The pizza isn’t Pepe’s but it’s the same style… just a bit less burnt on the crust. The seafood is awesome, as are the lobster(medium size only, bring a friend). The personal size pizza is enough to feed a super hungry person… if you’re not ravenous it might be a bit much. The restaurant itself is an old Philly subway car but has some old NYC Transit ads… as a transit geek, this bothers me. The interior could use a remodel as it’s looking a bit worn but it is by no means dirty as some imply. When the Springfield line(tracks outside) is running normally… there’s usually something to see… be it Amtrak or a Connecticut Southern freight… currently due to construction related to Hartford line commuter service, train traffic is limited. It’s a shame I didn’t come here more often before I moved to New York.

This is a Wallingford classic dine-out spot. The pizza is New Haven style brick oven. The crust is light and thin but not too crunchy or over done. AND they serve Foxen Park soda!!! Honestly its as good as it gets. Whats better than pizza and birch beer??? Try it, eat in or take out — you won’t be disapointed.

Good pizza and very good buffalo wings too! They deliver sometimes here and there if I ask which is nice. Seems like it’s the owner or manager delivering so I am sure to tip handsomely. They also have Foxon Park sodas which is great to give back to local businesses.

Went here for the first time after living in Wallingford for almost 10 years. I read some of the reviews so my expectations were average. I took my 2 little ones on a Wednesday evening and the place was pretty dead. It was/is filthy. Even my 10 year old said«are you sure this place passed its health code inspection?». Seriously, I took my 4 year old to the bathroom & she was so grossed out she didn’t want to use it. I get the«kitsch» of the train car but the structure is really in a state of disrepair & if the kitchen is as dirty as the bathroom, I don’t know how this place is open. Our pizza was o/k, nothing to rave about. Honestly, I was so grossed out by the chairs & booths & table that I couldn’t get us out of there fast enough. I’d say I might get take out but really, how clean is the kitchen?

The pizza was very undercooked. We were pretty disappointed, especially because it’s supposed to be brick oven style. Will not be returning.

Probably the best pizza in town. Trackside is such a great hidden gem. Its a little small inside, but that is to be expected when a restaurant is built in a train car. Service is fast. The food(not just the pizza) is outstanding, and I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I like the pizza at trackside and have both dined in and gotten take out. The crust isn’t so thin that you end up with half burnt crust and holds an ample amount of toppings(I always get the veggie special). The time we ate in no trains had gone by but I can see this place being a fun for any children who remotely are into trains, it is so close to the track!

Definitely a place to checkout if you’re in Wallingford! It’s the only place in town that makes a good New Haven style pizza. They’re always nice and you can get Foxon Park sodas. The buffalo wings taste like they’re store bought, but the pizza is fantastic. It can be a little pricey, but definitely worth it for a treat.

The pizza is not bad. It’s not amazing. It doesn’t such. I’m fine with the train car motif, but here’s a tip: the old beat up crappy train seats don’t make good restaurant seats.

I really wanted to like this place more than I did. I tried to find the bright side on every aspect & it just wasn’t happening. Let me start with although I am pregnant I do not look for a handicap or any special treatment but just as those of you who are not gravid I do expect common courtesy. When we arrived there was a wait, not much one group ahead of us so at max 10 – 15 minute wait. While we waited two other parties arrived. A part of 4, and another of 5. My party had a total of 3… The party that was ahead of us was seated & this is when things went down hill. The waitress then asked my party, in front of everyone if we were okay w/them seating the party of 5 first since they only have 1 large table — although my sweet potato sized fetus was performing somersaults & my mouth was salivating more than Pavlov’s dogs of course I said yes. I have common courtesy & it just didn’t make since to make this family with 3 bouncing kids wait… Then the waitress asked if the next group could be seated. I was left speechless. I looked at the woman like she had six heads & she seated the next table. If my 6 year old wasn’t eager to eat in a train & see trains go by I would have shouted some profanities and left — but the things us parents do to avoid those precious moments tears. I never said yes, but I did not have the chance to even say no. Come to find out after that party was seating, the party was related to the waitress. Apparently here, if your related your money is greener. By the time we were seated I tried to let it go — things happen, what can you do? It’s a busy pizza place on a Friday not. We’ve all missed the mark before. But 20 minutes prior to getting a soda or acknowledged is ridiculous as well. So now that’s how we are starting off the dinner portion. 20 minutes prior to soda, another 10 after that to order. Service here is horrendous at best. If you aren’t a regular, or related save your time. Go somewhere else. The food itself was surprisingly decent. Although my pizza was wrong. Yes, this dinner trip couldn’t be any more amusing if I made it up. We still ate the pizza & the waitress, instead of offering to replace says«Well, the other table got yours so theirs is wrong too». Nice work! If I wasn’t on the verge of starvation from the 2 hour waiting ordeal I would have demanded the CORRECT pizza. I tried to like this place, the nostalgia about it. The cozy feeling you get once your inside & the creepy feeling outside makes it feel like a bit of an adventure. The excitement of the kids when the huge cargo trains go by. But the staff needs a complete overhaul. Get rid of them all, start over — this place could be fantastic. But we won’t be back. *I will state I read a review that says the place is dirty. It’s not — it’s an old train so although it is worn it is not dirty by any means. *Go a few miles in any direction & you will get much better service.

