I got the recommendation of Fratelli’s from a friend. I was a little weary as it was 6:30 and it wasn’t very busy. I happened to ask some others on their way out and they said it was amazing. They also had lots of Togo boxes in their hand as that is usually a sign that their portions are large. The bread that they gave was very good Italian bread. I asked for oil and vinegar but for some reason I was given red wine vinegar instead of balsamic. I got mozz sticks for an appetizer. They were good but very small portion. I got the chicken saltimbocca. This is chicken with prosciutto, spinach over kind of a gravy sauce. There were also some potatoes in there. It was good although the chicken was a little rubbery. You should never have to struggle to cut chicken. It came with a side of marinara penne pasta and a house salad. A lot of food for the price. My mom had eggplant parm which she said was great and the pizza looked good. I’d go back.

I am rating Fratelli’s high because it has the right combination of being a nice place with a some real Italian atmosphere, friendly service, a much better than usual variety of very well made traditional and as well as some very unique Italian dinners too. Try the Artichoke Lasagna with an appetizer like the Rosemary and Garlic, fresh made, baked Focaccia bread sprinkled with a very tasty Gorgonzola cheese with Pomodoro sauce on the side. Or try the Seafood Risotto dinner, served in their very special way. They make excellent standard dinners too, real good pizza, grinders, etc. Add to that the well stocked wine cellar, and you can’t go wrong. They have a nice lounge as well.

I ordered a couple of things to go with a friend. I had a meatball grinder and she had fettuccine Alfredo. I love having the meatball grinders because the meatballs are homemade. However, they could use a little more seasoning. To me, it seems like the grinder roll is homemade as it is crusty out the outside and soft on the inside, but I am not really sure. The sauce is not bad, but could use more seasoning as well. I had a bite of my friend’s pasta and it was good, but different from what I am used to for this dish. The pasta was in more of a thick cream sauce than a bunch of different melted cheeses. So, that is something I would probably not order on my own. But, I will be ordering from them again.

We dine here every so often and it offers decent pizza and Italian dishes. However out most recent visit was disappointing. I ordered the pasta dish which I have ordered before: pasta with calamari fra diavolo and unfortunately what I was served was a tasteless plate of pasta with watery sauce and undercooked calamari. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had a different cook working.

Usually very solid. Good food, good setting. That being said, I was craving stuffed pepperoni bread after a conversation at work so I called in an order. When I arrived home I was incredibly disappointed. It was thin, undercooked inside, and had an EXTREMELY small amount of pepperoni. It was essentially a greasy mozzarella sandwich with a light«layer» of pepperoni. Pepperoni bread should be thicker and absolutely loaded with pepperoni. Stay away from their stuffed breads.

Was a nice way to spend a Thursday evening. The bread was great, and the food was good. The service was just ok. Our server was very hesitant to make any recommendations when we asked for suggestions when choosing between a few different options. It is definitely worth a try

I’ve been to this place 3 times. It’s been miss twice, hit once, the last time I was in there, the waitress was TRULY baffled at the thought of someone wanting a vegetarian option. She also had no clue what some of the items were or had in them. She seemed like she was on the verge of a nervous breakdown. I felt bad when the people in my party had multiple questions for her but then I was like wait a second, isn’t this her job?! As for the food, the bruschetta was really good. The lobster ravioli was really good. My grandmother had a chicken dish which she loved too. Wallingford is HURTING for decent restaurants with pleasant/knowledgable staff. Hoping this place can step it up! If so, I’ll come spend my $$$ again

Wow. I am at the restaurant and just had to write this review! The zuppa de pesce with the diavola sauce is absolutely amazing! I was so sad that I got so full and could finish it! It’s a big dish. Soooo yummmy! I would definitely recommend this dish to everyone. My husband had the chicken scarbiyello and he loved it too.

We enjoyed the pizza here a lot. We had the cheese pizza, which was really solid with fresh cheese and nice bread, and the clam pizza which was our favorite — clams were fresh and pizza was full of flavor. Definitely a very solid pizza place that I would recommend.

I just realized I never wrote a review for here before which is absurd because my boyfriend and I come here so frequently. They do a few things really good! They have a restaurant area, bar dining area and a take out area. First reason– their bread and olive oil to dip it in. I’m not exaggerating when I say my boyfriend probably eats 3 loaves to himself each time we are there. Its fantastic! And you can order it to go in the take out side. Main course– the zuppa de pesce with the white sauce is amazing. You will literally want to drink the pot. Plenty of fresh seafood and again the sauce yum! Sometimes i venture off and get one of their chicken dishes, their lobster raviolis are also very good. Oh and their penne ala vodka! I got steak once and was very disappointed so now i just stick to the italian things. Your entrée comes with soup or salad. I always get salad but my boyfriend will get the soup of the day every time. Howver he really doesnt like their pasta fagioli but their zuppa makes up for it he says. Never had dessert or coffee their but we have cocktails and their sangrias and martinis are very good. Overall we love coming here because we’ve found what we like, service is friendly, and always enjoy our night. I havent found a place in the area we enjoy more.

