This place is great. Cheap, fast, and unpretentious. Breakfast foods and coffee are basic but good, and the lunch items(mostly sandwiches) are also good for the price. It has free WiFi and is a great place to study or read for a while. Highly recommended.

Decent little coffee shop type spot in the middle of Adams Morgan. I don’t drink coffee but I am a fan of smoothies and they recently started promoting their fruit based smoothies so I decided to give it a shot. I ordered a strawberry smoothie and it was just okay. They use yogurt based smoothies instead of fruit based so it is a little thicker than what I liked, leaning more towards a milkshake instead of a smoothie. Taste was okay though. Place itself looks a little rundown but they do offer free Wi-Fi and will allow you to work at their tables as long as you purchase something. This place is really close to my place so I’ll definitely return to try some of their other products.

I love this place – it’s unpretentious, service is generally very quick, and it’s convenient for me. I work across the street, so it’s my go-to spot for a breakfast bagel and coffee, but they’ve gone through something of a remodel recently and started putting their(Honduran?) specials on the menu. I know next to nothing about Central American cuisine, but their baliadas are really, really good(the tortillas actually taste homemade), and they have some sort of platter with rice and beans and avocado that sounds tasty. The coffee is actually really good, though I always get the drip and nothing more complicated than that. They offer a variety of pastries that, to be fair, look like they all come from Costco, but I think that they really shine in their sandwiches and hot breakfast/lunch specials. Service is very friendly, and I wish I spoke more Spanish because I always feel kind of stupid saying«Buenos dias» and not being able to follow up with anything else but English. But I digress. It’s a nice place!

I can’t say you’re going to get«great» coffee here. The food is pretty good. They do have Wi-Fi. If you need coffee and fast, this is a decent place to go, but probably not out of your way. You probably need to be more in the neighborhood. It’s hard to compare when you have Tryst down the road from here on 18th Street. However, if you need a quick bite, the sandwiches are pretty good and the croissants are worth checking out. Just don’t expect Counter Culture beans or Peregine Espresso.

Breakfast after a morning yoga class never felt better. After a 6:45am class at YogaChai across the street, my friend and I wandered into Crumbs & Coffee around 8 to get reenergized before the day would officially start(of course, only after coffee). I got a bagel sandwich and a chai from their rather extensive menu. I liked the simple décor of the place, and the outdoor seating is definitely a plus(not bad for people watching on Columbia Road). It’s also situated in a part of Adams Morgan away from the hectic bar strip, so pace of life feels a lot more mellow, and you won’t feel trapped in an urban jungle. The menu is understandably Hispanic-inflected, but of course they also have the usual breakfast/bakery foods. So expect an interesting combination. A solid 3.5 stars :)

I walked in and it took at least four minutes before I was even acknowledged. The café was empty and there was a woman standing at the counter. She called another woman up who left one headphone in her ear while attempting to take my order. I noticed the mold on the display cakes, canceled my order and walked out. There is a photo on this page. Horrible service and poor quality control. I will not be back.

This place is a gem, situated right in the middle of Adams Morgan. Their coffee is tasty and doesn’t «go bitter» as it cools off. Even better than the coffee are their pastries, though… especially the wide variety of muffins. They’re pillowy, hold together well, and are absolutely f’ing huge. The staff behind the counter are very friendly, the prices are great(it may be the last place in DC where you can procure a large cup of coffee for under $ 2), and the outdoor seating is a great space to watch all the activity on Columbia Road. To address a couple of the common criticisms I’ve read: 1) This is a coffee shop, not a deli; you shouldn’t waltz in expecting to find the most amazing bagel with lox you’ve ever eaten and then complain because it didn’t live up. Don’t compare apples to oranges. Relative to other coffee shops, the food is just fine. 2) Yes, the interior is austere, but consider the tradeoffs this provides. Namely, cheaper prices and a coffee shop not overrun by people who spread themselves out at the tables for hours on end. If a place with pretty walls and $ 6 lattes where you can sit elbow-to-elbow with students on laptops is really your thing, walk a block down the road and go to Tryst instead.

Here is what Crumbs & Coffee is: a disappointment. I have lived in the neighborhood for 6 years and frequent this Crumbs & Coffee from time to time, each time hoping it has improved. Their baked goods are of mediocre quality(not fresh) and their service is slow. Coffee is not that tasty, smoothies are thumbs down. Chai is horrible. I had high hopes for this place, as our neighborhood could really use a bakery/coffee shop that serves fresh products and offers a nice ambience. Here is what Crumbs & Coffee could/should be: A comfortable, high quality, clean, neighborhood bakery and coffee shop… with a better variety of freshly baked goods, delicious sandwiches and bread(like what you can get at So’s Your Mom), and a staff that is efficient and professional. The interior furniture and general décor could be so much better with very little work. All in all, this place is fine if you want a quick not-so-great bagel or coffee, but I usually walk the longer distance to get something more tasty and fresh at Tryst or So’s Your Mom.

