Never open the account there! It’s really a «fake» bank. Fees for everything — no keeping promises on their words! Worst experience!

The best way to describe the experience of banking with GUASFCU is to disclose that my girlfriend and I love to call it a «fake bank.» The savings rates are abysmally low, and the amount of the fees they charge to do simple things like order checks and stop checks are ridiculously high. Their statements are unhelpfully vague about transactions, and the online banking looks like it was designed by high school programmers. You can’t even see a copy of any cashed check you wrote, either online or on your statement; you have to pay $ 1 to receive a digital copy! Also, forget going to the bank at convenient hours, since they close whenever Georgetown has a break (they close for two weeks during Christmas and for the whole week of Thanksgiving) in addition to only being open 3 hours/​day during the summer. They also almost lost a check that I left in their deposit box once; only when I emailed them multiple times did they find it and deposit it. The only reason this isn’t a one-​star rating is because of the friendly cashiers who are occasionally helpful. I would recommend banking with a real bank or credit union.