This is my go-to pizza spot in Wallingford. Eating here is more of a novelty thing you do with kids. The seating is cramped and it can get a bit chilly in the colder months, so I prefer to just bring it home. I almost always get the buffalo chicken pizza(my favorite in the area), but have had many of their other pies and you can’t go wrong.

One of the best pizza places I’ve been to. I get the old fashioned marinara every time — and whenever we get it with company, people LOVE it. They cook the pizza with the cheese on first, then put sauce on top. This place is a little hidden gem. Very hard to see from the main street, but worth every minute to visit. Atmosphere is unique and intimate(it literally is a train car on the side of the train tracks. I give this 4 stars not because the food isn’t worth 5 stars, but rather because I just can’t call this a «5 star dining experience,» BUT I can promise, you will never be disappointed eating here or having takeout. They’re really great and always take care of you.

I am a fan of Trackside for two reasons. First, you can’t beat the prices. Second, you get simple, delicious food. My favorite menu item is their chicken cutlet sandwich. The ambiance is relaxed(seriously, you can go in your sweatpants and not feel guilty) and funky(old fashioned train car sitting alongside the Wallingford tracks). Tip: when it is cold, don’t sit near the door; it can get chilly.

I’m certainly a fan of the food… very good, thin crust pizza. I really enjoy the shrimp and garlic pizza. It’s very good. There have been times when I’ve experienced sogginess in the middle of their pies, especially on the larger sized ones. I considered a higher rating but I can’t overlook the aesthetics. My young boys love the novelty of dining in an old train car. I found it a little cramped, especially with a large party. When it’s very hot out, the car can be uncomfortably warm. Their air conditioners were not enough to control the climate. The last time I was there, the dining room had a bit of an ant problem.

The service here was wonderful, and everyone was soooo friendly and that is why I am giving it 3 stars. The pizza wasn’t horrible, but it was really really soggy, so soggy to the point that even when the pizza cooled down you still could not pick it up. the pizza its self wasn’t bad tasting, but we got bacon on our pizza, and they put so many fatty pieces on it, that were just all fat. I would give this place a second try, but i would ask for my crust well done next time instead. Just because the people there were so friendly.

another one of those places i have driven by so many times and always meant to stop. and now after stopping I wish we had stopped in a long time ago! great pizza, cool atmosphere — very casual, very friendly. It’s a little brick oven pizzeria in an old subway car that is along the railroad tracks in wallingford. If you like trains or have a kid or grandparent who is a trainspotter, this place is aces. on top of that train-cool factor, they have a fridge full of Foxon park sodas(small and big bottles, diet and regular!) and a full menu of pizza and full meals. our pizza was thin — the crust is super-thin here(too thin? when it was piping hot it was hard to pick up it was so flexible) and nice and crisp around the edges with some nice bubbles popping out. the tomato wasn’t too thick or heavy and not too chunky, just right on the tomato. the cheese. oh the cheese. there was an awful lot of cheese on the pie, i like cheese as much as the next guy — but next time i am going to ask for a little less cheese. a cute little place that makes a great pizza. if you like old trains, sitting by train tracks and watching trains fly by as you eat pizza or parm, this is the place.
