Just moved here from Montana. So I know beef, and apparently so does Vinny. The roast beef was spot on… Moist, tender, and beefy. And don’t get me started about that horseradish sauce. My wife never had horseradish before and after she had a bite of my «serenity» her eyes lit up and she said, «I have never FELT anything like that before.»… It rocked her world. Anyways, My wife and I each got a sub and our jaws dropped when we saw the size of our sandwiches. Let’s just say we didn’t eat dinner that night because we were still stuffed. The ambience is on point and I plan on going here on a weekly basis. I can’t wait to try the lobster roll, but it will be tough to pass on the roast beef again.

Excellent, fast, friendly service. Take out. Very good $ 9.99 lobster roll, lots of large chunks of lobster. Roll way soggy however. Must request toasted roll next time. Vinnie’s should have thought of this on their own. Will try famous roast beef next time

Good option to stop for lunch. Small sandwich stop with a few tables. Mostly two seats and a few four tops. You order from the counter on the right and pay on the left. You can get your regular run if the mill sandwich like turkey or ham but they have a ton of other combinations. I had the Godfather and it was sausage and mozzarella cheese with the sauce on the side. Delicious. They have a good drink selection too with their own drinks. Iced Tea, Cream Soda and Root Beer. Nice touch. The parking fills up quickly when it gets busy. You can also take out too. Service was nice and friendly.

Once you get past all the bells and whistles of the pictures on the walls to The Elvis Billboard this place is average. I bought a roast beef sandwich on a specialty roll with horse radish asked the girl to add Swiss Lettuce Tomato Mayo .I grabbed a potato salad, macaroni salad, and a cookie couple drinks some chips roughy $ 20 out the door. Get home my sandwich had only the Horseradish on it. I don’t get it ! My order was very simple«give me that plus add Swiss, L, T, M? The potato and Mac were very bland something out of a bucket with some paprika as a garnish. I at least hope it was because if that’s homemade then you need a new cook or recipe. Best part of my $ 20 transaction was the disformed cookie wrapped in Saran Wrap. The place is off the beaten path in town you’d figure they try harder. I’ve been here a couple times I won’t be running here for roast beef or lobster. If I am in the mood for Egg Salad of all things and feel like making a drive I’ll give them another shot in the next year.

Great deli in town. Their roast beef is absolutely delicious especially with the horseradish sauce. My favorite is the thanksgiving turkey sandwich with stuffing, gravy and cranberry sauce. The staff is great. Love this place. Oh and the chocolate chip cookies you must get.

Have been here more than a few times and the food is generally pretty good but as others have noted, average in taste and quality. Last visit I got their daily ‘special’ which was a turkey sandwich. The turkey tasted like stale lunchmeat that had been left in the fridge for a week, I emailed a comment form about it but they never even bothered to respond. Normally I’d give this place 3 stars but following the non-response I think that’s about all I need to know about their customer ‘service’. I’ve had some decent sandwiches here in the past but based on the last meal and customer service experience I doubt I’ll be coming back.

If you haven’t been there yet go right now and get the Thanksgiving Sandwich. It’s for a limited time only but you will think about it all year!

Have eaten here many times. A little pricey. Larger bag of chips, coke, and roast beef sandwich 15.75. Not a whole lot of flavor in the roast beef. Also had sausage and peppers. Also not a lot of flavor. Like the fact that they use all American products but think the food is a little inflated.

I was driving down an unfamiliar street in Wallingford when I saw Vinny’s sign and the 3D sandwich jutting from the side of the building. How could I not stop in at a place displaying confidence like that? I don’t know what I was expecting, but I was very surprised on reading the description of item #54: «Hot roast beef, horseradish, and au jus on a Kummelweck roll.» I’d heard about beef-on-Wecks(or is it beefs-on-Weck?), and understood them to be a specialty of western New York. I’d never have expected to find one in south-central Connecticut, but here it was, apparently! The roll had a light amount of caraway and coarse salt compared to photos I’d seen, but it was plenty for me. The beef was satisfyingly tender, juicy, and flavorful, helped by the au jus; there was enough horseradish to accent the beef, but not enough to overtake it or even burn my sinuses. I could see how some might find it insufficient, but I’m sure you could get more if you asked. The place itself was pretty roomy, and dominated by attractive wood paneling along the length of the counter. There was a sign advertising soup, but the placeholders on it were empty, which was disappointing as they didn’t seem to have any sides other than chips or green salads. I wouldn’t have minded some potato or macaroni salad alongside my sandwich. I’m down in Wallingford once or twice every few months, and what I had at Vinny’s was good enough to inspire future visits while I’m in town. Their menu featured an array of very appealing sandwiches, though it would be hard to come there and not get roast beef in some form.

