Curry and flavor were meh. Quality was shitty on the day I was there — food had been sitting out for a while, goat meat was old and dry. Price was good.

As a student at Howard University there aren’t many good options to eat that are close and affordable. Food Corner is my go to place cuz the food is awesome, fills me up and relatively cheap. Their chicken burger is bomb and so are the chicken tenders. On days when I wanna get a little fancy, I get the Chicken and Seekh combo which is around $ 11 but totally worth it. Sometimes I can’t finish it all in one sitting b/c I get so full. Their house salad is really fresh too!

So, for transparency, my uncle owns and operates this Food Corner. He’s been in the business almost his entire adult life, so he knows kabob and South Asian food, and he gets it right on point every time, in my not so humble opinion. The kabobs are, as I said, on point, whether you order chicken, lamb, or beef. The buffet is slightly less great, and still good, and they really don’t offer a vast selection in terms of curries. There’s really nothing like this place anywhere in Shaw/Howard University, so if you want some good Indian, this place hits the spot, and for cheap. Whenever I’m out that way, I make sure to stop by. I mean, for Pete’s sake, the only other option within walking distance is a McD’s. Yuk. P. S. Telling him that you«know» his nephew probably isn’t going to score you a free samosa.

I went to this place with low expectations as it looks like a ghetto place which is across the street from McDonald’s. The food was amazing and they had inca cola one of my favorite drinks. The owner was nice and welcoming, overall a whole in the wall spot which is amazing.

One of the few rare occasions where I feel Unilocal stars were not an accurate reflection of the place. I am a big sucker for good kababs and chicken curry. Was really excited to find this lil place in DC close to our hotel. As juicy and succulent the kababs looked, they didn’t taste that good. And somehow the entire meal including the sides was too bland for my taste. Nothing very Indian/Pakistani about it. We ordered chicken kababs, lamb kababs, chicken seekh, chicken curry and lamb curry. Came with sides of chickpeas, okra and spinach. And little cups of chutneys: spicy cilantro and yoghurt cilantro. The portion sizes were huge. Like really huge. The prices were very vey reasonable. But the taste: not my favorite. May it was just a bad day coz other people seemed to have loved this place!

I used to go here all the time while a student at Howard and miss this place dearly. Five dollar specials for a full and delicious meal. And MYGOD– the chicken burger with French fries is to die for.

I have been going here for well over two years and I can say that when it comes to quality and price, this place is great. My favorite meal is the gyro platter and it does not even step over $ 8.00 with fries(and I mean a lot of fries). Even the items that I do not order as often are extremely reasonable given the quality. It is not fast food because they take typically around 8 – 10 minutes to make your food(from the grill) but it is quick enough to be convenient. They also have ready-to-go options with items such as rice and chicken that are great to eat on the spot. Overall, this is definitely a good place.

Great food for an amazing price… Don’t come here for ambience. It’s not a first date place but an awesome food joint. Try their burgers too… Honestly better than the vast majority of burger places

The food here is well above average in every category, all serving sizes were huge and the taste was authentic. I had the butter chicken & the chicken had the slight char indicating it was just freshly made on a tandoori. The prices are extremely reasonable with no meal that I tried being over $ 8.00. My recommendation is to go there and order because going through websites such as living social’s takeout app causes issues between what is actually available and what is on the LS website. Other than that this was an excellent place that I’d be happy to eat at again.

Awesome rotisserie chicken, spinach, chick peas(very well spiced), and okra. Great portions at a good price. The chicken is well spiced and comes with rice and two sides automatically. Can’t beat the amount of food or taste. Highly recommend for great vegetables and rotisserie chicken.

Just grabbed lunch here for the first time and am currently eating as a type. This rice is so good! It’s buttery and tender. The chana is also pretty good, it’s flavorful and has the right amount of curry, though I expected it to be hotter(spicy). Despite the missing kick, it isn’t at all bland. I don’t know if I walked in at just the right time or if everyone gets this, but my naan is fresh out. The outer crust is crispy like brick oven pizza crust, and the inside, while not super fluffy, is soft. Tastes great, especially with the chana. It’s not necessarily the kind of place you go out of your way for, but it is the kind of place that’s a solid, recurrent choice if you live or work nearby. I will be back :)

Excellent food. My personal faves: beef kabobs, seekh kabobs, lamb kabobs. Cannot comment on the chicken. Side dishes are tasty. Service is good. Ambience is lacking.

