Excellent food and large portions. It’s a family owned business so it’s nice seeing the consistency in employees. I’ve gotten to know them a little; they’re very nice people. Don’t be put off by the less than pristine look from the outside. Give them a try!

A dive. Nothing special. I lived in Thailand. The food here has been Americanized. Only red curry dishes. No green or yellow. Curry sauce is heavy on the sugar and watery. Service good. Good for a quick Thai fix but not for a date.

We love Thai Smile! The Drunken Noodle is the best I’ve had and the Hot & Sour soup is really good here too. The restaurant is gross so just order carry out and close your eyes when you pick it up.

The food here is nothing short of appethaizing! It looks kind of dingy on the outside but the food here is actually pretty good. They have a number of combos/lunch specials on a board and you can order any of them regardless of the day. I ordered the Wednesday combo which was chicken pad Thai with some sort of red curry perhaps? I’m not sure if all lunches come with the sweet and sour soup + egg roll, but the total for the meal was 9.50 with tax which is a great deal for the amount of food you get! I asked for spicy and it looks like the way they make the food spicier is by adding red pepper flakes which is the first time I’ve seen that at a Thai restaurant. The curry was slightly sweet and was something I liked alot more than the pad Thai. The pad Thai and curry was separated by a line of rice which was a nice way of doing it. Pad Thai itself was pretty solid as well. I’d definitely come back!

I was greeted at my table with a cup of hot and spicy soup. The menu has both à la cart and combo meals. The à la cart meal is equivalent to any meal in a Thai restaurant I’ve visited lately. The combo meal gets you a spring roll and rice with your meal. Be adventurous stay away from the pad Thai you boring Thai food eaters. Try the Se’ew for a change! Great dish. Friendly service.

I first went to this place a few years back, hoping it would be a diamond in the rough, like Pi’s Thai used to be before Chef James’ departure. Unfortunately, that was not the case. I can’t even remember what it was called back then, under seemingly different ownership. I’ll just call that incarnation Thai Frown. Things are a lot different now. The restaurant is still housed in the same rundown building in the parking lot of an equally rundown motel — a greasy setting that wouldn’t be out of place on the show Trailer Park Boys, and was actually what first drew me to the joint. Now, however there is a sprightly row of letters with the cheery name, using red peppers for the eyes. This sign might actually annoy me if it was on a modern, bland strip mall, but here I like it. Inside, the booths are still very well broken in, with, I think, a greater menagerie of fun stuff on the walls. Your standard tourist posters of Thailand and whatnot. It was cold when I came here in the winter, but I’m a veteran of over a decade of Detroit winters spent in buildings with lousy heat, so I ain’t complaining. I just tried to sit away from the door and near the space heater. Space heaters 4 life! Service is good. They’re quick with the water and soup. But the real difference is the food. Much, much better than it was back in the early aughts. I’ve had Pad Thai with beef and one of the basic rice dishes(I forget which but the eggplant was awesome) with shrimp and they both hit the spot. I’m not on the 5-star train just yet, but they do cook up a mean lunch that’s good cold later, too. The last time I went, last Saturday, there were notices on the front of the register and the menu advising prices just went up, and they still seemed pretty reasonable. So the place has gone from a horrible dive restaurant to an awesome dive restaurant. Bravo! Now I just need an excuse to make it back to that part of town…

I picked this place our of several because of the great reviews. I was not disappointed. I had the drunken noodle and it was heaven, as was the rest of my combo. Perfectly cooked rice, amazing spring roll and a great portion size. I won’t be trying another Thai restaurant in the area. I can’t imagine it can get better than this.

First timer! I called in the order for carry out of Thai fried rice with Shrimp hot(F3 KraPow) and shrimp rolls. They said 15 minutes. It was ready in 10. It was enough food for two to split unless you’re feeling greedy. The meal was delicious. Spices and flavors were on point and authentic. We will definitely be ordering again. I’ll probably try the meals as a combo vs a la carte – more bang for the buck. I made sure to get a carry out menu since there was no menu available on Unilocal. What I looked at online was out of date and inaccurate. I hope you find it useful.

