Subairi is the best and I’ve been going to him for years now. He’s always consistent and just has a great instinct about what looks good. I always get compliments on my haircut thanks to him!

Frank has been doing my hair for years now. I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my hair! He even did my hair on my wedding day!
Usually I get partial highlights and a cut every 2 – 3 months. At this point, he knows what I like. Frank is a great listener and offers ideas, especially when you’re unsure of exactly what you want. He’s great with color– keeps things on the natural side if you ask for it. Frank also gives great cuts!
The salon is small and isn’t as chaotic like the large salons. I like that they text you to remind you of their appointments! I can’t speak for the other stylists but Frank is the best!!!

I was able to make appointment same day for a simple hair cut. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and the receptionist took my jacket right away. I met with Susan who was very easy to talk to and understood what I had wanted. While getting my hair washed, she spent extra time massaging my head which I loved! Loved my hair cut and the efficiency of the staff. Would definitely go back.

i’ve been seeing subairi forever and LOVE his new location right off u street. the new space is very open and modern, it’s in the middle of everything, and of course subairi does a fantastic job. everyone i’ve sent here has loved it too.

Got Victor. Very Nice Guy but I had to get a second hair cut somewhere else. The result was not good at all. Will not go back.

By Subairi is located on my walk to work along 14^th Street. I’d noticed the new location open up a month or two ago but didn’t know anything about it; my hair has been getting long and ratty, though, and yesterday I checked Unilocal,saw how great the reviews were, and decided to give By Subairi a shot.
I walked in at around 7 PM without an appointment, and Daniel was able to see me almost immediately. He sat me down at his station and talked with me about what I wanted. I found his manner very agreeable — friendly and knowledgable yet approachable. Daniel shampooed and conditioned my hair, as the young woman at the shampoo station was otherwise occupied. Back at his station, Daniel worked efficiently and meticulously, and for me he struck the right balance of easy small-​talk and quiet concentration. He checked in with me several times while he was working — showing me the first inch or so of hair he snipped off for my approval, asking me if I needed water, asking me to tell him if the hairdryer is too hot, etc. I was extremely pleased with the end result.
My one quibble (and it’s a minor one) is that Daniel told me near the end of the cut that I would get 25% off since it was my first time visiting the salon; however, at the counter I was charged full price. Since I was so happy with my cut, I didn’t notice until some hours later. I wouldn’t have minded paying full price ($ 60 plus CASH tip), and I initially was prepared to, but it irked me a little bit that I was promised a discount and didn’t receive one (I had mentioned to the young woman at the counter that it was my first time upon entering the salon, so she should have known about the discount).
BOTTOM LINE: By Subairi has the sleek look, expertise, and professional service of a much more expensive salon. Daniel, in particular, was a wonderful and skilled stylist. I will most definitely be back!

I have been a client of Agus at Subairi’s for over 6 years now. My experience there is always positive and good. Agus’s attention to detail and laid back style is always good. If you want to look handsome make sure you visit Agus.

Daniel is the best!!! He did a great balayage. My husband even commented on how good my hair looked-​and he NEVER notices when I change hair color. I am definitely coming back to Daniel.

I went to this salon to get highlights and my hair chopped off. The place was very clean and friendly. I didn’t have an appointment but they took me anyway. I loved it and I loving hair! I am counting down the days to when I can go back to try something new! Do not hesitant to come here. It is amazing and the price was awesome for the city.

It’s funny that all these reviews are written by women because the place seems to cater to men (and I’ve only seen male stylists and clients here!). Despite this, I decided to take a chance on a women’s cut with Daniel and was really happy with him. He listened carefully to what I wanted, cheerfully made adjustments when I asked, and chatted in a pleasantly low-​key way. I really liked the cut and it grew out ok, too. There’s no upselling or pushing products with cuts here, which is nice.
The shampoo is the only thing that annoys me about By Subairi — They don’t cover the client’s clothes during the wash… So I invariably end up with water dripping all over my top as I scuttle back to the stylist’s chair. If you’ve got long hair like me, request the hairdressing gown before you head back to the shampoo station!

Called early one afternoon hoping to get a trim before leaving on vacation; was able to get in later the same day. Daniel trimmed my tresses efficiently, was a pleasant conversationalist and styled me after with some great va-​va-​volume. The salon itself is tastefully decorated (love the exposed brick!) with not too much and not too little space. Will be back!

My favorite salon has moved, renamed itself, and is in a fabulous new space! (See my original review here:
) Subairi, by far, is one of my favorite and most reliable stylists and is still affordable. He is one of those businessmen who remembers a customer after a three year hiatus (I changed neighborhoods for a while, and then decided I had to go back to him). The new space is about half the size of Urban Escape in AdMo, but it’s beautiful with exposed brick and doesn’t feel cramped at all.
If you have Asian hair (thick, straight-​ish) and are having a hard time finding a place that works, Subairi is your man. I always want a classic, layered, low-​maintenance haircut and to be out in about an hour. Generally, when I’ve gone anywhere else, they’ve given me a haircut that needs a lot of maintenance (no, I’m not going to blow out my hair every day or come back for a trim every month), and/​or taken over two hours to do something relatively straightforward because they’re not familiar with my hair type. This is also a salon that doesn’t charge extra for dealing with long hair. $ 60+tip for wash/​cut/​style.
