I’m really sad to see that this place closed. I thought it was a great concept, and their food was excellent.

This place was great, used to go every Friday until they suddenly closed last week. Apparently the company went out of business, they even shut down the website the same day. Good luck to all the workers, they had a good crew.

I love the pizza at Homemade Pizza Company and am so grateful for their incredible customer service. I ordered some pizzas online to be delivered to a friend. I messed up the address and then she wasn’t home when they tried to deliver. They were very understanding and kind and simply kept trying back to get the pizza delivered. Both the manager at the store and the driver were incredibly accommodating and helpful.

I love the pizza. On the other hand, I hate the website. We often get the Spinach Pie, which is delicious. The crust is terrific and the toppings are perfect. It’s better than most restaurant pizzas in DC. But the website is awful. Oh, it *looks* good, visually. But I can never log in. It always takes multiple attempts, for some reason. And today I got an email saying the order«didn’t go through» and that I had to call the store. WTF? I called them and I *think* they said it went through. I just don’t know… I love the pizzas, but the web team that made this site’s back-end needs to be taken out and shot.

For those seeking thin crust pizza in a town dominated by puffy crust pizza, Homemade is one of the best options around. Yes, you have to cook it at home and yes, you will have to experiment with your oven and cooking times but it’s well worth it. The staff are über friendly and the ingredients are fresh. The pie costs a bit more than average but, once you’ve figured out your overnight, the results are tasty and perfect for Friday night pizza at home. I love the convenience of picking it up on my way home from work and leaving it in the fridge until everyone is home and ready to eat. Better than take out or delivery because you get to eat piping hot pizza when you want, not when they decide to deliver. Until someone opens a true NY style pizza in my neighborhood, Homemade will be my choice for a Friday night.

You get what you pay for. This place is great!!! I love the pizza. Fresh ingredients and lots of variety. If you want just average pizza for a cheap price, this is not for you. If you prefer specialty pizzas then this is a place to try. The crust is so good. Read the instructions before you bake. Make sure you call ahead. Parking can be a bit of a pain. Otherwise wish there were more locations.

For that price you should expect fresh ingredients, above-average crust, and great service… don’t expect any of this. Canned ingredients, ultra-salty rubbery crust, annoyed kids working the counter… this is all very generic, low-end stuff packaged up like something special. YOU do all the work. Trust, me, you can make a better pizza yourself with Safeway ingredients for 10 bucks. Don’t fall for the hype!

Ok, the price tag is a little bit steep, it’s true, but holy amazeballs — the pizza is freaking amazing. I’ve eaten my share of DiGiorno, Little Caesar, etc, but what sets this place apart is the crust — not too thin, not too deep, and cooked perfectly in ten minutes. Had mine with mushrooms, kalamata olives, and chicken sausage, and it was divine. A worthy indulgence, at least every once in a while!

I wish I could tell you how the pizza tasted, but I never got that far. I spent $ 20 on a medium pizza, and brought it home to bake in my oven. I followed the directions, which clearly stated that you are to slide the pizza and parchment paper on to the oven rack, using the cardboard disc underneath. Unfortunately, the parchment paper stuck to the cardboard, and the pizza oozed and rolled into the oven, causing a complete mess. I now have 2 crying children, a kitchen filled with smoke, an oven that needs to be cleaned, and no dinner. When I called to tell them what happened, the guy on the other end of the phone said«Oh, I’m so sorry ma’am.» Thanks a lot, but your apology doesn’t feed my kids. I’ll just order from Papa John’s next time.

so I’ve been walking by this place for months and finally popped in to give it a try. I noticed that u have to bake the pizza @ home and its pricey but decided to give it a try anyway… and so happy I did! Their Santa Fe chicken pizza is incredible and u can’t beat the freshness of the ingredients… and pulling it fresh out of the oven. It made our apartment smell wonderful for hours! The staff is extremely pleasant and I’m committed to going at least once a week for my pizza fix! For anyone who can’t appreciate innovation and baking a pizza, maybe u should stick to traditional places like dominos.

