Excellent academy! Been with Sampa one year now. Great instructors and group of people to train with. When choosing an academy — trust me, I’ve been with a few other acadamies — you want to find an instructor who cares deeply about his students and a good, matured group of people to train with. Sampa’s got both. Very rare. And as for Jiu-Jitsu, Man!!! Wish I started earlier in life, but I’m glad I found Jiu Jitsu when I did. Great excercise; self defense value is a huge plus. Most of all, for me; Jiu-Jitsu keeps me sane.

I had been wanting to learn self defense for quite some time. I looked at a TON of places online, in my search to find the right fit. I didn’t really know where to start or what was the«best» martial art, but I figured that if I could find someone that could teach at a high level, the skills that they have, then it might not matter which martial art I was learning per say. I found Sampa and after watching some of professor renato’s videos, I felt like he would be a great teacher. Luckily, I was right. What I have learned since getting started: 1) At Sampa, most of the training is done by a black belt,(Which is not always the case elsewhere) and it makes a Huge difference in the quality of training. 2) there are lots of options for class times. 3) the mats are cleaned every day. 4) there is no intimidation by the more experienced practitioners.(Everyone is extremely helpful and willing to meet you at your skill level). 5) you get hands on experience immediately. 6) Brazilian jiu jitsu is way more practical than I would have thought and it’s a tough workout. I would recommend Sampa to anyone interested in self defense or just getting into better shape.
