle to buy for yourself. Thank you, Irish Whiskey Public House, for showing me the light. And the pretzel bites. I don’t know if I had one drink too many by the time these came to our table, but MAN these were good. They were just salty enough and a creamy dip came with it to cool down any excess salt flavor. I made the mistake of thinking I’d be able to control and have *just one* drink, but I really should have known better when it comes to whiskey.

FOOD: 4 stars DRINKS: 4 stars SERVICE: 4 stars MANAGERWHOENDEDMYBIRTHDAYPARTY: 0 stars I organized a happy hour for my birthday there, hoping to do an informal gathering. I didn’t expect more than a dozen or so people. Since I didn’t know how many people to expect, I didn’t reserve any tables.(Irish Whiskey Public House is actually 3 floors, not 2 as some reviewers wrote.) The main floor was closed for a private party, so we staked out a couple of tables at the front of the basement. Lo and behold, I got a turnout of over 20 people! Pretty soon, my friends took over the entire first half of the bar. The food was delicious, the happy hour specials were limited but not bad, and our waiter was fantastic, given the size of our crowd. Unfortunately, a lady who appeared to be the bar manager ended the party when she came over to yell at me about bringing in outside food. The full story is that my cousin brought me some soup dumplings as a birthday present and we didn’t have the intentions of eating it there. Nonetheless, this lady stomped over, yelled at me, and stomped off before I could utter a word. Within minutes, my entire party cleared out. And that is how you lose business.

Y’all. This brunch is the real deal. We called ahead on Saturday to get a reservation for Sunday brunch, and the only times they had available were 11am and 1:30pm. We opted for the later… and it wasn’t too busy. Well, we ended up staying until at least 4pm — which is totally a testament to Irish Whiskey Public House. Their special offer is that for each $ 10 spent on food, you can order an ENTIREBOTTLEOFCHAMPAGNE for $ 1. I still don’t understand how that’s mathematically possible, but it’s the #realdeal. I got the egg white omelette(with spinach and melted goat cheese inside) and a side of fruit. Friends of mine got a variety of other entrees, and after trying them all, I probably should have gone for the potatoes instead of fruit. Everyone really enjoyed what they ordered. Bathrooms are on street level and are fairly spacious. Waiter service is very prompt. With tip and everything, I paid a very reasonable $ 15. I’d highly recommend this spot!

Respectable selection of whiskey(flights or singles) for commitment-phobes looking to test-drive before shopping their own bottle. Basic Irish pub draft options, and a moderate bottle list of beers for companions afraid to grow hair on their chest. Our food was surprisingly good– my pork chop was properly tender and cooked to medium as requested, and the cheesy soufflé would have been more accurately described as potato mash but it was still tasty. Just enough jus plated to glaze the meat after slicing, and a light slaw resting under the chop to cut through the heartiness of the meal. Friendly service, dim lighting for ambiance. I’m sad to see that they’ve streamlined their food menu since my visit, but I’ll be back to try their drunken chicken, corned beef & cabbage spring rolls, bangers & mash, shepherd’s pie, truffle mac & cheese, turkey burger w/double dipped chips; Kiss Me I’m Irish, Irish sangria, bloody Maureen, For Peat’s Sake; biscuits & gravy, monte cristo, eggs Alaska, SOS, and a side of saddlebags.
