My Food has never been bad here. The only issue is lunch time take out. Because they get so much business at lunch, you better order 1hr early. But it has always been worth it. Heck, they’ll even take your picture and put it on their wall if you want.

Thai star is the best Thai food restaurant in the metro area, bar none. The food is freshly prepared, served quickly and comes in generous portions. The price is excellent as well, two people can eat for under 20 dollars, including a tip for the wait staff. I had the pad Thai, spiced medium. Several times at other places, I was unable to finish my food as their medium or mild spice dishes were simply too painful to eat. Here, however, each dish is perfectly spiced and served as described. The soup and spring rolls, served with each meal, are excellent as well. The location is great, directly on Ryan with a parking lot lit by streetlights. I would highly recommend Thai star to anyone looking for a fresh, cheap, good filling Thai meal.

One of my favorite Thai places around. Good food, good service, and the price is right. This is my go to Thai place in Warren

It should be noted that CHEAP does not necessarily = GOOD. At $ 7 for nearly every entrée on the menu(with soup and spring roll included) this place is certainly CHEAP. However I’ve yet to experience a meal here that I would qualify as GOOD. Serviceable? Yes. Good? No. I’ve eaten a lot of Thai food over the years and Thai Star is rather lackluster. One of my favorite Thai dishes, when done right, is Massaman Curry. Most places don’t get it right. This place does better than a few I’ve tried but it’s still nothing special. The sauce was thin and lacking any character of rich flavor, and the beef I ordered with it… not sure what it was but the term beef should probably be used very loosely here. Wound up going back and getting the Thai Star Noodle. It looked good and it smelled decent. But flavorwise it was a hot mess. It basically tasted like one of those dishes you would make at Mongolian BBQ where there is no rhyme or reason to what you are throwing in the bowl and it comes off the grill tasting like a mix of burnt soy sauce and everyone else’s dish from the grill. I did not love it. Would not order it again. It’s cool that they give free soup and spring rolls with every meal, and that the portions are fairly large. But Thai is filling enough that I don’t really need the apps, and I’d honestly rather spend a couple bucks more to get a better quality dish.

This place is just average in my book. Not the worst nor best Thai food I ever had. I like how they give you free soup and a egg roll with each meal. But it wasn’t as great as everyone on here raved about. I have tried lots of different Thai restaurant and this place was just meh. I ordered the pad se ew and it was good. Better than most I must say, they wasn’t stingy on the broccoli which I do enjoy. I also got the fried rice and that wasn’t so great. I’m used to fried rice with lots of seasons such a garlic, here it was just okay. I might give this place another try, but it’s definitely not the greatest.

2nd time at Thai Star in the last two weeks. I have been searching for the best Tom Kha soup for the past few months in hope of finding one that was similar to my favorite that I found in the Napa Valley area. Well I have come very close with Thai Star’s Tom Kha with vegetables. If you in an inkling for Tom Kha, try it here. As for my knowlege of Thai food, it is very little. My wife and I both enjoy the Peanut Curry dish. Prices are very reasonable. Lunch prices are in the $ 7.25 range. Give them a try

You don’t come for the décor, unless early 70’s is something you really want to be around, but the quality of the food is fantastic. The freshness of everything I have had from here is always spot on. Spice level is conservative, I usually order extra hot instead of hot, people I bring here also have the same opinion unless they don’t like spice. The hot and sour soup has a fantastic balance of flavor, color and spice level. This will be your favorite Thai place.

Thai Star has become my go to thai place. Since my last review I have dined in many times instead of just ordering take out. Thai Star is the best thai food restaurant for two reasons, 1.) It always taste good! I like that they use fresh vegetables unlike other Thai places. 2.) You get soup, and 2 spring rolls with your lunch/dinner entrée! Yummy and saves you some $ so you can tip your server even better of course ;) I HIGHLYHIGHLYRECOMMENDTHAISTAR.

Let’s talk about delicious. This is the place to go. Trust me, I eat a lot of thai food but this was by far my favorite overall place. Spring rolls = on point. They were so good and super quick. She also recognized I was a vegetarian when I ordered so gave me two spring rolls because both of the soups she had contained meat. The staff = best service I have probably ever had. The lady was so nice. It was almost time to close but she insisted we eat in because the food taste better rather than waiting to get home. She also made you feel at home. We were able to get anything we needed. It was kind of cool. The chef even came out and asked us how our food was. Pad See Ew was SOOOOOOO good. I get it at a lot of places including places that are super high ranked on Unilocal and this was my favorite. My only critique would have been I would have liked mushrooms. I promise you, this is a place you want to go to!

This was the place my girlfriends and I would go to when we were craving good thai food after a long day of high school. The staff are very friendly and most importantly, the food is delicious. After I went away to college, I realized how hard it is to find good thai food, especially in Ann Arbor. Whenever I am home and need my thai food fix, I definitely have to go to Thai Star. Delicious fried chicken wings, soups, and all the entrees I’ve gotten have always been delicious. I usually stick to the noodles, the standard pad thai with shrimp or pad see ew with beef. Great place for lunch or dinner and always left overs for the next day!

Great Thai food. Soup and eggrolls come with every meal. I order curry, mansumug, and Pai Thai and it was delicious. Love that they give free tea. Pai Thai was delicious– juicy and just right. seafood curry– was perfect with light coconut sauce! mansumug– great potatoes and peanuts! I use to go here when I was little and have forgotten, decide to stop by after a long day of shopping, and I’m glad I did. It was great! Will be returning soon.

