Ok, I read a bunch of reviews for his place before I went. *Tons* of negative feedback: slow service, poor food quality, etc. I stopped in for an early dinner with my wife and baby. We decided on the $ 24.95 all-you-can-eat deal. This deal is ridiculously good. Your choice of appetizers, sushi rolls, beverages(including two sake cocktails), and sashimi(the only thing limited to one serving per person). My wife and I had the pomegranate and lemon sake cocktails, and they were good; light and refreshing, and *endless*. Yes, endless booze. We each had a sashimi order, and the Maguro(Tuna) was damn good. We then had 5 rolls, and two appetizers. The rolls are legit, full sized rolls. No shortcuts or small portions just because it’s on an all you can eat menu. The quality of the fish was good, and the rest of the ingredients wee solid. Some people also complained about slow service: how fast do you need your next serving of food? We didn’t wait what seemed like more than 5 minutes between plates. In summation, for $ 24.95 this is an amazing deal. The food is good and the service is decent. I fully plan on going back to Oishi.

I’m not sure if previous Unilocalers that gave more than a star have comprehension of what good sushi tastes or looks like. I would be embarrassed to serve the rolls and sashimi pieces from their all you can eat menu. The fish that were laid on top of their rolls were cut into tiny pieces; clearly they weren’t trying to hide the fact they were trying to be cheap. To add insult to injury, the rolls were not even in the shape of a roll, they were a mess. You can see previous pictures posted. Weird that some people thought that sushi was amazing. I think it’s a disgrace to even try to call your establishment«fine Japanese food». Authentic sushi chefs spend years to perfect the craft of cutting the appropriate slice of fish to serve as sashimi. I understand you can’t expect all you can eat to be an omakase experience but this place was a joke. Seoul sushi boat in Concord serves premium sushi with an extensive menu for $ 28! There are other options in the Bay Area. Just do your homework. I felt robbed for paying $ 25 to be filled with dry sushi rice and low grade fish.

My children love Salmon Avocado roll(Alaska roll in most places is Salmon and Avocado. Some places they add a cucumber, so when I order I always ask for the roll with only Salmon and Avocado). — The roll had cucumbers. A lot. — much rice. — almost no salmon to be found.(I am trying to post a picture). — The quality of the present salmon was the poorest. It’s like they used the cheapest part of the fish, that is not chewable and get stack in your teeth. 2. The service: — When I complained the waiter was talking non stop about the different roll they offer. His bottom line was: «This roll is only $ 7» Ridiculous. — When I thanked the guys who roll the sushi, they didn’t even look at me nor acknowledged(they prob got offended at my criticism, or were just too busy watching TV) So NOT going back there!!!

Messed up delivery order and was 30 minutes late. When you call they always hang up. Restaurant did nothing to accommodate. Food is fair but nothing exciting. Could get same sushi from Safeway.

I like the all-you-can-eat option. It’s about $ 25. I don’t like that they limit the sashimi slices. That’s the best part! The taste is great but you only get 5 small slices. Their appetizers are good and unlimited. The shrimp tempura tastes fresh and lightly battered. The miso soup comes out fast and hot. I also like that the price includes a drink. However, their sushi roll options aren’t too varied. The only roll that I really like is the Baked Alaska. Otherwise, the rolls are average. The other issue is that their service is slow. It takes them awhile to come and take your order and they do not check on you too often. That’s on top of the fact that they weren’t too busy the times I’ve gone.

I will not eat or order here again. I work in an office in Walnut Creek… my coworker and I tried ordering over the phone and because it was only the two of us our order came out to $ 33.27. With tax it came out to $ 36.57. They have a $ 35 minimum for delivery… 1 mile away from our office. Because our total before tax came out to less than $ 35… they declined to deliver. REALLY??? Because of $ 1 and some change you won’t deliver. Horrible service! Horrible is an understatement. Absolutely do not recommend this place to anyone. I should have read the reviews before I called

If you like steals and deals this is the place for you! They have a special($ 18.95) which I get all the time. It contains miso coup, Gyoza or mix veggi tempura, ANYANY roll from the menu, and 2 pieces of mochi ice cream with any soft drink or small hot sake. Any sushi lover would come here! It is located right across from the Kaiser hospital.

We’re never coming back to this place. Why are their prices so high when the food doesn’t taste any better?

Yes, I am giving this place 5, count them, 5 stars! They earned them! I ordered maguro and ebi nigiri. Perfect pieces that melted in my mouth! Seriously!!! It was so great, I ordered the hamachi which was accompanied by a piece of Saba, compliments of the Chef. Delicious! The service was friendly and prompt! What a nice discovery! I will come back for dinner and bring friends!