Food corner has good food and good prices. It’s good alternative to the normal sandwich places that surround the stretch of Georgia Ave. My favorites are the chicken burger with fries and the ¼ chicken special with spinach and chickpeas. The guys that work there are nice as well. Don’t forget to try the yogurt sauce and the ‘spicy’ sauce.

This isn’t a place to write home about, nor is it somewhere I would specifically make a trip into Shaw to eat at. But if you’re in the neighborhood and aren’t able to venture into surrounding areas with more food choices like the nearby U Street Corridor, this isn’t a bad choice. Pros: +Prices are very economical. My gyro was just under 6 bucks. Again, I wouldn’t say it was anything outstanding but it was a decent size and tasted decently good. My friend’s chicken kabobs with your choice of 2 sides costs along the lines of $ 7.99 without tax. +Clean bathroom — always a must! and sadly, something that tends to be lacking in «hole in the wall» locales. This restroom was a one-staller but it was very clean and had soap and toilet paper, which again, not every restroom always has. +The meat is freshly cooked — there is raw kabob meat on skewers refrigerated next to the counter and a short wait between ordering your food and getting your number called after your food is prepared, to substantiate the notion that they prepare the food after you order it, so it’s not pre-made. Cons: +Street parking only. Of course, it’s the Shaw neighborhood and not suburbia so expect to pay steeply for metered parking, equivalent to parking at most other streets in DC. +Definitely not a place for fine dining. The tables are cafeteria-style and the place looks a little bit like a cross between a diner and a bathroom — wall tiles that are red and black(if my memory serves me well), etc. Decent number of people coming in for lunch during a weekday, so it seems like they get a fair amount of business. If I’m in the Shaw area again around lunch time, I might pop in here but if you’re looking for fine dining or a place for a first date… perhaps not the top of your list.

Pakistani food? Never had it before. Was it good? Hecks yeah. LivingSocial gave me $ 10 spend at a takeout spot, and I was determined to find a unique place with food I’ve never tried. FCKR(haha) turned out to be the perfect gastronomical experiment. Why? Well, it’s cheap, huge, and super flavorful. I ordered a ground beef patty over rice meal which comes with two sides– I chose okra and chickpeas. The okra came at the suggestion of the server(I think he is also the manager/owner. The guy’s got a sense of humor!), and it was awesome. I should have just gotten all okra! The portion sizes are great; I was able to eat some and pack the rest into some lunches for my week. Additionally, I’m sure the hipster in all of us like the idea of getting ethnic food in to-go boxes from hole-in-the-walls. Sure, Chinese take-out is pretty standard, but Pakistani? Whole new level of hipster.(Semi JK) Anyway if you’re ever around Howard, I’d def recommend this spot for a quick dinner on the way home from a long day at work. Enjoy!

Kabob palace meets fried fish carryout with a touch of back-alley against a dumpster makeout griminess. Rad: Large portions and low prices will satisfy your paki-style kabob needs without having to zipcar your way to Ravi Kabob. The food here is way legit. Can’t speak for the«curryout» menu but all the Paki food will leave you stoked for sure. Bad: The location really blows to get to. You’ll prolly only eat here if an ambulance takes you to Howard Hospital.

Angels lead me here… I don’t eat here often but I crave it on a daily. The fresh chicken and lamb kabobs are amazing. The meat is so flavorful and juicy and with some brown rice and chickpeas its the perfect end to a perfect day. or bad day, or just an ok day, Its that good. i’ve never had a bad experience here or a bad batch of anything. You honestly can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Its clean enough to eat in, the prices aren’t bad and the service is decent. This is my last meal!

Food: 5⁄5 Service: 4⁄5 Cleanliness: 2⁄5 Décor & Style: 2⁄5 Awesome Pakistani food compared to others in DC. I eat here quite a bit. The chicken cheesesteak is one of my favs. Great chicken, naan bread, lamb. Anything on the menu basically. And my Pakistani friend says its very authentic tasting. Give it a try! The décor is not a sight for sore eyes lol
