Yah, so about those health code violations… Honestly, I never expect to not find violations in certain hole-in-the-wall joints. This is your average corner store, with all the sunflower seeds, Utz bags, incense & flavored cigarros you could ever ask for. However, if you walk to the back, you will find a random Jamaican cuisine take-out counter, with all the fixin’s your(imaginary) yardie Grandma would always cook for you. I am an oxtail fiend. Seriously. Not kidding. I will close a blind eye to a dusty corner or grease-splashed menu, if the food & those who prepare it look clean/right. Shameful, I know. With that being said, I find that Bell Corner was my go-to for my oxtail cravings when I couldn’t get to OTHER Caribbean restaurants that do the job right, for whatever reason(long lines, not accepting credit cards, closed in the middle of the day for no reason — yeah, you KNOW which places I’m speaking of). Their oxtail is tasty, tender & plentiful… as long as there are no” vermin”, I’d keep going… hopefully, they’ve cleaned up since!

Stay away from this place, It’s a dirty place and after seeing this health code violation in the Washington Post on 1÷19÷2012 you decide if you want to go again.

open 24 hours!!! Combination convenience store + grill in the back Update: now this place has a mini Ethiopian restaurant in the back, although I seem to always miss them when they’re serving food and get there too late! You can call ahead to order and while you’re there you can pick up some bread, milk and eggs too!