One star for really good food(I don’t eat seafood, I usually get the bbq or teriyaki chicken) but from my coworkers, the rolls are pretty solid, too. However, minus 10 stars for service. I work at the hospital across the street, and we frequent this place. But each time we go lately it seems the prices have gone up another $ 1, and we’re not getting anything more in return. We can find equal quality food nearby for much less. From people who appreciate our business. Add to that the condescending attitude of the waiter last night, and our department will be spending our hard-earned money elsewhere from now on. I went to pick up our office’s order, and we pay separately because some people have cash, some have cards, you know how it goes. But we’re always super patient and polite, I understand it’s going to take some time to cash out 3 separate bills, not a problem. I had a seat and watched TV. He says to me, «If you guys want to make it easier on yourselves in the future, you could just order on one check, then work out the money between yourselves. That seems like the more adult thing to do.» I said jovially, «Well we don’t all have cash, some of us have cards. Also, we’re not very adult.» No worries, I waited around for our food. As he started to bag it, I asked if we could have some forks — 3, because 3 of us ordered. Sure, he said. Then I saw the chop sticks there and I remembered some of my coworkers also use chop sticks for their meals, but I couldn’t remember which tool the particular coworkers I was ordering with today used, so I asked if he could throw in 2 pairs of chop sticks, too. From the full bin of chop sticks in front of him. He asked, «Forks AND chop sticks?» I said, «Well, I need a fork, but some of my coworkers use chop sticks so if we could just have both.» He muses to himself, «People use forks AND chop sticks, I don’t get it. It’s one or the other…» I said, «Well, some of them use chop sticks for the food, but then like to use a fork for their rice.» Not that this should have to be explained. Jesus, I just paid $ 13 for bbq chicken, which 4 months ago was 9.95 and 2 months ago went up to 11.95. So we’re watching the prices rise, and we’re being questioned for 3 forks and 2 sets of chop sticks?! This little exchange was wrapping up as he finished bagging our order and I was on my way. After he hears my explanation of why we might need forks and chop sticks, he says, «People are too spoiled these days.» Nay nay, we’ll be spending our dinner dollars at places who appreciate our business, and don’t argue over forks and a whopping 3 checks. The place was EMPTY, too. I could understand some frustration if it were busy, but there was ONE table sat in the place, and ONE lady and her son also waiting for a take-out order.

Great food and decent pricing. The servers are very nice and attentive. I had the Golden Gate Roll and it was very good. 8pcs for $ 12, not bad. However the Miso Soup is Sooo good.

It saddens me to do this because the food use to be really amazing. The service however has always been horrible and even worse with there new«manager» as I was told, Hikmat. I work in the area and there isn’t much around with a 30 minute lunch. There’s Vietnamese which I’m not to fond of. A Baja Fresh that I ate at once and that always isn’t good at all and Subway, which is okay but that does get old. He’s rude on the phone and had no customer service skills whatsoever.

I was running errands around Walnut Creek and I was craving Japanese food. I remember seeing this place in a non descript shopping center next to Kaiser. I had ordered a Lunch Special Bento with Teriyaki chicken and received a fair amount of food. the Miso soup and everything came out pretty quick. I had also ordered Philly rolls and they were very good. the 3 California rolls were also great. I had literally only ate half of meal since I had to leave quick. I packed the rest Togo and it tasted fine for later that day. The price for the Lunch special was decently priced. The server was very friendly and I will be definitely be back to try more of their Sushi.

Wow this is a horrible sushi place stay away. Last time ever steeping into this restaurant. If zero was a star they would definitely receive it. Been here a hand full of time in the past but looks like new owners and née sushi food portions and quality all for the worse 1st lets talk about there all you can eat part of the menu the main reason I stopped by. They took away a lot of items that were on the all you can eat. And also reduced the sashimi part were you are only limited to 5 pieces. And the portions are ridiculously tiny The service and wait time where also was horrible had to wait 20 mins until I got a roll brought out to me. Which shouldn’t of took had long as it did because it wasn’t that busy. The waiter also forgot one of my rolls which I only ordered two rolls at that time, so I don’t understand how he forgot to place the order for me . To top it off one of my Philadelphia Roll looked disgusting and bad quality salmon I had to send it back and lost my appetite. I have never been to a sushi restaurant where the salmon was brown and soggy looking. Look at the pics I posted you can see this is bad quality seems like if you order all you can eat they give you extra smaller a portions and the bad fish !! Almost forgot the cherry blossom roll I ordered they definitely skimped the Tuna part on top, it was a thin of a piece of paper slice of tuna on top barley anything lmaoooo. If you’re looking for a good sushi restaurant stay away from this place!

Food is not very good. The menu has so many pages but it still seems like they don’t have a huge selection. Definitely not authentic Japanese food. They do offer organic selections. I’d say that is the only thing I liked.

I have mixed feelings about Oishi. The service is always so poor, I didn’t return for a year after a series of bad experiences. When I decided to give this place another chance I was pleased to find new waitstaff, but ultimately I was disappointed again. DONOT order to go, both times I ordered to go my order was not only messed up, but when I arrived after 20 minutes as I was told they hadn’t even began making my food. Both times were around noon on a weekday and only a few customers were eating. To make matters worse, the staff is unapologetic and actually argues with you about what you ordered. Why do I continue to eat here when I get over being angry? It’s close to my house and the food is good. They have baked mussels, which I can’t find at most Japanese restaurants in walnut creek, and they have a variety of rolls which are fresh and a generous portion. I’m still searching for a better spot that has good food and good service so I can be done with this place for good…

For all you can eat… This is probably the best deal in the east bay! For $ 25, you can all you can eat and drink! This menu includes a 5 piece sashimi, unlimited rolls, unlimited appetizers, and unlimited sake! The food is pretty good for an all you can eat place! The key is to get the right rolls with the most sashimi meat! The best rolls are probably crazy rolls, hot night, cherry blossom, spicy tuna, and Alaska! The only major issue is their speed which is pretty slow even when the place is generally empty.

Pretty underwhelmed to be honest. Went here with my dad and we ordered the spicy tuna roll, something that was supposed to salmon roll but was basically California roll, and chirashi. It was enough food, but the price(over $ 30) was steep for the quality. There wasn’t anything wrong with the sushi, it was just metiocre. Also, they cut the sushimi for the chirashi in long, flat, wide pieces. So bizarre. I would recommend splurging and waiting the Berkeley lines at Kirala or kiraku.
