Tucked inside Whitman College’s Reid Campus Center, corner of Park and Boyer, you’ll find Whitman’s «Grill»(for lack of a better word). If you’re not familiar with Whitman, you’d never know it’s there. Officially called«Café ’66»,(a name nobody uses, and no one would know what you’re talking about if you asked) this place is all about pros and cons. So here’s the breakdown: PROS – Easy to get food for Whitman Community, especially when parents come to visit. – Definitely better that«cafeteria food», on par with good airport food. – Apart from their weekly grill special, menu never changes(pro and con). – Have a wide variety of foods for such a small place: pizza, burgers, stir fries, good vegetarian options, sandwiches… – Overall a decent place to eat, though sometimes feels a little overpriced. CONS – They don’t take credit cards. – Lunch hours are not long enough(10:30 — 2:00) — that is, late lunch is impossible here. – Closed during the summer and long Whitman breaks(Thanksgiving week, December/January, 2 week mid-March Spring Break) – Apart from their weekly grill special, menu never changes(pro and con) – Portions of side dishes like french fries are enormous and therefor expensive. Wish they offered things like«small medium and large» for various items. – Reid Campus Center’s architecture is a noise hell-hole. Seriously, major design fail here. Even during non-busy times, you’ll get a real blast of the espresso machine in your ear while trying to hold a conversation.
