This place is awesome! The flavors are spot on! Fried Zucchini with tomato sauce was to die for and the wife’s pasta was great and my Alfredo pasta was perfect! Will be back here again!!!

My husband and I just had dinner here on a quiet rainy Monday evening, and we really enjoyed the food! The caesar salad, grilled peppers appetizer, and linguine seafood were delicious and flavored really well. The only downside to our meal was the cold bread they served at the beginning of our meal. Warmer or fluffier bread would have made the meal perfect. The trip to the bathroom was a little creepy too… It was let’s say… interesting… having the kitchen staff stare at you while you walk to the ladies room.

As soon as you walk in you’re greeted by the owner who was so sweet and pleasant throughout the night. I had the gnocchi which was creamy and delicious. My mom had the chicken Parmesan which was also very good. The sauces had lots of flavor. I would love to come back!

Relying on Unilocal, took a long walk that was well worth the trip. Fantastic atmosphere, owner was entertaining and interactive. Food was amazing all four in our party had different meals and were pleased. I recommend the Rigatoni Alla Coupe with Italian sausage and crème sauce.

So excited to dine at Otello since I haven’t been there for at least 10 years. So happy to see that it’s quint with the old world Italian restaurant. Service was exceptional. Seated snd provided drinks immediately. Had the ceaser salad which was fresh and tasty. Had the rigoritoni pasta w sausage snd mushroom with a spicy tomato and cream sauce. Came out piping hot and cooked to perfection. Def would recommend for home feel Italian meal. Otello is about to celebrate their 32 years– hope that they are successful for many more years.

Pasta is great, wine list is short and overpriced, service is god awful. Food’s not good enough to justify the surly staff– in a city filled with fantastic restaurants, this is a skip.

We were in DC to visit my Daughter at school and were looking for a place to try. She did a quick search and found this place. It was a score! Food was great. You won’t be disappointed.

Perfect for our group of 18. We had a table in the back room all by ourselves. Service was flawless. Prosciutto and melon was great app; veal for dinner also excellent. Wine list is not extensive but if worked. Prices were reasonable.

Made a reservation here after reading a few reviews on Unilocal! The family Trattoria atmosphere was amazingly friendly. The restaurant was quiet, as expected on a Sunday night. The food: AMAZING! The best linguine with red clam sauce I’ve eaten perhaps ever! The small Cesar Salad was perfect, fresh and a delicious dressing. Price-wise, as expected. For the service and quality of food, Otello is worth every cent. You can’t go wrong here. It’s just perfect!

Shocked that this place was not only empty at 9:30PM on Saturday evening of Labor Day weekend but when we walked in no one even acknowledged us! The ONLY couple in the place let us know they were closed… And this is in the«happening DuPont Cricle»? Bye Felicia!

I have been to this restaurant multiple times before and they never disappoint. There is so much I can say about this place, great staff, amazing food, and most importantly, amazing portions for the price! Even after you’re done with your plate, and if you have the strength to move on with some obesity like me, you can use the bread on the table with the sauce of your dish haha. It’s amazing, and you must experience this place at least once in your life if your ever in Washington.

This is a classic Italian restaurant. Excellent food and Wait staff. You will think your in Italy !! The seafood pasta is superb. Ask for crab meat they have a limited number per day but it’s the best special touch.

Convinced by fellow Unilocalers to try out this place, and inspired by the pangs of a loved one who was hungering for baked ziti, I went on a Sunday night quest in search of the elusive. Firstly other than Buca di Beppo no-one else in the DuPont Circle area seems to carry baked ziti. Including Otello(which didn’t seem to know what a baked ziti was). Nonetheless it’s 4 star rating convinced me that we should settle for a gnocchi with bolognese sauce. What transpired was neither a gnocchi nor something that merited a 4star rating! We were given a RAVIOLI with meat sauce! And they call themselves an Italian restaurant!(Well I should have known that misnomers would occur — after all the Moor was set in Spain, no?)

The first thing I noticed is that they are a home recipes restaurant. It is a tiny place, and in my experience, those guys usually have good service, flavor, and portions. I can’t resist to order fettuccine alfredo whenever I go to an Italian restaurant. My daughter ordered Bolognese spaghetti. She always spoils the taste of the plate adding sugar. So, when I tasted it, it was contaminated with her awful ingredient already. I should say, however, the texture of her pasta was al dente, and the Bolognese had fair enough ground meat. I really liked the place. The service was 10 over 10. I haven’t had so far a complaint when I have a latin waiter/waitress. The guys there were so amenable and nice; I LOVEDIT. I give 3 starts out of 5 because my wine was rosé but it was not a fresh rosé. I am not a expert in wines, but I know young wines shouldn’t be served 48h after opened. This wine was open I would say MANYWEEKS ago. I didn’t drink it.

The food was good, I had the seafood pasta, finished it too the last shrimp. The décor is very traditional. checkered table clothes, wine bottles covering the bar walls. The bathroom however is located in the basement by the kitchen through a narrow and shady walkway. The service was a bit slow, but good overall.

Wonderful place to eat! Gnocchi was out of this world! The kids really loved this place and the staff went out of their way to make them feel very welcome. They got warm olive oil and spices for the bread.

We stopped in here on a whim while on vacation with our two kids. We were immediately greeted at the door by a friendly Italian server. The restaurant is small but it has a very warm, homey vibe to it. The service was outstanding! I could go on and on… Like I said, my husband and I came with our two young kids. They immediately asked what our kids wanted to eat and brought it out first and fast. The pasta fagioli soup was outstanding!!! I got the gnocchi and it was rich, but delicious. If we ever return to DC, we will be back!

Otello is one of my favorite restaurant’s in the DC Metro area. Located in Dupont Circle, it’s a little piece of Italy that I savor every time I go. Just hop on the Metro and you can too. The restaurant has a homey feel(meaning that it’s small), but the aroma of the Italian dishes seduce you as soon as you walk in the door. Every time I go, I’m always given a welcomed greeting and superb service. My favorite entrée on their hearty menu is the crab linguine. It is the best! When it’s served, the server then tops it off by grating fresh parmesan cheese over it. Even though every dish I’ve tried here has been delicious, this one by far is my favorite. They are also quite generous with their servings. I always have to take half of my meal home with me. Overall, Otello gets high marks across the board for excellence in food and customer service.