So yesterday we tried to go to knuckleheads since I heard it was great and we epically failed since they were closed Mondays. Anyhow we drove all the way from new haven and decided since we would stay local so we ended up finding this place. When we first arrived I was very skeptic since my mom chose this place and myself am a classically trained chef(so I don’t have much confidence in her choices because she doesn’t understand the concept of fresh lol).Anyway we drive up and find out its in this plaza along with another bar restaurant that looked empty. So we walk up and start doubting ourselves. UNTIL we walk up to the host stand and she very politely walks us to our table. We see this very nice restaurant interior separated from the bar dining area at first I thought we’re little under dressed NOTTHECASE this is a family place our waitress jamie I think her name was served us awesomely our drinks were never empty and when they got close she would magically appear like spidey sense. We ordered the calamari, stuffed clams and fried mooz for appetizers. They were all delicious except the clams which although did taste fresh the stuffing was not that great. But was overlooked because of the delicious infused oil and fresh baked bread and other appetizers. I ordered the Zuppa de pesce and requested fra diavola sauce. When I tell you it was delicious I’m not exaggerating. Seafood was fresh out of this world and the flavor depth was so intense my taste buds were crying tears of joy. My mom ordered the lobster ravioli that was topped with shrimp and idk what sauce that was but I did sample it and that’s what I would order if we ever came back. Other dishes my family got was the pizza which not to fond of but I’m picky as hell as new haven style is the best style(lol), half meatball sub(the whole one is huge), and the baked ziti. Our waitress told us we didn’t look too happy but we were more than happy because it’s one of the best services and food we’ve had and we go to alot of restaurants all around the country. To sum this up if you want good reasonable priced meal and drinks with 5 star service you want this place here in wallingford believe me it’ll feel like home. Thanks jamie !!

Very nice. There is a bar and two dining rooms, all with pleasant décor for dining. My bolognese was good. TIP — if you want al dente pasta, ask! The local preference is for slightly softer pasta.

I’ve only had the pizza here, though I’ve had it a number of times, and every time has ended the same way — with PAIN! Their pizza is delicious going in. I mean it, it is among the best tasting pizzas in the area. But there is something about it, and I don’t exactly know what, that causes me massive gastrointestinal distress culminating in what I generally refer to as the Thundersh*ts. Because of that, I’ve stopped going and I wont be back. No other pizza does to me what Fratelli’s does. Truly they are like no other.

I have only ordered food by delivery, but I get the worst heartburn that lasts forever no matter what I order. This place is pretty popular with the people I work with, but it just never does anything for me. The last time I ate the food from here, I split a meatball sub with someone; it was dry as a bone and more than half bread. Never again.

When you first walk-in, you will be greeted by the delicious smell of fresh baked bread ahhh! I’ve had the pizza from here a few times and its definitely one of the better options in the Wallingford and Meriden area. I usually go with plain cheese or half pepperoni pizza. Its always hot and fresh and I’m always satisfied. Owner and staff are super nice too! Try it!

Crummy service and mediocre food. We stopped on the way back to Boston from New York. Dining room was nice, clean. Our server could not pronounce the specials. Words like cognac, julienne, and other basic food names were mangled to the point where we did not know what she was saying. We were never served bread although all the other tables were. Food was delivered hot after about a 39 minute wait. The eggplant parm was a mushy, sweet mess. The door to the hall was open and freezing cold, cigarette scented air poured in Not going back.

Well some things were really good… and some not. The bread was fresh and warm, with a hard crust and soft middle. Our meals also came with side salads which were average. My salmon did not have much flavor, and came with average mashed potatoes. The grilled tilapia was pretty good. The spaghetti(which is Barilla and not home made) and sauce tasted like they came from a store, and had very little flavor. The best thing was definitely the risotto! Highly recommend getting a side dish of it, will not be disappointed! Also, the home made apple pie dessert was delicious, the white chocolate cream mousse cake lacked flavor and had a cheesecake like texture. Overall our service was good and the place is very cozy and relaxed, but the food was a bit hit or miss. Great presentation though!
