I’ve never sat in the restaurant before, but I’ve gotten orders to-go many times. The staff is incredibly nice and the restaurant has a very home-like feel to it. They make me feel like family from the minute I walk in, and that treatment is appreciated and hard to come by. I usually get the linguini marinara, which comes with bread and butter. Both their garlic bread options are delicious — especially the tomato, basil, and mozzarella one. Last time I also got mozzarella sticks instead of garlic bread which were great. Lasts me quite a few meals since I generally don’t eat much.

Cheap alcohol and pasta, men visit from Virginia and Maryland. That is all… very boring…

Mostly good food, neighborhood atmosphere, friendly service. It wasn’t the best Italian food I have ever had but it was a nice place to meet friends for dinner.

Worst brunch in the city. Bad service. Bottomless equaling $ 5 per person. Insane. Never would recommend!

Since we ate delivery, I can’t speak to the restaurant experience. Thus, this review is for the food only. The bread — even with delivery, it was crispy. A single order includes 4 pieces! Bonus! Minestrone Soup — homemade with wonderful veggies, flavorful sauce, no complaints. Salad — homemade Cesar dressing, nice greens, no iceberg worries. The pasta — seemingly homemade sauce, lots of decent mozzarella cheese melted on top, and a nice pasta to sauce ratio. I was impressed. Minor«Complaints» — the chicken breast in the pasta dish was thin and lacking. It tasted like it was of far less quality than the rest of the meal. The garlic bread was seasoned with a mix that included red pepper flakes. I can do without spicy red pepper on my garlic bread. It’s a personal preference, but it threw me off. All in all, I’ll definitely be ordering again.

This place serves up old school Italian fare in a cozy family environment. The lasagna is solid and makes for a great leftover meal(lunch or dinner).

As far as food, I stopped eating at D.I.K years ago when I wondered with every bite if I’d get sick. Here’s the current status of the upstairs D.I.K. Bar: Prime Time Friday night = The smell of cleaning supplies over power your nose upon entry. 17 patrons. VJ playing Michael Jackson and Madonna. Speakers crackling and cutting in and out, then out, then in, then permanently out. More cleaning supplies smell. Sad. Decent cocktail though.

Don’t order veal when you’re with a large party, chances are someone will be upset. I was one of over 20 guests at D.I.K. and I thought«Why not try veal?» Bad idea. Looking around my table there were mostly salads and red wine and here I am with my plate of baby lamb. After I was lectured for 10 minutes I insensitively said in my best lamb voice…“Wow that all sounds bAAAAAAd!” That seemed to lighten the mood. Not even sure if it was lamb or beef because the internet says I ate beef and I was lectured about lamb but oh well. Ignorance is bliss. The unholy meal itself was delicious because the flavor was intense. You must experience it to believe it. Whatever meat that was, it was amazing. I don’t recommend getting it with a Yuengling like I did because beer and baby don’t really compliment each other very well. Parking sucks and is free after 10pm, I was there on a Saturday and I still had to pay on my parking app. The one restroom was very clean but you might have to wait in line because its a unisex 1 person only comfort room(Filipino!) Oh and there’s free bread and olive oil! WIN!

I seriously don’t see what people are being negative about! Then pizza here was so damn good it was gone before I could take s photograph of it! The pastas were just as delicious. And the shrimp Alfredo to die for! The service was exceptional and the lady was so sweet and kind enough to charge my phone at the back of the bar while we ate… She didn’t have to do that, especially on a busy night!

Pizza was amazing. Really loved the crust. Sitting outside was a perfect weather. Waiter was attentive without seeming intrusive. Would eat here again if in the area.

