Have dined here a total of three times. Food and service were both quite excellent on each visit. Attentive and friendly staff! Small menu for a small space but PLENTY to choose from. Clean, inviting space. The only thing I wish for would be a wider range of(less expensive) wines to choose from. This will certainly not deter me from becoming a «regular.»

I’ve been back to bywater many times and it’s still one of my favorite restaurants. My must try items are the daily shrub cocktail, pickled shrimp, the orchard salad, the house brown bread and do not miss out on the frites. The frites are so, so good! Consistent with my first review, the staff are all so friendly but still very, very busy. I’ve also noticed wait times have slowly increased a bit during busy spells but I suppose popularity is good thing and means bywater will be around for a very long time. The atmosphere is very lively and communal and you’re just about guaranteed to spot a few people you know from around town. But if you’re not in the Eastbay clique, don’t let that stop you from dining here because also consistent with my first review is the notion that truly anyone will feel comfortable eating here. There have been visits where the place is full of 20-somethings and then there have been times where the clientele is mostly the age of my grandparents — bywater is for everyone. Even with all the accolades I can dole out, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that it can get uncomfortably chilly in this tiny restaurant during the winter months. Two occasions now have left me feeling a bit hurried to finish up my meal and get into my car where I can crank the heat up. So if you’re prone to feeling cold, wear layers.

Took some out of state friends to this sweet little restaurant on Water St in Warren. Had fantastic oysters; delicious dinner and great service. This is a really nice place to go for a special dinner.

Awesome little restaurant I stumbled upon while in town after a long stead away from home. Fresh oysters were delicious and can’t beat the buck-a-shuck Monday night special we happened upon. Friendly staff and excellent ambiance made the evening that much better.

Absolutely fantastic! The atmosphere has a nice nautical modern feel to it with a good size bar. Their cocktail list contains quite a few unique choices and there’s a full wine and beer list along with whiskey, scotch and apertifs. The menu, while small, has a mix of seafood and land with smaller plates as well and full raw bar. I had the duck tacos for my meal, which were out of this world delicious. The irish bread and butter that comes first is soft and very flavorful. I high recommend this place and my wife and I will definitely be back!

outstanding food. from presentation to taste, top notch. arrived with my dad for dinner on a friday evening at 6:30. quoted a 20 – 20 min wait, seated an hour and 10 later. however, solid beer options, stellar food and friendly staff make up for long wait. i’d happily go again.

Overall disappointing experience. The waitress seemed annoyed to be there and spent most of her time slouching over the bar, which forced the hostesses to pick up the slack delivering drinks, clearing the table, and delivering/charging the bill. Very strange for such a small place where each waiter/waitress only had 2 – 3 tables at a time. Drinks for each member of our table of 4(beer and wine only) came out 5 – 10 minutes apart. The presentation of the food was good but the taste ranged from moderately flavorful to bland(the seafood, in particular was overcooked and somewhat tasteless). Would have been a 3 star experience if not for the high cost, which is not justified. Will not be returning; there are much better options within 2 blocks.

Overall, this place is unique, nice decoration, staff is friendly and attentive to details. Having said that, there are way too many other food options arround. The food was good and somewhat unique. I don’t think we will be rushing back

We heard this was the hot new spot in the East Bay and with friends went to dinner on a Saturday night. Since there are literally seven tables inside and only four two tops outside we had to wait. It took an hour to get a table and while we waited the shucker behind the raw bar was kind enough to provide us a free app of shrimp. It’s an interesting décor with a mix of modern and rustic. The menu is small and there were no specials so before you head here check out the menu online first to ensure there’s something you like. We had the cheese plate app which I thought was a nice homage to the former occupant. It was good. I had the large plate gnocchi which is twice the price of a supposed half plate which had close to the same amount of food. Order the half plate if that interests you. Our dinner mates enjoyed their half chicken and halibut. Overall, service was nice and the food was good but nothing was a show stopper. It’s a good place but didn’t live up to the high reviews others gave it. We’d go back for apps at the bar and cocktails, but the dinner did not live up to expectations.