If you only based your decision making on the outward appearance of this place, you would continue driving by it– possibly at a speed a bit higher than the speed limit. But, I trusted my coworker’s advice and joined for lunch there. I ordered the special for $ 7 – 8 and was absolutely floored at the serving size, quality and taste. I had that«thai smile» upon leaving.

OMG I never thought I would find a Thai place near me that I loved. I moved from oak park to Warren and wanted Thai so bad that I would drive all the way back to Southfield to get it. Last night went to Thai Smile just to see how they were. They did NOT disappoint. They were so friendly and the Drunken Noodle was awesome and the price is way better than my normal place.

Very fast and delicious Thai carryout. I had the drunken noodle combo with pork which came with fried rice and a spring roll. Tasted better than the more expensive Thai I have had in the Troy area before. They give you generous portions, especially for the price, along with friendly service. Just a five minute drive from most of the area hotels.

Don’t let the outside fool you… this place is AMAZING. My wife and I stopped in for dinner and were floored by how good(and cheap) the food was! We ordered the T1 and T4 and both were very fresh and flavorful. This might be my new favorite Thai spot. The server was very friendly and attentive as well. It was a very pleasant experience.

This place is a 2 minute drive from where I work. A co-worker and I have been here many times, with today being the most recent. There are several Thai restaurants in the area. We’ve been to most, if not all, of them. Thai Smile is the best of the ones we’ve tried. In fact, I can’t think of another Thai place anywhere in metro Detroit that is better. The food here is excellent, at a very reasonable price. The sauces are consistently great. Lots of fresh vegetables. Don’t be fooled by the exterior appearance or the fact that it’s next to a seedy motel. If you can get past those things, you’ll be rewarded with great Thai food.

This little whole in the wall is actually pretty damn good! From the outside… or the inside actually, you wouldn’t be able to tell that it has such tasty thai food! i ordered the drunken noodle, it was absolutely delicious — just the right balance of salty, sweet, and sour. I also got the Gang dang — really nice spicy coconut cream gravy with lots of yummy veggies like my fav — eggplant! Will definitely be paying this place another visit before too long!

great Pad Thai, great price! Had two orders of Pad Thai, one seafood, one shrimp. Both were delicious! The portions were smaller than Thai Stars, but I still had left overs(my man didn’t). The hot & sour soup(included w/the meal) was delicious as well. $ 16.50 total. Can’t beat that. We will be back again. The restaurant is small and outdated, but that won’t keep me from going back. Great, friendly, quick service.

Their Lunch price are great price for the quality of food. I enjoy druken noodles, T4 — the red curry with egg plants and other vegetables! I always take one of these two for lunch. Sorry cant give you advice on other entrees. Small restaurant, with about 15 tables. decent size for lunch not hardly have to wait to be seated. It is a family restaurant. Keep in mind that they charged(50 cents more?) if your purchased on credit card is under $ 10. So you can pay as a group or just bring cash. Overall, I like this place~!

WOW. Now, I don’t just like this place for the complimentary sweet and sour soup. I ordered the Gang Dang with chicken-medium spicy, and my cousin ordered the chicken pad thai. We both loved our dinners because we got so much food for our money. My cousin describes her food as very fresh and delicious. Our waiter was super nice, and although its abit small, the décor is beautiful.

I can’t believe I haven’t written a review of Thai Smile yet, but I haven’t. Maybe I didn’t want anyone to find out about it… I’ve been all of the Metro Detroit area, and Thai Smile is the BEST Thai I’ve found. You don’t necessarily want to eat there because it’s pretty run-down, but thankfully I’m close enough for take-out. Everything I’ve tried here is great, and as others have mentioned, cheap as hell! The spice level is realistic, so order what you’re used to. Everything is prepared with care and they’re very friendly. I think they know who I am and what I order by this point. So don’t be put off by the looks of the place — Thai Smile is hands down the best Thai in town!
