As I was browsing the World Wide Web on my Internet Machine, I saw that Adam’s Mill Bar & Grill has CLOSED. What a gip. Loved this place. Me and my friends would often stop by after taking the Dog’s to Walter Pierce Park for some socialization. I can’t speak for the food, but the Beer was always ICECOLD! The Staff were friendly, helpful, very welcoming. They had a huge covered patio where Dog’s were allowed to mingle. I’ll miss this place.

I’ll miss you Adams Mill. You are one of the only bars large enough to even attempt to handle the Friday/Saturday Adams Morgan masses. I much prefer your laid back weekdays, where I can be rewarded with my hike to Adams Morgan with some good drink specials at the huge patio. Can we say pitchers? I’ve been here several times for happy hour, or if a friend has reserved floor for a birthday. Good times. Yes, it’s like a discombobulated frat house, but isn’t a multistory bar so much more fun? On the weekdays it’s actually a decent bar. Anyway, today’s their last day and they are being replaced with a Panera Bread. Le sad.

The mill is the best place to go grab a beer if you’re having some troubles and need a drink or if you just want to catch up with some friends — especially if your friends are smokers. As a cigar smoker myself, it is REALLYDIFFICULT to find a spot where you can just sit outside for 20+ minutes and have a drink. The mill has a big patio with a nice view of the neighborhood. Nice people and cute doggies frequent this place! So the atmosphere will always be very enjoyable and chillaxed. The prices are reasonable and good for those of us who cannot afford the fancier places. The only downside to the mill is that the food is really not that great. But the mill makes up for it by being what it’s supposed to be: a great bar!

The Mill, as it’s known to locals, is a bar that’s good for anything: great patio to sit outside and enjoy the heat and humidity of a DC summer, a number of TVs upstairs to watch sports, an expansive selection of beers(and $ 10 pitchers!), and friendly service. The crowd here is pretty chill, and the food is OK. It’s bar food… not a whole lot to say there. Whatever you order, get a side of honey mustard. I’m sure it’s out of a giant wholesale container, but it’s to die for.

Your neighborhood bar in the heart of AM, it’s located at a great spot. It was chill to just sit there for a drink and people watch. You definitely get the local, younger sporty crowd here. We seemed to end up at this bar to wind down the night. Heard that it may be ceasing operation by the end of the month. It’s sad.

So this is my second time here: First time was with a large group, this time it was with my BF and another friend. I have to say — this place reminds me of a good neighborhood bar. The wait staff are friendly and though they may not have a huge selection of beers, they have a decently selection(though this time I was sticking to the Captain and Ginger ale) The next time I go exploring in Adams Morgan — I will definitely go back here.

My girlfriend was calling the shots for the evening, so after our dinner at Malaysia Kopitiam, she made the call for drinks at Adam’s Mill Bar & Grill. This being my first time at AMB&G and only my second time in Adams Morgan, who was I to say«no»? As it turned out, it was an inspired call, aided by the fact that she had a Groupon that needed to be expended which made the drinks a real deal! AMB&G is a fairly large bar with an upstairs bar and outside seating for warm weather or those hardcore smokers who’ll brave the bitterest cold to get their tar and nicotine on! It’s geared for watching sports, however, given the day and time(Fri night around 8:30pm) the downstairs bar was largely empty. Our bartender(I really should’ve gotten his name) was friendly and professional. The beer selections on tap were better than average. Best of all, they serve beer by the pitcher! Is it just me or does it seem like beer served by the pitcher is a rarity in District and NoVA bars? Liquor selections, specifically the tequila and vodka, were fairly extensive. However, scotch drinkers should look elsewhere. For the service and beer by the pitcher alone, AMB&G merits 4 stars from me! I’ll be back.

