Deanwood Café

This place has great potential but the customer service is sub par and the presentation is horrible. They don’t invest enough energy into the overall look of the deli. I also can’t seem to understand why they have to microwave everything. I also hate the wait time associated with getting your food. They have more than enough staff but the staff they have don’t act or move with a sense of urgency.

This place is a joke. The door has hours but they never adhere to them. The service is horrible at best. In the morning there is one person working the sandwich/​bagel preparation station and they are moving like they have not awaken yet. The person who works the coffee bar also works the cash register… SOOOOOOOOOO be prepared to WAIT! The line backs up three times. At the sandwich bar… at the coffee… and then again at the cash register. In fact, I have heard people who work in the building make jokes such as, «you have to take leave to get breakfast.» Be prepared to pay $ 8 for your meal and it be cold by the time you get back to your desk. When the building next door gets the restaurants up and running (Dunkin Donuts and other spots this place will be HISTORY!)

This unique local eatery deserves positive reviews on various counts — it not only offers moderately priced products, excellent and exemplary service but with products such as decent dogs, half-​smokes, kilbasa sandwiches and other quick light fare and refreshments, at reasonable prices to boot, but the establishment is run by, and supports the visually impaired as part of the D.C. Department on Disability Services’ Randolph Shepherd Blind Vendors program it is run by blind entrepreneurs in lobbies/​buildings of Federal and DC Government buildings. This program employs over 700 blind persons and contributes well over $ 758 million to the U.S. economy. Not to mention, filling peoples’ stomachs with tasty, reasonably priced and excellent service… try them out, you’ll leave satisfied in more ways than one!
