I work nearby, so this is a standard place in my breakfast and lunch rotation. Good food and great customer service.

I have never like anything I’ve eaten here. I know this place is very popular but there food just tastes blah to me. There lunch sandwiches are nothing to get excited over. I tried their breakfast burrito also and it tastes like someone dumped a pile on salt on it.

This sandwich shop is my go to place for lunch. I love how all the meat is freshly roasted and they put a ton of meat on the sandwiches. However, I usually go for breakfast. I usually get a breakfast bagel sandwich, which is good, but their breakfast platter is delicious, as well. Their breakfast cookies are evil in that gooey chocolate caramel way, so good. The guys behind the counter are very nice and efficient and the women at the register are very nice. It would be perfect if they had fresh baked bread, but their bread selection is vast which I appreciate.

Great quick breakfast. Friendly quick service and reasonable prices. The place is comfortable. I am not thrilled with the breakfast burrito, being from the southwest. However, the breakfast sandwich croissant is great.

This place is a little gem. I’ve only been for breakfast but it’s good, reasonably DC priced, and the staff are all very nice. Pancake platters are solid and their iced coffee — a summer staple for me — is pretty good(you know, for a non-gourmet breakfast place coffee). Their breakfast food is standard fare but the selection is good, and the cooks make the eggs and pancakes on the griddle right before your eyes. No shoving frozen, prepped eggs into microwave ovens here! The avocado sunrise plate is the latest special and it comes with toast, one egg sunny side up, one boiled egg, avocado, and fruit. The photo speaks for itself and it’s all delicious. I always walk past(when I don’t walk in to eat) and see people sitting there and just reading the newspaper over breakfast, or using their computer, which is a good sign to me. Their service is also extremely friendly.

Great sandwiches and really fresh meat. They’re fast too, which is what I want when I need to buy lunch during the work day. I love that I always see the same people working behind the counter– that means the management and pay is probably decent, and they take care of their employees enough to retain them for a long period of time. They have a nice selection of ‘fancier’ bottled sodas and nice bags of chips too. A great spot to get a filling lunch that tastes good for ~$ 10. There’s a $ 5 minimum for credit cards, but there’s an atm right across the street.

Café Phillips is great. I normally come here for breakfast and get a nice sized bacon, egg and cheese sandwich for $ 4. Sometimes I also get the croissants, which are freshly baked in house and are huge– those cost an additional dollar though. The salads and lunch sandwiches are also fresh as well and they have a pretty decent sized menu of different salads that are prepared in the morning and can be picked up from the fridge if you’re in a rush. My favorite things here are the chai lattes. They are so good! There is a menu of different flavors, which range from hazelnut, vanilla, caramel, mint, pumpkin spice and gingerbread. I truly love these drinks and I usually get them iced. They also use coffee ice cubes. These drinks are about $ 4 plus an extra dollar for soy(unfortunately). They are also served any a pretty big cup.

The breakfast burrito is humongous and tasty. Chicken cheesesteak is seasoned well but a little greasy. All prices are fair. My biggest complaint is the bread selection runs out frequently. Service is ALWAYS friendly.

In DC, if the sign on the building is plain and boring, then you MUST go inside. Some of the best food adventures I have found have been from unsuspecting neon signs. Café Phillips was just around the corner from the Capital Hill Hilton, and on my last day in town I opened the large glass doors to find the deli I wish I knew about the whole time. Unilocal reviews told me that their ice coffee had coffee ice cubes in it. It did — my large iced coffee was not watered down after walking back to the hotel in 90+ degree heat, thank to the coffee-laden cubes. My total bill was $ 6.25 for a bagel with cream cheese and a large iced coffee. Not bad. While the bagels were most likely not homemade, they were OK. Luckily the delicious homemade scallion cream cheese made up for the bagel. Bits of fresh green onions were in each and every bite, but it was not overpowering. Café Phillips has a few breakfast sandwiches on the menu and coffee drinks, but the menu is fairly simple, likely to keep the line moving on busy weekdays. If you’re staying in a hotel, you can stop here and grab small bags of potato chips, snacks, pretzels, chocolates, yogurt and other packaged goods. They even had kombucha — I KNEW I should have come here earlier in the week!

Just started frequenting this place. 4 blocks from my DC office. Service for both my visits has been with a smile once I walk in. The order taken for my sandwich was accurate. Would encourage the order taker guy to give off a bit more warmth in his greeting. The sandwich – turkey Reuben was exceptionally good. Can’t wait to go back again.

Café Phillips has great breakfast sandwiches. I’m staying at a hotel around the block on 15th street. And I needed a fast breakfast before a meeting. There were 4 – 5 people in line before me and I still got my bacon, egg and cheese in less than 10 minutes. The croissant was fresh and the bacon was crispy. The orange juice was also very tasty.

Café Phillips is a great spot if you like fresh carved meat. You can actually watch them carve your fresh ham, whole turkey, and medium rare roast beef. Sandwiches never disappoint. They enlarged the inside seating area about a year ago. I’d stay away from their salads as they are pretty simple and flavorless albeit rather healthy I’m sure.

delish sandwich! i work across from here — so why did it take me so long to venture in? i love how they cut the meat right in front of you, and the line though long went quickly. got a turkey ruben it was filling and amazing. everything tasted fresh and it was filling enough for me for hours. definitely will go back and try all the other great options!

Perfect breakfast sandwiches when I really need some grease, yummy lunch sandwiches when I want something hearty, and light, flavorful, fresh, and lovely salads when I eat like I should be eating. Café Phillips isn’t all that different from other downtown breakfast/lunch spots, but they are so close to my office, they have one of my absolute favorite flavored waters(Bai), and I’ve never had a bad experience there. The breakfast(egg) sandwiches I’ve had have all been amazing, and they have no problem letting me customize my breakfast sammich(eggs, cheese, mayo and tomato). The lunch meats are freshly carved, which an older reviewer actually thought was a bad thing, but I honestly love the thickness of the meat. And the salads are great– I can build my own with their myriad of toppings, or I can order a standard salad. They also have an impressive variety of salad dressings, which is awesome. This is a solid place to grab breakfast or lunch if you’re in the area.

The sandwiches are good. I enjoy coming here for lunch when I’m in the area. I wish it was a little bit cheaper, but it is good quality food.

I always stop here for breakfast. They have awesome bagels that are nicely toasted with either cream cheese or jam. You have to ask for the jam at the cashier. Their breakfast burrito is pretty good, you have a choice of either ham, bacon, sausage, or turkey something. I have not tried their lunch, but the menu looks good and I will have to give it a try one day.

Freshly carved turkey on rye with all the fixins, Add some mustard, finger lickin’. Cookie after? For sure, good fellow. Stain on my shirt! Why is mustard so yellow?

I come in here several times a week for a breakfast sandwich. $ 3 and change for a pretty decent bagel with egg and cheese on it. Quick service as well. The other thing that really keeps me coming back though is the incredibly friendly staff. It is always the same people working there when I come in, they are always friendly with the customers and they just make my morning a little bit brighter.
