Ponderosa Steakhouse & Buffet

This place is the worst place I have ever been to I rather eat a McDonald’s cheeseburger off the floor. PLUS THEY ARE SO EXPENSIVE. Worst place ever!

When I saw the other reviews, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go. For what it is it’s a good location. We made it in time for the lunch buffet, so it was a much better price than what we would have paid at Golden Corral. Only gripes include: no shredded carrots, no chicken noodle soup, and one toilet stall wouldn’t quit running. Food was good.

This place is beyond gross, the food is barely edible. I didnt even know Ponderosa existed anymore and it shouldnt if it is this bad. The only thing I enjoyed was the ice cream. Do not spend your money here-​go to Cracker Barrel instead!

So this is what I wrote to the regional manager: I am usually a frequent ponderosa customer however this experience I had was possibly the worst and will make me never return to another ponderosa ever again. From the second I walked into the door there was nothing good about this dining experience. To begin the food is heavily overpriced for the quality of it. The food was often lukewarm and then there was no chicken and when I asked a person in back when will there be more I received a horribly rude attitude saying «you have to wait». Then when I asked for a styrofoam cup for ice cream the waitress simply so «no «. I said you don’t give those out anymore? And she looked at me again and jus said «no» almost like I was inconveniencing her jus by asking. The front manager who rang me up was also not very polite or happy that I am a paying customer at the restaraunt and all the other employees sit around at the tables talking laughing joking and staring at customers as if we are animals at a zoo .
Ever since I was little I have been coming to ponderosa it was been great for me for about 20 years but I jus because of this location and this experience alone I will never come to another ponderosa in my life. You just lost a 20 year customer. My suggestion is restaff that whole location or you will continue to loose lifelong customers and money as well.

I don’t understand the appeal of this franchise. Against my better judgement went here with the hubby who «had» to have the chicken wings. YUCK. Unfortunately, the Detroit area doesn’t have the much better Golden Corral near us and the nearby Country Buffet is pretty crappy. Anyway, for $ 10.99 you can get the dinner buffet. The salad itself is decent but the (much needed) sneeze guards are so intrusive you have to contort yourself to get a good scoop of anything on the backside of the bar. All the hot food offerings looked gross, especially the smothered pork chops which actually looked like hot vomit. Breaded shrimp the size of a penny, no (bagged) tortilla chips for the taco bar, no hot rolls and the hubby’s sirloin was as big as his thumb — the baked potato was bigger than his steak. Pretty bad food all the way around. I ate salad for almost $ 11. The service is spotty – the server refilling out drinks was efficient and friendly but the chick serving my hubby’s steak practically slammed the plate down, mumbled something and was off like a shot. Rude. It’s Ponderosa, I don’t expect too much. Funny thing as we were finishing up we noticed a placecard on the table touting select offerings (like a Catalina Pasta Salad, Pistachio Ambrosia, etc.) and the pictures looked pretty good — but they were nowhere to be found on the dinner buffet anywhere. Kind of felt scammed. Anyway, I am surprised this place stays in business.