Very Delicious! We were the only people in the restaurant on a Sat night at 8pm. In house dining closes at 8:30pm &9pm is total shut down. We ordered Shrimp Pad Thai & the Seafood Curry. Both came with choice of soup & spring roll. We had Tom Yum soup & hot sour. Both very good & the spring roll was great. Shrimp Pad thai looked & tasted soooo good. It had a decent amount of grilled shrimp. Seafood curry was a new choice for us, but we love all seafood so that’s why we ordered it. Seafood Curry was over white rice & had lots of seafood chunks of meat. The coconut curry sauce was really good. I hate coconut, but I couldn’t taste it at all. The servings were huge & was two meals in one. $ 19.95 for all that food, you can’t beat that! The restaurant was clean, had one waitress & lots of(empty) tables. We will be back!

Lunch entrees were good. The tofu was cooked well and vegetables tasted fresh, not overly greasy or limp. Lunch special spring roll and Tom Yum soup were average; good for volume but not tasty. The service was friendly but slow considering the lunch rush. Good deal for lunch ~ $ 7.50−8 including appetizers.

Well, it’s been a while since I Unilocaled. And what better time than right now, I suppose. I’ve recently had a job change and the location I’m at now provides quite a bit more dine-in opportunities. Today, I decided to take a couple of recommendations I was given and went to Thai Star. Now, I grew up in Warren and still continue to go to Warren, especially now that I’m working in Warren. 3 Warren’s in one sentence. A new record. :) But for as long as I have driven past it, I’ve never stopped off at Thai Star. So, today I stopped driving by. It’s another one of those«hole in the wall» places as it’s in a strip mall, has modest décor and has been there forever. The wait staff seemed friendly, if not a bit hurried as it was the lunch time crowd, but that’s to be expected at times. I ordered my usual Pad Cashew with chicken(which is my personal fave). Hot and Sour soup and a spring roll was included. I have to say that the hot and sour soup was probably one of the best I’ve had. Great flavor. Spring roll was very tasty, as well. The Pad Cashew was very bright in appearance. I normally don’t talk about artsy-fartsy stuff like that, but it was very nice to look at. Bright greens from the bell pepper and orange from the carrot. Even the chicken was bright white and then the brown roasted cashews on top. And they used a bowl to make a dome of rice. Neat touch. I know, we eat with our eyes, but I opted for a fork into my mouth today. Just something I couldn’t help but notice. Ok, and alot of the other food I saw them bring out looked pretty good, too. Ok, so how did it taste? It was very good. Again, as always, I have to use the word subjective. I liked it, but there have been places I’ve gone to that I’ve liked better. That’s not to say it wasn’t good. It was very good. But everyone likes flavors that are a little bit different. The sauce seemed to have a bit more of one thing and a little less of another to just give it a slightly different taste than other places. And yes, I would go there again. When something is good but you’ve only had it one time, you owe it to yourself to have it a couple of more times. Things can grow on you once you give it more than one chance. Like my wife when we first started dating. After a few dates, she couldn’t get enough of me. :) The only thing that I would have liked better was a bit more rice. There was alot of pad cashew(a good amount) but the ratio was about ¾ entrée and ¼ rice. To me, the rice is part of the dish, not a side. I would prefer a 2⁄3 entrée to 1⁄3 rice, myself. I found myself rationing rice near the end of the meal just so that I could mix it in with the other ingrediants on the plate. But I’m just nit-picking. It’s one of my quirks, I can’t help it(I’m a pizza snob, too, but that’s for another review). But some people may like a little less rice, and you know what? That’s ok. It’s deranged and sheer lunacy, but we’d all wear a straight-jacket a little differently, too, right? I do plan on going back. Pad Se-ew is next on the list. Sorry, I’m not much into Pad Thai. I think I got burnt out on it because that was all I used to eat before I became daring and ordered something else one day. But many more places to eat and review. So I plan on actually reviewing instead of just eating and forgetting about sharing my eating experiences. I know everyone has been waiting patiently for that, right? Anyone? Bueller? :D

8÷22÷12: Update! Okay, I lied… I said I would dine in next time, but the craving for their hot & sour soup(just based off reviews) was overwhelming me, so I ordered carry out for lunch again! I got 1 spring roll(still delicious) and hot & sour soup. Delicious! Still waiting to try a noodle dish before I go for all 5 stars… Hope you’re able to enjoy this place!

After going to the Chinese buffet on Ryan and 12 way too much I decided to stop eating there. I’d seen Thai Star on route each time but never stopped. I finally popped in today and the 3 things I noticed immediately, friendly staff, very clean restaurant, and reasonably extensive menu. I ordered a carry out lunch portion of peanut curry for 7 dollars. Usually with lunch carry out you don’t get both the egg roll and soup but it was in the bag when I got home. The hot & sour soup has a real dark broth, not too salty, tangy, spicy, and piping hot. the spring roll was nice and crispy with good flavor. The curry is pretty nice-lots of vegetables and chicken. The portion is pretty fair for a lunch portion and the ingredients are fresh. I ordered medium and it isn’t very hot which is nominal in the grand scheme. Overall, nice job Thai Star!