What a disappointment! We ordered two large pizzas last night because we were having people over and we had a coupon. We ordered on-line, and asked for the pizzas to be delivered an hour and a half from the time of order. The prices were reasonable, although on the pricier side. Thirty minutes after our set delivery time, we called. It took many tries just to get through and their voice mailbox was full. Every time we got through, we were put on hold for an extended period of time. Finally, we spoke to someone who said our pizza was on the way. An hour after delivery time, we tried again and was told our pizza was with the delivery man and would get there very soon. Half an our later– the same story. TWOHOURS after the set delivery time, we got a call saying they were out of garlic(which we had ordered on our custom made pizza) and would we like something else? I was astonished. First of all, we had been told for hours that our pizza was on the way, and they were just making it TWOHOURS later, and over THREEHOURS after we placed our order. Secondly, what pizza place is out of garlic? Garlic seems like a pretty essential pizza ingredient. Once the pizza was definitely on its way, it got to us very quickly. The pepperoni pizza was good, and the pepperonis were great. The custom pizza order(tomato sauce, cheese, goat cheese, roasted red peppers, garlic) was wrong, on top of the lack of garlic. The ingredients were skimpy. The pizza was pretty good and only took ten minutes to bake after preheating time. The terrible customer service, lies, and lack of good ingredients really hurt our opinion of this place and we will not be ordering from them again. Details: We live on Conn. Ave in the delivery boundaries and ordered on a Saturday afternoon for delivery on a Saturday night.

We got some pizza from here for Family Movie Night(FMN) and it was absolutely spectacular. almost up there with Two Amys, and it is in your house. Yes. It is expensive($ 29 for two pizzas) but the quality of the ingredients, the dough, the whole thing, was absolutely tremendous. I love thin crust pizza and this is what they have — it only take 10 minutes to come good in the oven so if you are out on the porch smoking a pre-pizza cigar and not wearing your watch you better watch yourself.

I’ve tried this place twice. Pricing is expensive, but I figured for fresh ingredients and getting someone else to roll out the dough, it might be more than worth it. So the fun of this place is that they don’t cook the pizza for you. Great, can’t wait to get home and throw this in the oven! So the first pizza did not turn out very well. I thought I overcooked because the cheese was not cheesy enough. Crust was not crispy, sort of chewy, rubbery, not appetizing. At $ 15, a disappointment. So I decided to give it another shot a few months later(because I can see them making the pizza when I walk in and of course it has to be fresh this time). And I realize now it’s just not good. I tried a plain cheese and a pepperoni and it’s just not delicious. I’ll have to make my own homemade pizza.

We’ve had pizza from here three times and the only disappointment came when we and cooked two pizzas at once without following the printed instructions for doing so. RTFM, as they say. The ingredients are fresh, there’s a nice selection of toppings and combinations, and really, nothing beats the hot crunch of a pizza crust just pulled out of the oven. The salads are nothing special and I haven’t tried the cookies. The price-per-pizza aspect here is probably high given that you can get an equivalent pizza delivered for barely more money, but these pies are superior and, to my mind, you’re getting what you pay for.

I kept seeing this on Connecticut Ave. and finally decided to call in an order for delivery. I should have read some reviews first because, like with any pizza delivery I’ve had during this lifetime, I was looking for a hot pizza. You know, the one that’s in a box that you open and it’s sliced and ready to eat? It’s all in the name, right? So, I guess should have known. When I called, the guy asked for my phone number, the same way most pizza delivery places do, so they can see what was last ordered. This is a good system, but, here’s a clue on how they might someday put this technology to good use: If, when asking for the phone number, it is determined that a possible first time customer is calling, explain to them that all pizzas from Homemade Pizza Company are uncooked and delivered«ready to bake» so the uninitiated will be ready(with things like a pizza cutter… and an OVEN). The obvious tip about this place is not to order for the office. The pizza? It’s OK, but not great by any measure. You know how cold pizza is usually quite tasty? This stuff is kinda rubbery and the crust is entirely like petrified tree bark. In fact, even when it was still warm, the crust started to get really tough. I usually eat all the crust and with this pizza, there were empty pizza crusts left on the cardboard when I was done. Also, mine came with the dough folded and wrapped tightly under the cardboard circle on about an eighth of the pie. No big deal to cut of, but not the best experience. Oh, and 45 minutes to an hour for delivery? My delivery took exactly one hour and I was less than a mile away from the place, right on the same side of Connecticut Ave. Come on guys, really?

