I went to lunch at Aloha Sushi, after waiting about 30 minutes for my food I ran out of time to eat in the restaurant and had to get my food to go. I am allergic to gluten and made this clear to my server. When j finally got my food and opened it at my next location I had one slice of a roll and soon started to feel sick. I called the restaurant and the server told me he forgot to inform the kitchen of my allergy and said there wasn’t much gluten so I shouldn’t be too bad. I was highly offended since gluten intolerance is very serious. I got sick thanks to this guy.

Even cheap grocery stores have better tasting sushi. Overly dry and flavorless rice and terrible fish make this a place to avoid.

Best sushi in town! The staff is great and make sure you have the best experience possible. They have traditional rolls and sushi, as well as house creations that are phenomenal. I would recommend Aloha Sushi to anyone looking for great sushi and a good time!

This is the worst sushi I’ve ever had, even compared to bad grocery store sushi. The sushi chef was cold and rude. She never smiled at us and the whole time we were there, she treated us like we’d just killed her cat and she was trying unsuccessfully to forgive us. When we ordered, she asked me what kind of tobiko I wanted on my roll, a question I’ve never been asked before despite having eaten at a lot of sushi places. «What do you mean?» I asked. «What kind of tobiko?» she replied slowly in a tone that implied I was either dumb or didn’t speak English well. «Uhhhh…what are our options?» She told us three different kinds of tobiko and I chose the one I think she referred to as normal. «Alright,» I thought to myself. «This seems cool, being able to choose different kinds of tobiko, maybe the roll will be something new and exciting.» The roll was new and exciting. New in that I had never tasted such an unpleasant combination of flavors in a sushi roll, exciting because I thought perhaps I might get food poisoning from their bitter-tasting fish. I think the only reason I didn’t was that there wasn’t anything raw in the roll. Silly me for assuming«salmon» meant raw salmon when they had specified that the salmon in their other sushi was smoked. The«chef» also cut the roll into pieces twice the thickness of normal sushi, which meant I had to either stuff the whole thing in my mouth and chew for an uncomfortably long time, or try(and fail) to bite the thing in half. It didn’t help that the ratio of rice to fish was about 1:1. I’m honestly baffled that this place has been able to stay in business but I suspect it’s because there aren’t many other options for sushi nearby so people might think their stuff is average or above average. If you’ve ever eaten sushi anywhere else, including the deli section of your local supermarket, I can say with confidence you’ll be disappointed.

Friendly and nice looking staff. Miso soup was great. Sushi was just okay. Small and mostly rice. Pork was cold and not tasteful. Nice and clean. All crème colors, reminds me of old fashioned fine dining setting. I would like to see some vibrant pops of color and perhaps different lighting. Large space but only 3 bar style tables &1 small 2 person table.

Had the pleasure of eating dinner 6-12-2014 at Aloha sushi. The Sushi was outstanding, very fresh and prepared perfect by our Sushi chef Curtis Jasper. Curtis was really the star of the show, a first class young man with a big personality! If you are in Walla Walla and want Sushi this is a GREAT place to go.

There is something delightfully refreshing about Aloha Sushi. At the present time it is still the only sushi restaurant in Walla Walla. Whenever I eat here I always leave feeling like I’ve just enjoyed a wonderful meal as well as leaving with a fresh and light taste on my tongue. No heavy food here. Everything tastes heavenly and the sushi chefs are all very skilled and are willing to give you information about the food or suggestions if you are a sushi newbie. Today I had the sushi dude who always has a story to entertain me with. Sometimes they are so busy that they cannot take time out to entertain you, so you need to remember to bring someone with you. Today, I started with an octopus salad followed by a Rainbow roll. As usual it was all exceptional. The service was great and I was able to enjoy my whole meal without any wait. I also had a Tsingtao beer(or was it a Kirin – I don’t remember). I highly recommend this restaurant if you want some prime quality sushi.

The first time I went here was May 2014 with my fiancé. We live in South Seattle area so it’s a pretty far drive but my fiancé used to live in Eastern WA and swears by aloha sushi. We have tried so many places in western washington he wanted to take me to someplace in eastern washington. It literally is an absolutely amazing sushi place we both ordered 2 rolls each and then we ordered 2 custom rolls to go because of how amazing it was. The setup is amazing, the food is amazing, the service is amazing, and we got free BBQ pork. All of these factors makes me want to go there on a regular basis, if only I was closer!

I’m a sushi fanatic, and it all started at Aloha Sushi when a friend talked me into showing up and eating some raw fish for the first time. Since then, I haven’t found a sushi bar that I like more than Aloha. The rolls are innovative — my favorite is the Dr. Eel Good, which blends eel, jalapeño, avocado, cream cheese, and tempura-ed shrimp, topped in the perfect amount of eel sauce. I’ve also enjoyed several other rolls including the Aloha and New York roll. I feel like every time I come back to Walla Walla, Aloha has created a new roll or two to tempt me(and I make sure to return every time I visit my hometown). Thursday nights are an all-you-can-eat special; I’ve only been in town to do this once, but it was a blast. If you’re a Miso soup lover, make sure to try the seafood miso. It puts a twist on the usual soup by adding tender chunks of salmon and tuna among other fish to the tasty broth. One of my favorite things about Aloha is the personal touch. Once in a while, one of your personal sushi chefs will throw together a piece or two of something that he or she has been working on in private for you to sample. This can range from a couple of pieces of a pre-menu roll to a quail-egg-topped caviar bite wrapped in seaweed. Doesn’t always happen, but I love it when it does. It really makes Aloha stand out.

