I go here with my kids a lot. My kids get chicken parm(which isn’t actually in the menu). We think it is the best in town. The chicken is tender. I really love the mussels appetizer. It is cooked with a rich and garlicky cream based sauce with pancetta and caramelized onions rounding out the favor. A couple of times they were not well«de-bearded» but not enough to dissuade me from ordering them again and again. Overall, It is a bit pricey for what you get, but the food is good.

I had to update my review because I’ve now been here a few more times; everything has always been amazing. Perhaps the issue with the fish on my first visit was an anomaly, because I’ve never had another issue. This place is the bomb

Went to Bluewater last night. It was ok, not great. We split the fried Calamari app, which had diced tomatoes(??) and was flavorless. My wife had the scallops which had so much sweet potato purée, we thought it was a mistake. I had the salmon which had way too much going on. My sister in law had a chicken Caesar salad which was passable. My suggestion to the restaurant is to focus on simply prepared yet flavorful entrees. With all the terrific restaurants in the East Bay, we won’t be going back anytime soon.

Wonderful setting with a nice atmosphere inside. The mushroom risotto was delicious. My boyfriend tried their Valentines specials and he was completely satisfied with all of them. I would definitely come back and would love to see it in the daytime.

This is a solid place in a neat setting – the docks at Tyler Point. In the summer it feels beachy, in the winter there is something beautiful about driving in through a forest of masts, hearing the sound of the rigging clanging around like cowbells. Sunsets can be intense. The food is good enough and has some reliable standouts — the hamburger and cod sandwich are excellent and cheap, helped along by perfect fries, the rigatoni and the lasagna(something I almost never order) are delicious and very filling, and the chicken CVM(a gigantic panko crusted chicken breast with arugula, basically a hefty chicken milanese) has been good since the Tyler Point Grille days. I think some of the entrees falter by adding one or two too many ingredients. The seafood is generally good. Overall, I think the value is very good, especially considering the many discounts and specials. Bluewater is accommodating for families with kids(who eat fee on Sundays) while seeming to handle the older regulars and younger couples without difficulty. They hold seasonal events — like breakfast with Santa — which can feel almost like public services. The live music is often good. There is something relaxed and clubby about Bluewater, but of course it’s open to the public. A real asset for Barrington.

We stopped in on our way back to Boston, after looking at my dads new boat in the marina next door. We just wanted something easy, close, and with(hopefully) good food. The restaurant has lots of good deals, with each day having a different incentive. The atmosphere is very nautical but authentic, not tacky. I really appreciated the décor and felt it to be cozy, classy and inviting. My negatives come from the food, and the service. First, Gster ordered a soup and a salad, and said that both were mediocore… because it isn’t that hard to mess up either and yet he said both were just less than average. My mom got something off the gluten free menu, and my dad got fish, and I got a pasta with cream sauce, broccoli and chicken. While the versatile menu may be appealing at first, it also shows that they don’t really have a speciality, so the food won’t be that good. All of us felt our meals were less than average, and certainly not worth the money. The service was also ridiculously slow… like I don’t know if the waitresses’ leave to go work another job and then come back in between to greet the tables, because the service was just lacking. All in all, the resturaunt met our needs, and is a decent place to stop by on the way through, however, it isn’t worth going out of your way to.

Honestly, I am surprised at the bad reviews. We almost didn’t come because of them, and I am so glad we ignored them. The place was lovely. The food great. I will definitely come back. We had a wonderful server named Karen who was friendly and attentive. The appetizer was delicious.(Clams casino). I ordered the short ribs with gnocci and my husband had a fish sandwich. Both were great. All in all we were very pleased and would definitely come back.

Very very poor service. Not a picky eater in general, but not something I could ignore. Came here for lunch in the summer and had a very negative experience. Ordered the Monte Cristo, which was relatively cold and seemed to be prepackaged. A burger was also ordered and had to be sent back to be cooked more. When the burger returned, nearly half of it was gone. The waiter said it had broken off. He was mumbly and distracted. Lastly, relatively small portions. Overall, a beautiful spot by the water and a great atmosphere, but unfortunately fails in every other regard.

We are new to Barrington and after just one dinner at Bluewater Bar + Grill, I’m pretty sure we’ll be coming here often. The menu is awesome — especially if you love seafood. We ordered two kinds of scallops, both excellent, and the maple glazed salmon with baby bok choy, which was so good I could have licked the plate. They have a kids menu that is very reasonably priced and my toddler certainly seemed to enjoy it. If we didn’t have birthday cake waiting at home, we would have ordered dessert.

One of my worst restaurant experiences. One of the people in my party was falsely accused of having a fake ID. Our waiter took the ID to management, and told us the owner would come talk to us. This ended up monopolizing our dinner, as we were concerned he wouldn’t get his license back. Although we asked multiple times, we were just told the owner would come by. It wasn’t until after the meal was over that the waiter told him to go speak with the owner, who was cooking in the kitchen. Now, the way the kitchen is designed, the window where they give the food is right at the front of the restaurant, in view of many customers. The owner was incredibly rude. He insisted the ID was fake, and acted as if he was being a nice guy for returning the license at all, when in reality he was being a jerk for holding it hostage. Let me reiterate, this is a 100% real license from New York, which is one of the most secure licenses. Also, all this was after our waiter acted as though everything was fine, which was completely misleading as it ended in a forced public argument. I wouldn’t expect this issue in general, but I imagine that the owner’s rude attitude reveals itself in other ways as well. The food itself was alright. The mushroom ravioli was good, but too salty. Worth $ 10 on Tuesdays when they have the pasta deal, but definitely not worth full price. And DEFINITELY not worth putting up with the owner’s attitude. He told us not to try using that ID there again, very rudely, and we certainly won’t be back at all!

