With great subs and salads, this is one of my go-to’s on nights when I don’t have the energy to cook. They load on the toppings, and they make everything really quickly. I really like the guys who work here; they are polite and work hard at what they do. It’s tough to get them to accept tips, but they certainly deserve them!

This is WALTHAM’S hidden gem! Literally everything on the menu is amazing! Best steak tips in down… Their grilled chicken is amazing! Real Italian style thin crust pizza also some of the best pizza in town! There is nothing bad I could say about the staff or the food…(Cash only though)

I parked near here this morning and my passenger side tires got stuck on the ice on the side of the road. One of the guys that works here came out with some ice melt and pushed my car. I wouldn’t have been able to get out without his help. Thank you, thank you! I understand what people are saying about the customer service here! I believe it. I will be back to try the food!

The Sub Way(not to be confused with the Subway chain) is a favorite neighborhood pizza/sub shop. This is my go-to place for a steak & cheese sub(with bacon of course). They also have great steak tips. They have limited seating and limited parking, so most of their business is to go. They also deliver. The staff is great, and I would highly recommend you try this place if you haven’t already.

That grill, that beautiful grill. If the wind is blowing in the right direction as you walk down Newton St. you can smell the wondrous charcoal along with sizzling meats smothered in BBQ sauce. It evokes wonderful imagery of the summer even in late November. As far as subs go, the steak tip and«duke of rib»(think: McRib without that bouncy elasticity when you bite it) are excellent. However, their version of «hots» is only chopped peppers with a touch of vinegar and I was expecting something a little more fitting. The pizza did not do anything for me. The crust is thin, but sauce on top is heavy and on the sweeter side. It’s a shame because they have the right oven for it. They haven’t changed the cash-only policy, but several of the smaller businesses in Waltham don’t take them, and the money they save is reflected in the lower prices they have.

No frills sub shop; the thing that sets them apart is the fact that they have a real grill, not that flat-top grill that you get at most pizza shops. I live right around the corner, so this will probably be thrown into my regular rotation when I’m too lazy to prepare myself a meal. I’ve only ever had the steak tip sub, which were pretty damn good. They are marinated in bbq sauce but I had the guy add teriyaki, hots, peppers and onions. People have said parking is tough, but it’s way easier than on Moody Street. If your in the area, check it out.

My favorite neighborhood sub shop. Great food, pizza by the slice and huge portions! Steak tips are delicious.

This is the only subway i’ll spend my money in from now on. Their subs are pretty consistent(not like other subways in the area that put less stuff in it just to make more profit). The people here are nice. I definitely recommend this place.

When I’m in the area, unfortunately not very often anymore, this is a good place for eats. Call ahead and have it ready when you get there. Was great when I was working on the road, in and out. Though I have never had their pizza, I have enjoyed the subs and always left happy. I definitely recommend the steak tip dinner with fries… delicious. The only real problem is that parking is real tough out front. You can usually find someplace to park around the corner though.

I was all excited to try this place after reading/hearing how good it is. I called to place my order and was informed, after the fact, that they do NOT accept credit cards, as indicated here on Unilocal.Bummer, since I have no cash on me at the moment. I do hope to try them again when I have cash on hand. I will update then.

I grew up in New York where the pizza is the best; I don’t think that’s unfair. That said, the pizza at The Sub Way is good and cheap, $ 1.50 a slice;(NY prices are between $ 2.30 and $ 3.00 for a regular slice). I’ve had one sub sandwich there, three cheese and grilled veggies for $ix and change — not again since. Service is always prompt and friendly, only problem is no CC’s.

I had their pizza at a neighbor’s party and knew I had to check it out. Their pizza dough is thin, almost crispy. Sauce is sorta sweet and tangy. Done perfectly. Big fan of their meatball/sausage subs too. I only wish I lived in walking distance…

Total meh. I came here randomly because I was both hungry and didn’t want to clean up the mess after cooking, and I had been meaning to try this place as it is literally two blocks from my apartment. I got a burger and fries, both were mediocre at best. Dry burger, unseasoned fries. Boring food that I paid too much for. I’ll probably come back to get a slushie sometime, and I’ll report back after I try their pizza.

I finally checked out the Sub-Way today after driving past it a bunch of times — I’m always surprised by the name and can’t believe this tiny shop hasn’t been sued by the chain or something. Then again, judging by the aged look of the sign, the Sub-Way has probably been here for quite a long time. When I was in there, there was a construction worker picking up orders for him and a few buddies — which I think is the measure of a great neighborhood sub shop. No «$ 5 footlong!» commercials, no «fast casual» atmosphere, just good, simple, substantial food. The steak tip sub clocks in at a reasonable $ 6.50 and was seriously tasty — marinated steak tips(my suggestion: add cheese, hots, and onions) served on a standard-but-excellent sub roll. The chicken parm was competently executed as well — not superlative but better than, say, New York Deli. The pizza didn’t look phenomenal but I haven’t tried it – although I will definitely make it a point to visit again and try out the rest of the menu. Delivery only after 5pm, unfortunately, and there’s not much parking on Newton St, but call ahead, park in the residential neighborhood, grab some takeout, and you’re golden.
