I was really hoping to love this place… tried it to compare it to Bristol Total Fitness… Staff isn’t professional and basically can’t find one around. Gym is clean. Women’s restrooms have 2 showers! The atmosphere is terrible… Stuff everywhere, every ounce of space is filled with junk. Not impressed at all. Actually, couldn’t wait until my workout was over to leave. I love taking group exercise read more«classes, spin, etc, but I just couldn’t get much out of the classes. The spin class is just horrible, bikes are extremely old!!! The instructor had a boom box radio playing cd’s and wasn’t in shape at all, poor example! The cd skipped every 5 seconds! I was afraid the bike was going to fall apart! Never again will I take spin here! Can’t wait until my month is over to go back to BTF!!! If you are looking for a good gym don’t go here go to Bristol Total!!!

I cannot say enough good things about this gym! My boyfriend and I moved to the area over the summer and had already joined another gym before touring 426. The day after our tour we withdrew our membership there and joined 426. I was immediately impressed by their cohesive décor and equipment: colors all matching, everything in great shape, no damaged or ripped seating, and the whole gym was extremely clean. At many gyms we’d been to before, all treadmills, elipticals, etc were all new but everything in the weight training areas, where we primarily focus our work-outs, would be very old, dirty, broken, or out-dated. I was thrilled to see this was not at all the case here. I was also relieved by everyone’s attitude there, members and employees alike all are very friendly and seemed actually happy to be there, not at all the intimidating jerks everybody worries about running into at a gym. I’d never taken group classes at any gym before and wanted to start. I couldn’t believe they had a spin class, Indo-Row classroom, dance studio, batting cages, golf, a giant obsticle course, plus two other rooms where they have such a huge array of unique class. Having been a member for the past 6 months, I’ve taken 9 of the different classes that they offer and have thoroughly enjoyed each one. The instructors are all very knowledgable and know how to keep the classes exiting and make each a great work-out. I really feel like they’ve thought of every detail here. From the locker rooms to the daycare to their terrific ladies-only room to their private room for personal training, they even thought to have their hip adductor/abductor machine facing a corner, which if you’ve used one before(ladies especially) you know why this is a plus. I never want to work-out anywhere else and I’m confident that whether your goals are building muscle, losing weight, getting back into shape or trying new challenging classes that anybody would be more than pleased with this gym.

I was really hoping to love this place… Staff is very friendly and professional. Gym is new, clean and well-designed. Feels great to work-out in this center. Women’s restrooms have 2 showers with modern hair dryers. Lockers are complimentary with towels. Plenty of parking. There is a wide variety of classes which impressed me. The only downside for me was that the classes weren’t actually fun! I found the teachers to be very good, but not much fun. I love taking group exercise classes, spin, etc, but I just couldn’t get into classes here.

LOVE this gym. Clean. New. Bright. Vibrant. Very updated space. Locker rooms are nice, feels extremely high-end for a gym. Classes are great — Yoga, Zumba, and Step are favorites. Decent schedule and variety. All instructors are great. Offers once a week free Zumba to check-out the gym. Separate room for women-only workouts, which is a nice option. Staff is friendly and accommodating. They are always looking to improve. A little pricier than other gyms in the area — if you aren’t going to attend any classes, I am not sure if the added expense would be worth it. But if you like gym classes at all… ABSOLUTELY worth checking out.

Great gym. They have every type of class under the sun — spinning, zumba, cardio kickboxing, indoor rowing(the only place in RI), dance, hardcore boot camp, trx training, you name it, they have it. I think my favorite part about this gym is the excellent temperature control. Nothing’s worse than a room temperature gym. All of the rooms for classes(each class has it’s own room because the place is HUGE) are decorated, classy, and properly cooled. They have smaller sized changing room then is normal for most gyms, but it does have two showers, two bathrooms, and two sinks. Lockers and towels are free. There are plenty of machines, a room for women only, and from what I’ve seen it’s never been too busy. 426 looks like a big warehouse, but they’ve done a really nice job with it. The manager, Paul, is also very nice — you can get a free 3 day pass to try out the gym and there are a ton of different priced membership/qasi-membership options depending on what you want to use the gym for. They have a parking lot off of Rosa street, with plenty of parking.
