Only been here once, and probably the last. Order a burrito and two tacos to-go but both were served cold! I won’t be coming back!

I ordered a Veggie Burrito Bowl my first time at Freebirds($ 7) and 2 orders of chips and salsa($ 2 each). Food was good: fresh, hot, tasty. Service was great — friendly Ned rang me up; I took my food to go, where I enjoyed it back at my office. I actually haven’t been back, but only because it’s not a really convenient location. Traffic at the Treat/Geary intersection is awful during commuting hours so it’s not the kind of meal I’d pick up to take home for dinner — but overall good experience.

I like this place. Good food, nice vibe, not expensive, and they don’t poison you. I’m especially fond of the tempeh burrito. Chips and salsa also v good.

Mediocre burritos with okay prices. Rather go to chipotle. Restaurant is unique, I’ll give it that. Customer service is good tho :)

Meat was good. Rice overcooked almost to a paste. Chips in the nachos slight bad after taste, bad oil?

Good food, decent atmosphere, but painfully slow service. Which is why I hardly ever come here! And painfully stupid. And it takes about 30 people to make one burrito. Seriously. I’m writing this while I’m still waiting for them to finish wrapping my burrito! All kidding aside, there were only two people ahead of me, and it STILL took over 10 minutes!

My friend has been hyping this place up for months, but I’ve never had a chance to try it because I live in South Bay. Well, I finally went with her when I visited, and it was so good! She described it pretty accurately: «like Chipotle, but 1000x better.» I don’t know how many flavor combinations they have, but if you’re like me and you have trouble deciding on food, you’re going to be thinking in line for a while. If you’re a first-timer, look at the menu before you come! I opted for the burrito bowl with steak, black beans, cilantro lime rice, roasted veggies, and a bunch of other stuff. Sort of like my «default» when I go to places like this. Their steak is so flavorful and tender. I might consider getting double/extra meat next time. The guac tied my burrito bowl together nicely. The staff there were funny and friendly. They may have had some trouble hearing my order, because I had to repeat myself a few times. No biggie. Even the guy at the cash register was really funny. Price was standard, guac extra. They have different sizes but the regular is plenty. If you’re super hungry, you can go for the monster, but it really is monster size. Parking was difficult. It’s a small parking lot and a small plaza, but the parking lot was completely full of mostly grocery shoppers at Sprouts. It took us a while to finally find a space after we sort of followed a guy to his car. Overall, loved the experience from the food to the people. I’ve already been back here a couple of times, despite the 40-minutes drive. They need to open up a location near the San Jose/South Bay area!

Really nice staff, very efficient. Okay choices, but overall bland food. Forced effort to be be hip. Adequate but the area has an array of better choices(like superb genuine Mexican food in Concord.). Price is okay. Ridiculously crowded parking lot in sketchy part of Walnut Creek. After I came out with a burrito at ~2:00 p.m. On a Friday and found my car window smashed and had my briefcase stolen so park at your own risk

Absolutely disgusting. I wish I could give them zero stars. At $ 10.00 for a Chicken Burrito(sour cream is a ludicrous $ 1.50), I expected a good burrito. All I got was fake Mexican food that tasted the same as the $ 1.00 burrito from T-Bell. I should’ve eaten at ecotle instead, despite the health risk. The workers have no idea how to make good Mexican food. I was so hyped to eat here finally, only for this disappointment. If you ever want Mexican fast food in Walnut Creek that isn’t Chipotle, don’t even think twice about hitting up T-Bell instead of this«restaurant».

First experience, probably my last. I was famished after my afternoon workout and decided to come here because I was craving a salad bowl from Chipotle, but wanted to avoid the halloween-goers and this place is literally a block away from my gym. Convenience is not always the best way to go. Food: Built my own salad bowl. Greens are lacking, wish they offered just spinach, but the fact that they have spring mix is still a bit better than Chipotle. White chicken was merely flavorless(expected that) and very dry(didn’t expect this). I added roasted veggies, which mostly consisted of onion, but that was good… just a little too oily. I like that they offer more toppings than Chipotle, but the serving sizes are lame… especially for the protein source. I asked about the different salsas and the person making my bowl gave me wrong information regarding the salsa I asked for on the side. I know this, because I looked at the online nutrition calculator before ordering. Service: Employee didn’t know her stuff and I had to repeat myself numerous times. It was empty, so service was at least fast. Ambiance: Huge place, inside/outside seating, it was completely empty when I went in around lunch time. Price: Comparable to Chipotle. However, the portion, taste and overall quality is not comparable in my opinion. Overall: Service was okay, aside from the fact that the employee seemed uneducated about their menu/toppings. I had to add a ton of stuff(lime, salsa, etc.) to enhance the overall flavor of my salad. I don’t do that at Chipotle. I’m sticking to Chipotle next time.

Great service, delicious healthly food. Free range chickenx no antibiotics… I love the concept. Super fun, kid friendly and pretty fair price for portion size. The food didn’t look like it was out for hours either and you get lots of options! Parking is rough, though, but not just for freebirds — that entire shopping center.