Good food, friendly people and convenient location right in Wallingford. Sandwiches are hearty and lobster rolls are buttery. Lots of interesting sodas.

Lobster roll i got there today was the biggest ripoff ive ever experienced. i could have eaten four that size and still been hungry. 9.99 for the smallest hot dog roll ive ever seen holding about 3 ounces of lobster meat. It was good but way too small to be anything more than a snack… definitely not filling enough for lunch. My husband got a roast beef on a hard roll and was also underwhelmed by the size of the sandwich. I guess times have changed but for 7.09 i would expect a bigger sandwich… definitely less than 4 ounces on his sandwich… we both agreed to go to rosas next time… Big sign on the beverage case says all american-made drinks inside had me puzzled… who sells imported drinks??? I never heard of soda or water or juice coming in from overseas before…have you? And just for the owners benefit here… a dissatisfied customer is probably at least three times more likely to write a review than a satisfied customer thats why you are seeing alot of negatives here.

After reading the reviews I was excited to try the roast beef. Like others have said, it was okay. Nothing great. It reminded me of all the other delis I have been to and I wasn’t wowed. I wouldn’t rush back…

I really wanted to LOVE it, but was so disappointed. I was excited for the most tender and juicy roast beef sandwich ever, but it just wasn’t so. It was juicy with the au ju, but tender it was not. Maybe just a bad day? Unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll ever know.

All I can say is WOW. The best roast beef sandwich I’ve had. They take pride in slow cooking roast beef overnight. The sauces are all home made. The price is cheap for the quality of food. I will be back to tackle different sandwiches. Vinny IS the roast beef king hands down

I really wanted to love this roast beef sandwich but I found it only average. I had the house special roast beef on the special roll. I was underwhelmed. It was tasty but I was expecting spectacular. Great customer service but I would skip it the next time I was in town.

I was bombarded on Facebook by Vinny’s(in a good way) about all of their giveaways and promotions for free stuff. I had to say that Vinny posts A LOT on FB, but the promos really get you curious. Anyways, it had been YEARS since I visited, and I was probably only 13 the first time I went so who knows what I could remember. I loved their HUGE sign(hard to miss) and billboard which made it very easy to see. We came in and only ordered a sandwich to go and come on, I had to get the Roast Beef! It was DELICIOUS. SO incredibly packed with food, coleslaw and Monterey jack cheese(see menu I forgot the name) and the counter help was so friendly, a nice young high school aged girl. I did not see anything look dirty or out of place, even after looking on the back«line» where they prep food. The young girl and her helper(a younger teenaged boy) were wearing gloves and all of their staff had their hair up/away from their face(this is huge to me). I also wanted to comment on other reviews I have seen about this place being«too much» or «gawdy» or «overbearing» I completely disagree. This guy Vinny and or whoever owns it clearly has a lot of pride in being American, as you can see displayed tnroughout with pictures, posters, and plaques. If you do not like that he purcahses everything AMERICAN made, maybe you shouldn’t be in this country, or how about just eat the really good food and STFU! :) Just saying!!! Let’s give this guy some credit that everything he buys is made in AMERICA where AMERICAN’S have jobs!!! Let’s go people! Now go there and get some roast beef it is freaking DELISH.

For a deli, it doesn’t get much better than Vinny’s. As someone who grew up near Buffalo, it’s great to finally have a place that knows how to make a proper Beef on Weck.

Looking for a lighter meal I stopped for a dinner salad, the description of the ‚“Italian salad«sounded good for $ 8, However it was nothing more than a soggy, cold, bland piece of diced and breaded chicken breast,¼ of a thinly sliced tomato that lacked both color and flavor, 4 to 5 slices of cucumber w/the skin, and about ¼ of a head of iceberg lettuce! No actual greens worth eating! On the positive side, it was fresh lettuce. That’s about all the good I can say about my $ 8 salad.

I think the current rating of Vinnys 3.5 is accurate. The subs are slightly above average, but always fresh. This place is clean and the owner takes much pride in his business(check out his Facebook he’s always doing raffles and games, it’s great). I think that’s important to ensure you’re having a safe meal and I would much rather eat here than eat somewhere that makes bread out of yoga mats. I agree that the signs are a bit much, I appreciate the patriotism but I could see some of the signs being borderline uncomfortable for some people.