Any place that loves our dogs, earns my love pretty easily… they always pet our dogs and bring out a bowl of water. The beer is cold and they are friendly. I usually have to walk inside to get my check but a little exercise never hurt anyone…

Adams Mill Bar, is by far the worst place I have been to in DC. It is the closets bar to my apartment so I natural checked it out a few times. In an area packed full of bars, I was rather unimpressed. I sat outside the first couple times I was there. The first time, the server came to our table while smoking. If he needs to take a smoke break, fine take a seat or go behind the bar. The food is very average and everything is very mediocre, which is disappointed especially with a long wait and when it is surrounded by places that really care about their food. The second time I went to Adams Mill was on a sunny Sunday afternoon. I sat down at a table in their large outdoor patio. I waited for about 10 minutes and no one came by with menus. So I walked inside to ask to have a server come out to our table. In a rather rude voice a woman behind the bar told me they didn’t have someone waiting on the tables outside. I found this rather odd, since the only thing the place has going for it is the outdoor patio. The service was a little slow, but not as bad as the time before. My friend paid with a gift certificate and tried to cover the rest with his credit card. The bar tender refused to take the credit card, citing a $ 10 minimum charge, even though our tab was much higher. Part of the credit card contract that all merchants sign states that they will not require minimum purchases, further the policy was not posted. I returned a third time with my dodge ball league. The event was promoted with having 128oz tubes of beer for $ 20. I tried to order one and the bar tender was rather rude about not having them available. To his credit, when I called him out on it, he later apologized. But another ‘dodge baller’ reported trying to order a pitcher, but being turned down because they didn’t have empty ones. C’mon, send someone to grab the extras or buy more, how much can a plastic beer pitcher really cost? In a parallel universe, where Adams Mills is the only game in the area I can see people staying loyal to their local bar. However when there are probably 15 or 20 other places within 2 block radius, I can’t see the appeal to the place.

Great bar for watching college football and college girls. 50 cent wings and burgers are generally pretty good, along with some solid service. Many DC kickball and softball teams converge here during weeknights, which is also fun. All makes for a fun night out on a Friday or Saturday.

Great bar. Super friendly bartenders. Decent selection of beers on tap, not the cheap domestic stuff. I was waiting for a friend out in the 90+ degree heat, sweatin’ like a pig. All I could think about was a ice cold beer so we wound up here. The glasses were even frosted! I was so excited!(It doesn’t take much to make me happy.) I also remember walking by a couple of times and there’s a live band playing in the area outside of Adam’s Mill so if you sit outside, you can drink and enjoy. I just don’t remember which day…

This place pretty much was exactly what I expected — and I gotta say that doesn’t happen too much, so A+ for being predictable. The beer selection is good and the food is not groundbreaking, but also predictable The bar really shines in the summer with their open patio. If you don’t mind the kickballers and bocce ball players streaming in with their annoying matching shirts and cheesy throwback socks, the bar offers a relaxing setting to enjoy a summer evening. One time I was here and the bartender was playing what I believe was Nickelback(or similar) so I headed for the jukebox. After selecting various crowd pleasers such as Luther Vandross, O-Town, Tom Waits and Lady GaGa I waited for the music to come on… but it never did. The bartenders came over and set us up with about $ 20 in free credits when he found out we were trying to play some sweet tunes… so it wasn’t long before«dance with your father» was rocking out in the bar. Another anecdote — they were filming a movie here the summer of 2009 where I saw Elle Woods(who I was later told is actually named Reese Witherspoon), and asked if I was part of the ‘background’…I was just on my way to the metro so I declined the question. I’m not sure I want to be in Elle Woods background anyhow.

‘The Mill’ as it’s known to us is the most underrated bar in the 18th and Columbia area — hence the the 5 star rating. This place should have a sign hanging outside that says ‘$ 10 dollar pitchers all the time.’ It’s probably the best kept secret in the area, and I kind of like it that way, but they’re good people. On Sunday, this place will have your game playing and they also have 35 cent wings, which are actually halfway decent. And pitchers are still $ 10… how bout that. And for all you smokers and enjoyers of the outdoors, there is a covered patio here.

I use to come here when I was younger. then kinda faded out of it. I actually went back there this past Friday, and to my lovely surprise the outside cash bar was still there. AWESOME! This is the only place in the AM that I know I can walk into and have a beer in my hands in no more than 25seconds from entering the place. I challenge you to find a place faster than this. It is not grossly over packed like the other places and you can still talk and meet new interesting people. or interesting enough depending on how much you have been drinking. Hang out by the door between the patio area and the inside area, you will watch people eat it all night long. It is one measly step but the best drunks always forget it. Makes me smile. My friends and I actually stumbled through it again on Saturday night also, and BAM! Still awesome. Thanks for staying classy Adam’s Mill. By classy I mean DRUNK.

