This is such a delicious and inexpensive place to eat! There are plenty of vegetarian options on the menu(which is awesome when trying to pick a restaurant to visit with friends), and everything my friend and I had was delicious. Also, the baklava is awesome and a slice is definitely worth it — you won’t want to share.

An Adams Morgan gem. Not much for décor, but the food is wondeful. I rotate between the pizza with olives and mushrooms(possibly the best pizza in the city), the eggplant parm sub, and the gyro. The lamb shank’s also stellar.

The food was ok but the lady working up front was rude and it took almost 30mins to get the food. The place was dirty and you could not even get a seat outside bc they had them locked down like the White House

Astor is our family’s go-to pizza place. We love the gyros and lamb shanks too. The people are lovely as well.

Astor tastes like food. It’s ok. Not as good as Amsterdam. Not so amazing for vegetarians. That said, there is some seriously good goodness in the platters. Just a tough area for pizza. I liked it better than Mellow!!!

I cannot say enough good things about Astor! After moving to Adams Morgan a few months ago, this has become a go-to for dinner(wether in a pinch or looking for a quick place to take guests to eat). Their food is top notch — fresh and always delicious. I often get the chicken kabobs which is a huge portion along with a cucumber/tomato salad, red peppers and onions as well as rice. Also, their homemade hummus is amazing! And their staff is great — we have definitely become«regulars» and they always greet was with a warm welcome and small talk.

Lamb shank with roasted potatoes was ideal on a dreary cloudy Washington morning. Just followed my nose from the street! Fast friendly service.

I went with my friends. We ordered half chicken and a platter of appetizer. Food was okay. Hummus was excellent. Babaganush was also decent. I am not sure if I will ever visit again.

Small hole in the wall spot, but the food was delicious! I recommend the kabob mixed platter or the vegetarian sampler platter. It comes with all types of dips, pita, and falafels. It will definitely fill you up!

My husband and I ate for a quick lunch and were more than pleasantly surprised. The kofta pita with beet salad was a tasty(and affordable) lunch!

Stopped here on my way to the Zoo! Great lunch selection just a little slow. I had the chicken skewers which were great. My friend had the gyro and was impressed with how yummy it was. Has out-door seating which is perfect for a nice day. Would definitely recommend this for a lunch stop!

A great little Mediterranean carry-out that offers kabob platters a step above their nearby clones, while remaining to be an affordable casual spot in an increasingly pricier AdMo/Kalorama neighborhood. The place is a chill no frills store front with a few tables outside and inside. You can get kabobs, gyros, salads, and even pizza. I got the kufta kabob platter, which is like kibbeh– a skewer of ground beef and lamb mixed with herbs and grilled. I love ground meat skewers it’s like a lighter version of meatloaf or a burger patty. It’s a lot leaner. It came with some sautéed peppers and onions, a large rice pilaf and a side of fries. It usually comes with rice and a tomato cucumber salad, but I was coming out of the gym and wanted something heavier. The order took kind of a while, like 25 minutes. There was only two dudes running the whole rig, so I don’t blame them. I’d probably try to call it in ahead of time next time. The food was also cooked Yo order and the presentation surpassed expectations(I got silverware) so that made up for the wait. The place is good, not great, but it’s at a great price. Make sure you ask for their spicy garlic sauce. It pretty much tasted with everything on my plate. It was the perfect place for me to get a cheap, filling but not too heavy meal after a workout.

I was walking by on my way home from the gym and got tempted to go inside and get some lamb kabob take out for dinner. Mediterranean is my favorite cuisine, well besides Mexican, Thai, Spanish, Indian… okay I like food. The lamb kabob platter was decent overall, but I have to say that I enjoy Moby Dick’s House of Kabob platters more than I did Astor Mediterranean. I think it had to do with the texture of the rice(either I was familiar with this type or it was a bit overdone). Again, it was a decent meal and believe me I ate it all up– I just am not itching to go back for another fix.

Lamb stew was great! Outdoor seating was beautiful and service was super quick. The price was in the teens but I got 2 meals out of it because sooo much food is served. Taste great. Plates wonderfully and it is a solid meal.

5 Stars for the Salmon(cooked) with Salad. That’s what my gf ordered and it was unbelievable. Literally the best salmon I have ever had. It’s more expensive than the other items, but its a pretty large portion. I got the lamb gyro and it was pretty on point – I’d give it 4 stars. Only problem was some inconsistency in each bite. The veggies are pushed to one end while the meet is on the other. If I wasn’t walking and eating I would have mixed it up a bit and it would be a non-issue. The salmon with salad. That’s where it’s at.

As new residents of Admo/Mt. P my fiancé and I have been wandering around checking out all the local spots for some reliable go-to places in our new ‘hood. So on a lovely June evening a couple of weeks ago we decided to try Astor! Mostly because a) they have a great, expansive menu and b) the people eating on their patio said it was delish! After carefully reading the menu(they honestly have soooo many options that appealed to us) we settled on a gyro, some babaganoush(mostly because I saw how amazing the warm pitas that come with it looked as they were giving someone else their order!) and the spicy chickpeas with rice. The gyro was by far the best! It was a perfect gyro, delicious meat, great sauce, fresh veggies, tasty pita. I would eat that gyro every day! The babaganoush was great but sadly the pitas that came with it were a bit too greasy :(And the spicy chickpeas were VERY spicy! I didn’t eat those(I can’t handle spicy) but for my caliente-loving fiancé to say they were quite spicy means I would’ve likely cried if those touched my lips!(jk I wouldn’t cry but yes get watery eyes). He did like them, though! just next time he’ll get some of the yogurt sauce to help with the sting. Overall, this place is great and we will definitely be back! Their menu has some kabob style dishes that we will surely try next time! Glad to have this place near our new digs!

Traditional Mediterranean /Arabic food with a slight egyptian twist. My favorite is always their ‘special box’ which is a little mix of everything. Reasonably priced and always delicious

The kind of unassuming, independent neighborhood spot I wish we had more of in bright-and-shiny Navy Yard. If I lived in Adams Morgan I’d definitely order lots of takeout from Astor in place of all the Five Guys, Chipotle, and TaKorean that currently make up my «not cooking tonight» rotating fast food tour of laziness. For less than $ 7, Astor’s yummy kufta sandwich more closely resembles a burrito than a pita wrap in size, and the hummus was on point. I also took a falafel sandwich and tabouli to go for lunch the next day — sandwich was good, but would not order the tabouli again as it was 85% parsley(not enough bulgur wheat or veggies to balance it out). It’s a really casual place with friendly staff who are nonetheless in no particular hurry to get food out to dine-in customers(we waited 15−20min after ordering at the counter), so recommend for takeout rather than a quick lunch or sit-down dinner. I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here again, but for locals it’s a solid option.

After spending a whole day basically walking around all of DC, including the National Zoo, this small, humble Mediterranean shop was like the light at the end of the tunnel. They were about to close(5pm) but he still let us order. I got the kufta, which was juicy and delicious.(My friends ordered the gyro and falafel sandwiches, both of which also looked very tasty.) The tzatziki goes wonderfully with the meat, and the portions are filling. Best of all, the sandwiches are only around $ 7 with tax. They also have a large variety of platters that looked good, and that I would love to try if/when I come back to Adams Morgan. ISITCHEAP? Yes! And juicy! And delicious!