Don’t think I will be going back. The selections were not too tempting and a bit pricey. Some pastries looked already packed and not too fresh. I should have left but I still bought and item.

Not the most amazing coffee I have ever had, but standard, reliable and friendly. The menu features interesting items and makes me feel like I am at a café in some Central American capital(I think that is why I like it so much). Afternoons are filled with guy speaking Spanish and discussing women, politics, and of course insulting each other on the patio… Feels like home.

I came here to try it out. Free WIFI and other Unilocalers seem to like it. I got an iced coffee and the DC Vegetarian Special sandwich. Iced coffee — good Veggie sandwich — good, but it has cheese if you’re vegan(I’m not) The WIFI is zippy, so that’s good. The down-side. The front door sticks. Not a big deal, right? Well try sitting an the counter beside the door and listen to it BANG, BANG, BANG for a couple of hours. Aggghhhh! Fix the door! Other than that, it’s fine.

I was staying with the bf who lives next to Crumbs, I went with him few times for breakfast and we met up once around 2 pm. This place is pretty good. I don’t drink coffee, so sadly, I can’t tell you how their coffee is. But I did try their hot chocolate:) That was yummy, not sure if it was powdered or if they actually make it, but it was yummy, it was a pretty chilly day, so that was nice. I have had bagels there before and they are a nice decent size, not too large and doughy, that’s pretty bad, so yea they had a pretty good taste. I have gotten bagels that were sour before, so luckily, these weren’t. Apparently in the later part of the afternoon, they have 2 for 1 doughnuts, or so I was told, They were pretty large! Not small Krispy Kreme doughnuts,(btw, side note, I have a horrific love affair with KK doughnuts) since it was in the later part of the day they were starting to get a bit hard and getting stale. I tried their coffee cake the other day and it was pretty yummy. The cake itself was nice and moist but the crumbs up top were hard, it almost seemed like it was frozen, which is weird, because if the cake was frozen, the cake itself would have been hard too, soo I’m not too sure what was going on there :(The crumbs were yummy though! I’ll return there :) I am planning on living near there so if I am close, I think that may be a breakfast stop every now and then :)

Great for a bagel sandwich and for a large chai latte. But as for studying in public? Not so much. Reliable wireless — check. Plenty of outlet plugs –check. Enough table space — check. Things were looking good until the Christmas music on the radio got way way way too cheery. I’m fine with«Choir of the Bells» without vocals, but when you start playing«Dominic the Donkey», I pack my bags. They were listening to the radio, so I know they dont have ultimate control but it just wasn’t working for me. Also, the other clientele in here were just straight up weird. Definitely not a single person in there I would have asked to watch my laptop while I went to the bathroom. At one point, a customer sat down two seats from me and was talking to himself and falling off his stool. And then another person(non-customer), would come in, sit at the stool next to the door and have a ten-minute conversation in Spanish at high volume then leave for fifteen minutes and come back again for another conversation over and over again, without buying anything. This place is great for a two-hour study session, but I can’t sustain myself on irritating music for much longer than that. $ 5 minimum for credit cards.

The best part about this place is the fact that it’s not jam-packed with laptops on the weekend. If you need to get work done, this is the perfect place to grab a coffee and fire up the free wifi. Plus — Their iced coffee is amazing. Minus — Wheat bagel w/egg and cheese was just okay — cheese tasted like that thick, brand X rubbery stuff — but edible in a pinch.

People are complaining that this place has no ambiance, but I like that it isn’t another hipster coffee hangout. Crumbs and Coffee’s demographic is everyone in Adams Morgan. The coffee is great and reasonably priced, good bagels made there, and awesome breakfast sandwiches that cure any hangover,(although I wish they’d bring back the cans of sparkling lemonade!) Dogs are always welcome outside and my various fosters have made new friends sitting on the patio. The staff is also really friendly. Kudos to the lady who called my ex bf «Chica». If you’re looking to see your money stay locally when you spend it, definitely come here instead of Starbuck’s.

I live in the ‘hood and walked by the awning while they were building the place for what seemed like a year. What materialized inside was a great disappointment — no coziness, no culture, nothing unique or interesting. What’s good: FREEWI-FI, fresh delicious pastries, friendly service, outdoor seating where your doggy is welcome.

So far, three stars, but I look forward to coming back and trying some more stuff. I just popped by on my way to the grocery store, because I was starving and it’s a bad idea to shop for groceries when you are starving. The atmosphere is indeed utilitarian, but I was too fixated on the donuts in the display case to be concerned. I grabbed an Odwalla OJ from the fridge, and ordered a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese. The counter man was friendly enough; in fact, when my bagel was ready he brought it to my table. That was one skinny bagel, but it was good! And you know, I felt perfectly comfortable sitting there for a while, with a newspaper I grabbed out of the bin. There were plenty of other people there just hanging, chatting, surfing the web. They also make breakfast sandwiches, on bagels or croissants, and I’ll be trying one of those soon. When that day comes, I’ll try the coffee too.