Bywater is the bomb. You should go there, period. Ambiance: serene and blue and quaint. Hanging plants, a giant painting of a ship in the sea(I’m in love with this painting), large bar for drink-making and oyster-shucking. There are three outdoor tables and 5 – 6 indoor tables. Like many other new Warren hotspots, it’s intimate, but it doesn’t feel too small(ex: North feels small… Bywater feels open, and bigger than, say, Eli’s Kitchen). Drinks: Quality selection of beers and wines, and there are ciders! Plus, they have ginger beer and sweet tea soda and some other unique non-alcoholic offerings. I needed hard liquor, however, so I looked to the cocktails. The list is small, but I had a winning«Daily Shrub.» [this particular day it was mezcal, apricots, ginger, and lemon. Smokey and sweet and perfect for the conclusion of a Monday] Food: YES, ALLTHEWAY. The menu based on what’s seasonal, which I appreciate, and every detail is attended to. Monday is $ 1 oyster night(a big HOORAH for that), so we got 8 of the shucker’s choice. FYI I am in love with their Irish brown bread – an authentic recipe that’s passed down from the owner’s Irish relatives – and their yogurt butter.(see photograph for presentation, which is five-star). I was given a second round of bread because I was so crazy about it. The broccoli croquettes, a surprise from Katie, were a comfort food in the extreme. The mustard sauce was just the right accompaniment. For main dishes, we got the Shellfish Panzella(the cornbread! OMG) and Ricotta Gnocchi(it had smoked chorizo in it – need I say more?). Dessert: ice cream was a good end to the night. Bonus: the owners and staff are THE nicest people. They went out of their way to help my date with his flat tire, and overall improved our experience by their cheerful attitudes and friendly, attentive service. A big kudos to Katie and Brian.

Bywater was an amazing experience from start to finish. The interior is adorable from the colors to the seating to even the little leather pouch the bill comes in. Our waiter, whose name I unfortunately don’t think we caught, was friendly and knowledgeable and, when he wasn’t, willing to seek out answers. The food was fresh and beautifully prepared. We started with the beef tartare and trout pâté appetizers and finished with Cape Cod mussels, grilled swordfish, and ricotta gnocchi with chourico. Nothing was disappointing. The swordfish was moist and the ginger in the mussel broth had a great kick. The speciality cocktail list is innovative and their beer and wine menu certainly isn’t lacking. While it might not be the typical Warren crowd, I don’t doubt for a second that Bywater will succeed. I know I’ll be back.

Oh Warren how I love thee. Let me count the ways. …by counting your fabulous restaurants. Bywater is another great addition to the scene and for lovers of the great PVD establishment, North — I guarantee you are going to LOVE Bywater. The design of Bywater is farm house chic soothing colors and industrial design lights creating a great balance for a relaxed but upscale dining experience. The crowd there is equally as mixed. You are just as likely to sit next to a Pvd Westsider(heck of a bike ride to Warren) or a wealthy retiree in their obligatory salmon colored shorts. I will be very honest at this point that the food at Bywater was a bit heavier than my normal dining; however I loved the space, the service was welcoming and attentive and the food was totally on point. The corn and tomato appetizer was warm scrumptious and had just the right amount of smoky bacon flavor. The swordfish was a HUGE serving grilled and chilled sitting upon warmed greens that were farmers market fresh. My lady friend’s half chicken was equally a Texas-sized portion, but leftovers made for a phenomenal lunch the next day. We wrapped up out meal with North cookies(sweet & salty) with The Coffee Guy’s brew … and here is my only caveat regarding Bywater, they did not do TCG justice in how they prepared his coffee — very weak, but so few restaurants get the coffee right. Eat Well Providence… and when your feeling adventurous go by the water.

