JA Auto Service and Smog

Truly exemplary and prompt service; very professional and understanding. Both of my vehicles receive oil changes and were also smog checked here. I will most definitely return for such quality service in the near future. Thanks again J.A.

My dad called and asked how much a smog check for a 2009 Honda Civic would be and was told that it would be $ 30. I drove to the shop and there was no identified parking (the lots on either side were for other businesses), so I had to pay to park on the street. I went in and asked for a smog check, he asked for my keys to move my car, and ten minutes later (after having already started the smog check) he came out he charged me $ 70. When I told him that that he had quoted my Dad $ 30, he said that he didn’t remember that. He was very rude and insisted on charging me $ 70 and refused to negotiate. I felt I had to pay $ 70 as he had already started and I had not gotten a written estimate before he started. I am female and assume I was charged the for that. So I advise you not to go to JA’s. If you do, at least get a quote before you let him near your car.

I took my husbands car for smog and repair today. I am his repeated customer. Jafar (owner) he helped me. I live in Dublin and my husband work in the city. He had to take my car and I had short amount of time to get my smog and repair done. Jafar was very considering and nice. He made sure my car would be done on time for me to get back home. He’s very knowledgable and that’s very important to me. My both cars are German cars and it get really pricey going to dealer for service. Jafar prices and work it’s excellent. Plus I get a perfect service. He goes beyond to make his clients happy. I recommend him to everyone and all my clients. Been going to him for years and will continue going to him. Thanks again for making sure u do things right at the first time and u value my business Jafar.

We have had all our vehicles smogged at J. A. Auto Service and Smog,
since they opened in 2004, we sell pre-​owned vehicles in Walnut Creek
and they smog about 30 cars a month for us. The owner does his job well.

I pulled in for a smog and pulled out 10 minutes later for $ 38 bucks including cert. The staff was perfectly friendly was grateful for my business and provided quick reliable service… Can’t complain. Will come back for future service

I would NOT recommend this place to anyone! Not even my worst enemy. He’s very rude and a complete idiot! I was actually on my way to a different smog place when I drove pass this place. I THOUGHT this was where I was initially wanting to go but when I saw the smog sign I just pulled in. Boy was that a bad idea! I really wish I could go back in time and never have anything to do with this place. I ended up getting my car smogged there anyway because I was on a time crunch and I was there. I end up getting a notice from DMV saying that they cannot complete my registration until I get my car smogged. I wasnt understanding why I didnt receive my stickers since I did get a smog 3 weeks prior. Turns out Jafar inputted the VIN # for my car incorrectly. So I call up to let him know that the vin # was wrong and he said he did not have time to talk to me and that I needed to go down there and show him. I told him I did not have time to deal with this issue and that I could fax him my DMV registration form and the Inspection Report he provided me and he can clearly see the vin# does not match. He proceeded to say that he was 10,000 times sure that he did it right and I needed to go down there because it was impossible. Now I have to take time out of my day to go down there and show this guy that he was wrong when he could just update the system and correct the vin#. He has made this process so inconvenient. AND, after getting my car back from his initial smog it reeked of terrible body odor. It was so incredibly bad that I had gotten my car detailed and the smell just wouldnt go away because it was so potent. The only way to get the smell out was to clean my seats with baking soda and water. Bottom line is my problem is still unresolved and now I’ll have to go to another smog shop to get it re smogged so its properly sent to DMV. Two thumbs down for sure! I’m 20,000 times sure that this place really sucks. Terrible customer service!

I got a smog check here. Jafar, who I believe is the owner, was helpful, quick and friendly. I had a great experience.

Avoid bringing your car here! The owner Jafar lies about free retesting and is rude to his customers. I brought my RX7 in (which is a notoriously hard car to pass a smog check) but I brought it in to JA because I bring my car to a few different shops on this same street for different things and they are all very professional. This was not the case with Jafar. He told me if it didn’t pass he would recheck it for free when It didn’t pass I went and addressed the issues he pointed out and brought it back in the next day at that point he told me id have to pay again for another smog. I was annoyed that he told me it was going to be free and at that point should have just gone elsewhere but I thought «oh well ill give the guy a chance.» So I paid him for another smog check and he failed it again and at least this time he told me he would charge again for a third smog but why would I ever want to bring it back to him after he lied and then gave me attitude for it. I took the car down the street to a different shop out of a gas station and they passed it no problem in less time for less money. I cant believe this guy is in business.

I had trouble passing my smog test so one my co workers told me about JA Auto service in W. C Mr. Jafar the owner was very helpful n knowledgeable and was able to pass my smog in 15 min. I was very happy with his services and I would differently recommend his services to friends and family any time

I went here to get my car smogged because If I were to fail then I would be able to have a free re-​inspection. I was told it would take 20 minutes. I had a appointment at the DMV to get California plates because I am from Massachusetts. It took over 30 minutes and at the end I failed my test because I had a after market cold air intake. I told the owner Jafar that the little piece of hose sticking out was not going to affect anything. He also said I failed because my car was running «rich». I told him that I put 93 into my car which is why it runs «rich». After all of the bad news Jafar told me that I couldn’t get a free retest because my car took to long to Smog. I am never coming here again.