«They’ve fixed this place up,» R said as we took a seat at the bar. «It used to be a real shithole.» I glanced around. Not a shithole, but certainly not the swank rides I usually go for. But I’m an openminded gal and they had $ 10 pitchers of Peroni, so I felt a-okay. The bartenders were nice, the beer selection isn’t bad, and they do make a pretty good burger(the only thing about that is each topping [ie, cheese, onions, mushrooms] are a dollar more, each, which I felt a little excessive). The beef was done to a nice medium texture, and the sauteed onions and mushrooms were delicious. Ambiance-wise, it was pretty laid back and unpretentious, with one TV over the bar where we were sitting. As we were leaving, a gang of grownup kickball players was filing in, giving me a better idea of the typical crowd. So, overall, I didn’t mind Adam’s Mill. The only thing that was shithole about it were the bathrooms. I’ve seen nicer loos in crack houses.

Two and a half stars. This is the stereotypical Adams Morgan bar that attracts sports teams and loud out of towners and that locals like to complain about. Its three floors are jammed on weekends and it’s bartenders range from friendly to boorish. It’s only redeeming factors: a nice outdoor seating area and a better than average selection of draft beers at the downstairs bar(a recent visit found Fordham’s Queen Ann Kolsch on tap). If you must go, do so during the week and sit outside.

Adam’s Mill is probably one of the more perfectly placed bars in Adams Morgan simply because it sits at the corner of the start of the strip and has plenty of room out front for people to sit outside on picnic benches and people watch. Plenty of beer on tap and in bottles, two pretty spacious floors with everal flip cup tables tell you about the crowd here — WAKA, WAKA, WAKA, that’s Kickball to those who are unfamiliar with the sport. Drinks are cheap enough and although it gets pretty packed here, the place is big enough that it’s never too crowded and you can generally find a spot to chill comfortably with some friends. I’m rarely here, but when I am, it’s usually a decently good time. One thing I can say is that people tend to be in a pretty good mood here, which isn’t a characteristic i notice at a lot of bars — people just seem to have a really good time when they are here, which kinda rubs off, I suppose. My recommendation would be to start your night here with a pitcher or cocktail on the patio and then meander down the drunken road that is 18th st. Don’t stop till you’re either on the roof at Roxanne, singing karaōke down below it, or smokin’ some hookah at the very end of the road.

This is my favorite bar in Adams Morgan. It reminds of the great Ohio State Bar– Out-R-Inn(oh how I miss mug night!) Anyway, my favorite points: — Rather cheap beer– 10 dollar pitchers(for good beer) on occassion — AWESOME burgers — a great outdoor patio on the street(dog friendly) — funny bouncers — cute bartenders — great football on the multiple tv’s. — big long bar with extra seats and hooks for your purse Now, I don’t usually come here on a Friday or Saturday night, but I have never found it too crowded and the crowds are always easy-going and there to have a good time. I have never gone upstairs– I have always enjoyed myself downstairs, but it sounds like fun. BTW, if you are expecting a kohler sink in your bathroom, this isn’t your place– so just suck it up and realize that a semi-dive bar joint will have a matching bano. Thanks Adams Mill! You rock!

Horrible. Two separate 15 – 20 minute waits at the bar(different spots), and one five minute wait. There is no excuse for that at a bar EVER. I’m not talking about 15 minutes to get to the bar and get my drink, I’m talking about leaning against the wood of the bar for 15 minutes without being served. I know how to make eye contact, and I know how to wave 20s and cards — I’ve worked behind a bar and I know what works — I never wait more than three minutes at most establishments. I won’t go back. (side-note: people were dancing on tables in the back while I was there. Very collegey bar, which I might have liked if I was in the mood for a rowdy night, but I can’t ever justify going back)

Five stars for having the strangest assortment of people I actually knew in DC in the same place at the same time on the same night. And for convincing me that even if you are from the west coast and freezing your ass off you can go out in DC at 1AM and have a really good time. Little crowded though. I suggest that women wear boots. Men, just remember back to those«courtesy rules» from mosh pits.