I visited Freebirds several times when they first opened in Walnut Creek and hadn’t been back until today. I had earned some freebies from joining their customer loyalty program. I had checked on their website, that I had 1 free drink and 1 free«Make it A Deal» that I had earned. I then placed my order online and went to pick it up. When I tried to get these freebies, I was told that they weren’t honoring this anymore. This bothered me and in addition my wife’s ordered was messed up. I’ll be going to Chipotle next time.

Oh my goodness what on earth is happening at this establishment? Being an avid Freebirds lover in Texas I was horrified by what I experienced tonight. We got two bowls both of which where disgusting. Threw them out and didn’t even try to get our money back as we had such a strong urge to run out yelling fire fire run away! When we walked in we were immediately overwhelmed by how depressing it felt. The staff were obviously annoyed they had to be there and managed to ignore our requests regarding the food. This place makes me so sad!

$ 20 for 2 cold, small burritos + chips with what I imagine they use as salsa but is more of a chunky tomato paste. The food could have been 2 stars but the service gets a –1. Definitely not going back, also the parking is horrible.

Food is great especially burrito bowls and service is fast! Bathrooms super small. Staff should be given a uniform policy especially when serving food and your summer spaghetti strap top is so low that half your boobs are hanging out! So unprofessional!

I was hoping that this place would have been better. I agree with many other reviewers that Chipotle is doing a much better job of fast-casual. The ingredients were fine, but nothing to differentiate them from any other place. I ended up with the Freebird burrito with carnitas. The meal left me wanting. What did I learn today? With the parking being a nightmare here, Freebird is not worth the headache.

Not sure what was going on with Freebirds last night but it was a disorganized disaster. Phoned in orders piling up, the line backed up, workers rushing around in a frazzled frenzy, the phone order customers coming up complaining of inaccurate orders. Our experience: We waited for quite some time in the normal line for the workers to approach us as we watched them sloppily throw together a phone order. When they got to us, they rushed us so fast through, they forgot my son’s quesadilla twice. My burrito had little chicken in it and the pieces that were in it, were overcooked. It was a disappointment and the burrito itself did not taste good. My husband’s bowl was small and not worth the $ 7+ we spent on it. Upon checking out, I once again had to remind the cashier that we had ordered a quesadilla for my son. They eventually made it and delivered it to our table. There were no straws by the drink counter. Eventually a worker did fill those in. But it was a disorganized mess. And the weird thing, there were not that many people there. I’ve seen far bigger crowds at other restaurants. And yet they seemed unable to handle it. I will say though — they have really good chips. Nice, thin and crunchy. Won’t be back.

I finally got a chance to try Freebirds! I’ve heard from several people that Freebirds is a Chipotle knockoff with worse off service, disengaged staff and a general overall wannabe feel. For some reason typing the word wannabe made me think of the Spice Girls: p I must preface this review with the fact that I am a Chipotle fanatic. I’ve been eating at Chipotle since they came to the Bay Area. So when my friend and I went to the Geary location, we did so for the sake of convenience, time wise as well as location since she lives down the street. The line was far shorter than the Chipotle in downtown WC. So the following comes from the view point of how does this compare to Chipotle. Food: More variety. Dark and white meat chicken. Good flavor, a little bit of a smoky taste. Refried, black or pinto beans. White cilantro rice or Spanish rice. A few more salsas to choose from. I actually liked theirs better! More fixins! Lettuce is actually shredded and not«salad like» the way Chipotle’s is. Staff: What is there to say? It’s food service. Anyone who’s worked in food service knows that it’s like retail. At the end of the day, you can only care so much and be so friendly to every single customer that comes thru that long ass line hour after hour. The staff was friendly enough just as they are at Chipotle. BUT their management seemed to be less on top of things. My friend ordered a vegetarian bowl and the guy said we don’t have veggies now so what will it be? At Chipotle it would have been, would you like to wait 10 minutes while we make some more? Ambiance: Pretty spacious and felt a lot like any sit down food spot where you stand in line and order food. Bottom line: After frequenting Chipotle or should I say killing it, Freebirds is a nice alternative with a bit more food variety.

The Burrito Bowl is way better then the Chipolte bowl. Less salty and more flavorful with more choices of sides to add. I ordered the steak burrito bowl at $ 7.45 and you receive alot for the money. I like the fact that you have a choice of spinach and tomato tortillas vs the flour and whole wheat. Freebirds offers burritos, the bowls, taco plus quesadillas. Yes quesadilla. In addition… Freebirds serves beer, next time a Shock Top. The atmosphere is better too, not as stark. Yay Freebirds!

Being a SF native, it’s hard to compare mexican food to what you can find in the city, mission, soma, tenderloin, etc. It’s just unfair. Regardless, at least they try at FB’s. They have lots of different items to stuff your burrito, some good, some meh. My real problem is that every time I go, they short the hell out of the meat quantity in my burrito. i mean, come on, my last burrito, I got ¾ of the way before I reached a piece of carne asada. I thought weither themeat fell out or they made me a veggie burrito — that sparse. So, my advice, Free the Bird and Free the Cow and put some damn meat in my burrito, damnit!!! Ya feel me?