Where do I start? I found this place because I was going out with a bunch of my friends and I knew we would be hungry afterwards. After being seated inside their small restaurant, our server came over. I later learned his name was Danny only for the purpose so I know who to tell people to avoid if they ever go there. We’re looking through the menu and it says, they may charge a 18% gratuity on parties of eight or more. Come on now, cut the bs with this may, how bout you keep it 100 and just say that’s exactly what you’re going to do! The menu also says no more than 2 checks per group. That wasn’t even the major problem though. As we were deciding what we want to eat, Danny comes over and asks us if we wanted some garlic bread, like maybe 2 baskets. We told him 3 and then he goes ok 4. After he leaves to get what we are assuming is the garlic bread, we notice that garlic bread is listed on the menu as an appetizer. At that moment, Danny and another worker bring out a few baskets of regular bread. The free bread that you normally get when you go out to certain restaurants. That’s when we were like, oh then you can just cancel the garlic bread order then because we thought that was the free bread. He then immediately responds I can’t I already put the order in. I am sorry, but that is just ludicrous! What if something came up and we were unable to stay after the order was placed, you wouldn’t force us to pay for something we weren’t going to eat! What was really annoying was the garlic bread was exactly like the regular bread but with garlic oil spread on it. As Danny takes our orders, he goes from one person to the next like any other server would do, but then he somehow manages to skip my friend who was sitting directly across from me and take the order of my friend sitting next to her. It’s not like any of us said we needed more time or anything. Then when we point out he skipped her, he’s like Oh I’m sorry, I didn’t notice. What the hell! A few of my friends all ordered drinks and he casually glanced at their IDs. After he brings the drinks out, he asks all of you are over 21 right? I couldn’t really read the ID properly in the light. Is this dude for real? Our food comes out and he brings out everyone’s dish again except for my friend who is sitting across my me. She’s like um where’s my food and Danny’s response is what did you order again? We had both got the gnocchi but with different sauces. Once she reminds him, he goes oh yea I’ll be right back. The food was delicious, probably because we were so starving at the point we would have eaten anything! We ask for the check. I wisely told everyone to bring extra cash with them so it would be easier when we went out to eat. Only one of my friends didn’t(we still love her tho!), so naturally we get the check and we see the added gratuity which is fine because we honestly weren’t going to give Danny a cent more than what he was getting by default. Especially after he forced us to jack up our bill via deception with his whole garlic bread ruse. The bill was $ 160.64 I believe. We say put $ 9.64 on this Visa and the rest is all in cash. My friend had a gold dollar coin she wanted to get rid of so we included that as part of the cash. He picks up the check presenter and immediately goes to the table across from us to count the cash like we wouldn’t put everything in there. He saw the gold dollar coin, looked at it and put it in his pocket. After he finished counting the cash, he comes back and says we were a dollar short. I immediately say that dollar coin you put in your pocket is part of it. He then plays stupid and pulls it out and is like oh this is dollar, I thought it was a quarter and blames it on the light again. Dude, please cut the crap! A dollar coin is way bigger and it was gold for crying out loud. Bottom line, decent food I suppose. But beyond that you are better going elsewhere if you are looking for great service.

My 5 yr old and I were walking in circles aimlessly trying to locate a different Italian restaurant not far from the area(had an app, but somehow I got turned around and we got lost). We were hot, tired and hungry so we just decided to stop into the first place we could find which offered pasta and pizza. Man did we get lucky with this place. The food was fantastic… pizza was fresh and delicious, spinach salad was fresh and the dressing tasted homemade and the seafood pasta dish that I and my mother split was out of this world. I am notoriously skeptical about dining out for Italian food due to the relatively inexpensive cost of the ingredients used to make most dishes and the ridiculous over-charging most Italian restaurants do, but in the case of Dupont Italian Kitchen all of that goes right out the window. For what you’re getting the cost is more than reasonable. We dined here on a Tuesday in the very early evening and it wasn’t crowded, but I can see the dining room being a bit uncomfortable should they fill up. Having said that, for the price and quality I would definitely squeeze my fanny between the tables and deal with the crowds… The staff(all men during my dinner) were kind and attentive. A rustic, quality neighborhood restaurant that is worthy of 5 stars.

Visited the restaurant while on a quick 3-day stay in DC. We ate early so the place was pretty quiet, we were seated right away and got quick service. The interior is a little dingy but fine, not dirty or anything, and honestly I kind of liked that it’s not some slick mall restaurant. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. We got the calamari starter, which was basic(no fancy sauces) but good, I got the tenderloin marsala, and my daughter got linguine with meatballs. My meal came with linguine and red sauce, plus broccoli. My daughter found the meatballs too spicy, but she’s a picky eater and I ate some and they were great! I liked the red sauce as well. My marsala was very good, as was the glass of Malbec I got. All in all, it was a calm, nice experience with good food that may or may not have been authentic but was definitely made with care.

I am very happy with this place. I would say i go there once a week! I always order, ceasar salad, linguini with meat sauce and iced tea. They also have good choices of wine. Speaking of the price… you could not get good italian food cheaper than here on 17th street, dupont and logan. I’m serious! The service is very nice.

We got takeout here while staying in DC. Basic American, Italian food, not too fancy and a great value so it was just what we wanted. Highlights were the Ravioli Alfredo, the Veal Marsala and the bruschetta. All were delicious. Other foods that were very good but nothing special were the chicken parm and the chicken marsala. Food was cooked well and ready for takeout very fast. We especially liked the extra shredded cheese that they included to top off the meals. If you’re looking for a very good value and decent food it’s worth checking this place out.

Solid neighborhood place. I don’t know that I would bring visitors from out of town here to impress them, but for a filling good meal on a night you don’t feel like cooking, it’s perfect. Tortellini cardenali is my favorite.

A once forgotten brunch that is sure to be remembered. I’ve never been a huge fan of DIK(except for the bar), though their brunch won me over. Incredibly accommodating service, no wait, and an excellent combination of standard Italian fare combined with what you want in a brunch. Drink Up: Bottomless Sangria($ 15): A+ One of the best Sangria’s I’ve had! Extremely juicy for you fruity fans. Grub: Eggplant Parmigiana($ 12): A For 12 bucks you get perfectly breaded eggplant melted with mozzarella, pasta, and a basic tomato sauce. Enough food to last beyond brunch. So yeah, I’d go back and brunch at DIK anytime. Especially when in the food to eat and drink my fill for $ 30.