I came, I saw, I left. Let me preface this by saying that the pricing was enough to say no thank you and therefore, I did not try the food. The place is pretty cute with a nice shiny Schwinn bicycle out front. The inside décor was sleek, modern, cute, and homey. I really wanted to try the food. But, at $ 17-$ 20 a pop for the smaller size of a gourmet pizza that I still had to take home and bake… What an Insult! At least with Papa Murphy’s pizza(they make and you take home to bake), the savings is passed on to the consumer and one pays less. In my opinion, if I have to bring it home to bake it should be far less. I’ll stick to Pizza Paradiso, Vace’s, and Ella’s. I was eyeing their pear and blue cheese salad. I would have gone for that until I realized there was no meat in it. If I come by again, I’ll have to try their acclaimed $ 5 pint ice cream. Tips: –They have cookies to take home and bake –They have select flavors of ice cream — No baking here, take it home yourself

This past Friday night we gave it a 2nd try. First logged on to their website which was dead slow and crashed a number of times. Called in with an order, put on hold, which said, «don’t want to wait on hold — order on line» they finally answered with another request for me to go on hold, I declined and they took the order, but were quite confused about it. Said 20 mins it would be ready. Went up about 15 mins later, and waited about 30 mins as the shop was very busy on a Friday night. Lots of other pick ups, some people very displeased with how the inexperienced staff was handling orders. They kept asking my name, and finally in the end, it turned out my order had been ready, it was just sitting in the cooler the whole time. So in the end for $ 18 plus change, for a so-so pizza I got to cook at home, I think the next time I will go with an Armands Pizza, which is always good, usurally ready when they say, and I don’t have to bake.

Good idea well executed. A little pricey when you sit down and think about it, but sometimes the dollars are worth the quality. Worth a dollar or two if they were on the other side of Conn. for the homeward commute, but what can you do? Very friendly if not slightly chaotic service, hope they keep that aspect of it intact.

Homemade pizza just opened in chevy chase neighborhood. It’s not a restaurant where you can get to sit or take-out food ready to eat. You have to go home first and bake to eat it. I like the fact that everything used in the pizza is fresh, dough and all the ingredients and you can choose any toppings you want. But… considering the price…, I’m not sure if I would get my pizza from homemade pizza often. Depending on how many toppings you add, it can get pretty expensive. AND I have to bake it:( I think. New DiGiorno self-rising pizza, Wholefoods’ 365 pizza and Amy’s pizza are my choices if I want a home-baked pizza:) They have promotion till early January though. You get a pizza and get other stuff like salad and etc for $ 5. Oh. friendly service:) always plus.

We stopped by while walking the dog tonight and, intrigued by this new gig, stopped to browse. They menu had a decent selection, with a variety of meats, veggies and cheeses. We ordered a large sausage and caramelized onions for about $ 20. My husband went back about 10 minutes later to pick up the uncooked pizza, while I fired up the oven and heated the pizza stone. I felt a little conflicted by the concept of ordering pre-assembled, uncooked pizza. After all, it isn’t that hard to make pizza dough yourself, or at the very least stretch out some Trader Joe dough and assemble toppings. But – this evening demonstrated why the model might work, I was exhausted, and simple as pizza is, relatively speaking, buying the preassembled model was even easier, with no mess. The pizza came very nicely packaged, sitting on parchment paper(on which it could be slide into the oven), supported by two rounds of cardboard, and swathed in a sturdy plastic bag. The finished product was delicious. The crust was decent, though not over the top fabulous. The toppings were delicious. They added more cheese, and less onion, than I would have chosen, but I bet they will tweak that if you ask, since they are assembling to order. I rate it far superior to the delivery pizza we have had locally(including our favorite, Armand’s.) I will definitely order from Homemade Pizza again next time I want a pre-made pizza fix, and look forward to trying their other combinations.