Ah, Bywater. Where do I begin? We went for our anniversary dinner and I was so excited to try out Warren’s newest restaurant! We went at about 7 on a Saturday and there was no wait, which was nice. But it was almost full and there was a steady flow of customers. You can sit indoors or out. We chose in because we were really interested to see all the details of the décor inside. It didn’t take long inside to realize that every single detail, from the lighting fixtures and menu holders to the presentation of food and even the soap in the bathroom… Every single thing was so clearly and thoughtfully planned. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The staff is all very friendly and very attentive. From drinks and apps to the meal and dessert, someone always let us know that whatever we had ordered would be out soon. I never felt like I was waiting on anything but I also didn’t feel smothered. I think that can be a difficult balance, but the Bywater staff knows how it’s done. I started with Bywater’s take on a Moscow mule. They added basil which gave it a great flavor. For an app we ordered the grilled corn eloté. It was grilled corn on the cob smothered in a delicious, creamy sauce with cotija cheese and lime. So good. We were also brought complimentary homemade soda bread, which was served on a little wooden board with a ramekin of butter and a little bowl of salt. The bread was fantastic and I don’t knew what kind of butter it was but it was so good I wanted to eat it with a spoon. I love the addition of the salt, too. Sprinkling salt on the butter really made it. For the main course, I had a hard time deciding what I wanted. The menu is actually pretty small, which I like because it’s not overwhelming; it’s simple and concise. I ended up ordering the ricotta gnocchi. The gnocchi came piled with pea greens and had pieces of smoked ham and mushrooms. The ricotta gnocchi was a different texture than I’m used to. More chewy than soft. Overall I really enjoyed the meal; it was super flavorful and I loved the balance of the fresh greens with the creamy, rich gnocchi and ham. My husband ordered the shellfish panzanella. It was lobster, mussels, littlenecks, and sausage mixed in a tomato & herb broth on top of cornbread. He loved it. The cornbread soaking in the broth was delicious. The sausage seemed to be house made but I’m not positive… Wherever it was made, it was reeeeally good. And finally, dessert! We couldn’t decide and since we were hoping to put ourselves into a food coma, we picked two. Salted chocolate chip cookies and milk, and house made coffee ice cream served with Turkish coffee to spoon over it. Ummm, amazing. Our waitress told us that Katie, the owner, makes all of the ice cream, and it all has a little bit of liquor in it. I believe the coffee ice cream has brandy in it. Bravo, Katie. Also, Katie was so sweet and gave us some of her fav dessert wine after we had let her know it was our anniversary. It was a really nice end to our amazing meal. Alright, I think this is the longest review I have ever written. Final thoughts: this is a wonderful little restaurant that Warren is so lucky to have.(Have you all caught on yet that Warren has the best restaurants?!) A little on the pricier side but for locally-sourced, delicious food, it is worth it. Bywater is the perfect spot for a special occasion. I can’t wait to go back and try everything else on the menu!

I went here after seeing a play at 2nd Story Theater with a date only because it was one of the few places open and still serving dinner at 9:45 pm. The staff was friendly, the décor pleasing and had just the right mood. I got the gnocchi, which was fresh and flavorful; he got the New England Corn pudding, which he liked very much. The food is a little pricey, but it is well worth every penny. What a delight. Since we were there late(I think the kitchen closes at 10) it was nice that the weight staff never made us feel rushed. Not once did I think about the time, but we had to have left after 11 and they still asked if we wanted dessert and coffee. Since nobody flinched or took notice that we were clearly two men on a date, I would have to say that it’s probably gay friendly. Again, it was close to 10 pm and there were only two tables with people finishing up when we arrived. All in all, I’m planing on going back when I have more time to enjoy a full meal. It would be nice to see this place during regular hours. Also, since it’s small and the food is incredible, you might want to be sure to make reservations. I can’t imagine this place doesn’t have a waiting line. It’s the perfect New England date restaurant.

Oysters to ice cream and each nibble in between. We stumbled across this friendly foodie haven while walking the East Bay. A great treat for a summer evening. Sipped a beer that was pared with my oysters, then the seafood panzanella, of course I could not resist the corn bread and Irish soda bread. Then home made ice cream for dessert & share a sea salt chocolate chip cookie. Not a bite left on any plate. I’ll be back with my friends!!! A must try if you are in Rhode Island.

What a fabulous meal! We started with a dozen oysters and moved on to the frites. For dinner I had the Seafood Panzanella. It was outstanding. The flavors were amazing. We tried the homemade coffee ice-cream for dessert, also delish. We will be back!

Yum! Love the little jar of homemade pickled veggies, and the chicken wings(seriously great, probably my favorite part!) I got the hangar steak and when eaten with the garlic butter it was truly delish, they did a nice job with the veggies and fingerling potatoes too. Dude got the pork chop which was massive and tastes like honking piece of delicious Easter Ham(in a good way.) Great all around.

I love this place. The food, the service and the décor are so well thought out and well planned that we immediately relaxed and had a great experience. The drinks were delicious. We started with the shucker’s choice raw oysters and had the seafood panzanella and the asparagus salad. Thank you Katie and Brian for creating a great addition to the Warren foodie community!
