A group of us went to Walla Walla last month, and my husband and I suggested we start at the Tertulia tasting room. We had gone there a year earlier and loved the wine so much that we even splurged on a bottle to have on our one-year anniversary. The thing that was/is so remarkable about Tertulia’s wines is that they are so fragrant. The anniversary bottle we got smells so strongly of jalapenos, and the wine another friend got smells like bacon.(We affectionately called it the breakfast wine.) I’ve hardly ever experienced a nose on a wine like the ones we had at Tertulia. We were so happy to hear that our friends matched our enthusiasm and also especially loved the jalapeño wine we had picked for our anniversary. Even though opinions on wine can be so different, Tertulia managed to please the whole crowd. Of course, the people pouring the wine were friendly and informative, and a good time was had by all. My ONLY(not actual) complaint is that the wines are much better had by the bottle, where you can really get into the wine; a tasting is just not enough!

This is a beautiful tasting room and great venue to enjoy the company of others. My fiancé and I really enjoyed our experience here. The wine was delicious, and I really enjoy their message of inclusion as their labels are a circle of friends. They do love circles — seriously visit the bathrooms, the lighting in the mirrors makes your eyes look really neat. I enjoyed their wines, but can’t remember specifics from our tasting. We did buy a bottle to take home and I recall they pulled a wine out for us that wasn’t on the list to try. They have very friendly and knowledgeable staff. I look forward to visiting them in the future!

I concur with the other reviews. They are located in a beautiful, rural location outside of town. The building itself is modern and comfortable for tasting. Our server was new having only been there for two weeks, but he was extremely friendly and very interested in answering the questions we had about their wines. They have a lot of varietals that are off the beaten path, and we ended up buying a bottle of one of them — the carmenere. I really didn’t care for their rose but we both found their reds to be very good. They were also the only tasting room we visited in Walla Walla that was pouring an ice wine, and that too was quite refreshing, particularly after having been bombarded with reds all day. I would definitely come back!

Loved Tertulia. Great wines. Brought a bunch of these home, definitely a place you want to hit in Walla Walla.

Great winery! The gal pouring the wine was the most friendly we had encountered at all the wineries that day. Nice wine! Thanks!

This was our last stop before heading home(one for the road). I am so glad we stopped in. This is a great tasting room. It is decorated with a great Spanish Mod theme. It is a truly beautiful space. They have a great selection of wine varieties here. They are all reasonably priced. The sampling of wines that we had were very good. unfortunately this was the last stop and space(and money) were running low so we could not buy all that we wanted. I will be back to buy more. The young lady pouring the tasting was a very nice person. She was fun to talk with and told us the story behind the tasting room, winery name, and a few other things(I am not telling the stories, you have to go there and ask). She was quick to recommend a few places for tacos(Dora’s) and recommended some of the other wineries in the area. This was a great way to end our Walla Walla trip and will probably be a starting point when the supplies start to run low.

I lived in Walla Walla for a little over a year. During this period, I spent nearly all of my paycheck on wine. No regrets. I managed to learn a bit about regional wines and take in the sights while tasting. I visited most of the wineries(at least twice), did some sampling around town and at home, and Tertulia stands out from all the other wineries. Tertulia is located in beautiful country and you can practically taste the surrounding rocky hills and rich, silty valleys in their wines. Yes, Walla Walla wines are special in character but beyond that, Tertulia manages to capture in a bottle something about that place that I loved and really miss.

the winery was lovely and we had the opportunity to watch the grape pressing. being our first tasting of the day, we weren’t sure how much to buy, but i walked off with a bottle of the2009 columbia valley rosé du mourvédre. we later shared it with our family, paired with a german meal that featured sauerbraten and it was even better than i remembered! what really made the winery for me-especially after a day of tastings-was how friendly the staff were. their friendly, and down to earth manner, made me feel comfortable and welcome. the fact that their wines were outstanding helped too, though.

Artsy, sleek interior setting in the vineyards. Great wines at excellent prices for the area. Definitely worth and hour or so…

Nice modern building, great service from the staff, we were treated to a barrel tasting on our first visit. We love this stuff. What’s great about Tertulia, they produce the Cab and Syrah that Washington is really well know for, but also are playing with varietals that no one else is doing. Tempranillo? Carminiere? Tell me more! I appreciate these unusual offerings. In all fairness not every wine made music in my mouth, but taste is such a subjective thing, that’s not Tertulia’s fault. For a memorable wine country experience, it’s well worth the visit. Disclaimer: I know the winemaker Ryan. So should you.

Beautiful location, wide open and well appointed tasting room and a very educated and dedicated staff. Tertulia is one of the new guys on the block and they’ve busted out of the gate at a full gallop. They offer several of the standard reds, as well as a very charming and balanced Viognier(76% Viognier, 24% Roussanne). I chose to take a bottle of this one home with me. They’ve got ten acres or so planted behind the winery and plan to expand their offerings by next year. You may not expect much from Tertulia, with their young — yet experienced — staff and opening date of 2005. But don’t be fooled: these guys are definitely on the right track. Expect to hear more about them in years to come.

Once in awhile you stumble upon something by mistake and it ends up being an amazing thing. We were leaving Pepper Bridge Winery and making our way to Isenhower when we drove past a small sign for Tertulia Cellars. No one had mentioned this place to us as a «must see» so we continued driving only to find our destination closed. We still had one winery left in us before calling it a day so we decided to backtrack to Tertulia Cellars and we are certainly glad we did! Their tasting room has a very modern feel to it, but it encourages sitting around with friends and enjoying some wine near the fireplace or one of the high tables. The tasting bar is curved which allows for easy conversation with others while sampling some of Ryan’s amazing wines. Ryan is a fantastic guy and took ample time to talk about his wines and even gave us a preview of what they were going to sample from the barrel over the weekend. I like wine but am a long ways from being an expert, but must say that Ryan is making some great wines and if you find yourself in Walla Walla, check out Tertulia, you won’t be disappointed!