Terrible overall experience. The owner was incredibly rude to one of the members of our party. The issue lasted the duration of our meal and culminated in a very public and disrespectful confrontation. The service was also very questionable. For example, three of our meals came out before the fourth one was even done being cooked. The waiter would come over and fill up some water glasses while leaving others empty. He also was absolutely no help in dealing with the unacceptable behavior of the owner. And if all of that wasn’t bad enough, one of the meals had an enormous hair in it. Bluewater Grill is mistaken if they think that daily gimmicks and discounts can make up for awful service and an unfriendly environment. I would strongly recommend future visitors to Barrington to take their business elsewhere.

In addition to the somewhat slow service, mediocre food, and finding a hair in my pasta, we had a very off-putting interaction with the owner and chef that made this dining experience incredibly unpleasant overall. The waiter took my friend’s license to check its authenticity after we gave our drink orders, but the owner accused him of having a fake ID and proceeded to hold his license for our entire meal. The waiter promised the owner would come out to talk to us about it, but we had to repeatedly ask our waiter about it even after we had finished eating. Our dinner conversation was monopolized by our worries that we’d have to call a police officer to come approve the license so our friend could drive home after our meal. Finally, the waiter told us our friend should just go up to the kitchen window and talk to the owner /chef. We expected him to apologize, but instead the owner was incredibly rude, yelled at him in front of everyone dining there, and then acted as if he were being the nice guy in the situation by handing our friend’s license back. The fact that their restaurant apparently doesn’t know how to check the validity of New York IDs shouldn’t be taken out on their customers, and certainly shouldn’t be handled as unprofessionally and rudely as it. Frankly we would have preferred to wait for a police officer to come handle it. The owner told our friend never to come back, and rest assured we will not be returning.

Had my first Bluewater experience last night. I have to say I was very pleased. We sat at the bar and the service was great. Shannon was our bartender and offered menu suggestions to accommodate my gluten sensitivity. Food arrived quickly and looked just as delicious as it sounded on the menu. Being in the food business almost 15 years myself I’m big on presentation. As the saying goes«You eat with your eyes first» and my eyes were drooling! I had the CVM salad with the bleu cheese vinaigrette… AH-MAH-ZING! Another plus is the beautiful sunset we could see from our seats at the bar. My first experience was great. Looking forward to my next.

I’ve got to say that over the last year, Bluewater has done me well. There have been date nights with my husband, mother-daughter outings, even a sisters reunion and every single occasion has been great. The menu is fairly consistent and there is a good variety of choices. The Shrimp Diavolo is my favorite. The oysters are always fresh, fresh, fresh. They usually have a new beer on tap to try and the desserts don’t disappoint either. The décor is classy but casual and it seems like they have a different promotion happening just about every day of the week. Overall I’m thrilled to have a versatile spot like Bluewater right in Barrington.

Tasty as hell. That’s what I kept saying over and over again to my husband. I have no good reason why it has taken us so long to try this place. We went for an early dinner on a gorgeous Friday afternoon. There is outside seating, but it was a bit windy, so we opted to sit inside. I wish I had a view of the water from where I was sitting, but you are surrounded by boat yards and there were a lot of dry docked boats in the way. The cocktail list looked interesting, but I went with wine. There was a decent selection and prices weren’t bad. We started off with the grilled margarita pizza($ 11.50) appetizer. When the waitress tells you it isn’t that big, don’t listen. This is better to split for a table of four or you are going to roll out of there. It was tasty, but I prefer a slightly thinner crust. It was still good though. For entrees my husband went with the salmon(as he always does) for $ 22 and I went with the scallops for $ 24.00. My meal was… wait for it… tasty as hell. It consisted of four good-sized scallops, pearl couscous, summer squash, spinach and bacon and a blueberry gastrique on the scallops. Tasty as hell. My husband was happy with his salmon also. At that point I was ready to roll out of there, but my husband wanted dessert. The dessert list looked good. He went with probably what would have been my last choice, the mixed berry tart served warm with vanilla ice cream, cream, and blueberries. I had a taste and it was pretty good. Bluewater Bar and Grill is definitely worth a try if you are in the area. I’ll be back.

Our visit here tonight was spontaneous though it had been on our list for awhile. I was pleasantly surprised with all aspects of our dining experience. First(check my tip), local draft brews on tap for $ 4.50 was a nice start. This alone gives me a convenient excuse to have 3 pints instead of… well OK, let’s just say that the 3 pints were less expensive than they normally would be. I chose one of my favorites: Foolproof’s Farmhouse Ale. Next we decided on our appetizer– the margherita pizza. The sauce was flavorful especially after it cooled a little. My only(slight) comment is that I wished that the crust was a little thinner(very minor). For my main course I had the salmon with bok choy, mushrooms, and a chili sauce glaze. I enjoyed this lot! I did choose to split the multi-berry fruit tart for dessert which was also delicious. Service was also very attentive. 4.5 stars seems more like it and I will definitely will be back to try some of the regular and special dishes!

Not overly impressed with this place. The ambiance is chic with a touch of nautical inspiration. The menu had a nice selection from meats to pastas and seafood choices altho some items were very pricy. We sat at the bar and eventho the bartender was behind the bar 90% of the time we were there and we had trouble getting any attention and decent service. The bee had one other couple so it certainly wasn’t packed. I got a salad with chicken and the mister got a burger. Nothing was bad but nothing great to rush back for… plus not great service and pricy!