The slimy stuff that floats or swims around in the ocean is supposedly good for your health and can lengthen life expectancies to at least 150(according to the Internet, and everything on the Internet is the absolute truth). So, when I feel the need to have a healthy Friday night dinner and add a few additional years, like 50, to my life expectancy, I sashay(not to be confused with the hula) my way to Aloha Sushi. Paul, the owner, smiled and waved upon our entrance tonight. I recommend reservations particularly at busy times of year(holidays). Without reservations tonight at shortly after 5, we were seated quickly on the side of one of our favorite chefs, so we could watch her work. She took our order, and within minutes my lovely shade of green seaweed salad and the hubby’s octopus salad had arrived. The chef created the Gary roll for me, which consisted of spicy crab, crystal shrimp, cilantro, jalapeño and seared ali tuna. It falls under the raw/partially cooked menu and was named after the chef here who«invented» it. Same goes for some of the other rolls, named after current or former chefs who created the roll by trying different combinations of ingredients until perfection was created. I’ve had the Gary roll many times over the last several years because I know that when I open my mouth wide enough to shove a piece in, I’ll experience the same wonderful combination of flavors. The hubby switches up his rolls every time. On the corner of the dish will be fresh ginger and wasabi. Warning: life expectancy could be cut in half if too much wasabi enters mouth at one time or nasal passages could be destroyed. I’ve experienced sushi in L.A., Miami, San Diego, Safeway and on several cruise ships(while floating on the ocean, which should be the freshest ever), but my favorite sushi taste sensation comes from here.

I visited Aloha Sushi with my roommate when she was craving sushi and wanted to see her friend that worked there. This is pretty much your sushi option in W2 unless you go to the grocery stores or make your own. It isn’t bad, but I thought it was really overpriced compared to sushi I’ve had elsewhere that was higher quality for the same price. The concept and location are nice, and I enjoyed watching the chefs make the rolls. However, I wasn’t sure about the quality of some of the ingredients. Yes, I’m a bit paranoid, but when raw fish is involved, who isn’t? The sushi tasted good, but it was overall on the sweeter side and not really authentic(then again, where/what is authentic sushi??). The seaweed salad was very basic as well, I’ve had similar ones from grocery stores. Not bad, just very standard. The rolls were a good size, which was a plus. Honestly, if you are a visiting W2 I would recommend eating elsewhere and not looking for sushi. This is fine for Walla Walla, but be mindful that this isn’t the same as what you’ll find in a larger city like Seattle.

In my search for the best sushi… Aloha Sushi was recommended by a co-worker who’s GF worked there. my first trip, I stopped in for lunch. my thoughts were that the rolls were expensive compared to what I was use to in Seattle. but then I’m in downtown Walla Walla, so It seemed ok. I ordered 5 rolls thinking they were the size would be a bit bigger than my thumb. well the Waiter saved me and only made 3 of the 5. Big rolls. I ended up with lunch, dinner and a snack. Since then, I’ve been back many times for lunch. i get the lunch special. octopus salad, Miso soup, Ahi roll and green tea. it’s always good, fresh and well made. fantastic service and well trained chefs. the restaurant is clean, organized, no odors of old fish. Ithe rice has never been stale. The presentation has always been great. the owner recommends their Saki Bombs… I’ve never developed a taste for Saki. I promise to work on that… LOL

Having moved here about six months ago, we were really looking forward to Aloha Sushi. We called-in for take-away, and arrived promptly at the time they said it would be ready. The building and interior of Aloha was very attractive, with a clean presentation and kind of interesting little cubicles, set-up for the sushi stations. The wait staff was courteous and I was promptly attended to. My sushi was packaged in front of me, and I was asked if I needed various items. I cannot emphasize enough how nice the staff were, and that they seemed genuinely happy with their work. I arrived home, unpacked the little boxes and we were ready to dig in! The long-and-short of the rest of the story is that our sushi was not good. And we are so bummed about that! As other reviewers have noted, the rice was incredibly stiff, salty and… kind of like a big glob around the fish. This really impeded the flavor of the fish — but there was little in terms of flavor to be experienced. Very lackluster across the board. We did try the Mountain roll — and it was flavorful — but not in a good way. We tapped-out after the first bite(good thing that it was the last roll). All in all, I think we will be saving our sushi binges for when we travel back home, or when we know we won’t be disappointed. Nothing personal Aloha, however we were terribly disappointed. Sorry!

Bad as in baaaaaadddd-uh. This was the only culinary bump on our little getaway to Walla Walla a few months ago. I was just sitting here going, «Oh no! I forgot to review this place and warn others!» Now, in no way do I want a business to go out of business but come on, your display of sushi at your little«sushi stations» are a joke. Nothing looks fresh or from what we had, tastes fresh. The sushi«chefs» could be flipping burgers or serving froyo somewhere. They are not in the least bit authentic sushi chefs. We had a roll and I think a fish and chip entrée and I mistakenly started with an oyster shooter. Ugh, like a giant slime fest with cocktail sauce. No fresh from the sea oyster umami flavor. The rice on the roll was mushed and packed so there was barely a granule to make out and the tuna in the roll was total meh. The place is cute enough, it’s kind of bright with creamy yellow walls, high ceilings and looks clean. I think if management did some serious decent sushi homework this place wouldn’t be too bad. Until then I would never recommend this place to anyone.

Really disappointed! I went here after driving from Seattle to Walla Walla. While the chef was very nice it was very obvious she was not a formally trained sushi chef. The food was not good, to the point where I couldn’t finish my food. The rice seemed to be old and was not cooked properly. The fish smelled a little strong which is not a good sign. The sauces that were put on my rolls were way too sweet. I ended up leaving and getting a sandwich at Starbucks across the street. I would not recommend this place at all!

I am not sure what has happened to Aloha Sushi but it isn’t good. Granted I haven’t been here for more than a year but things have changed. Most disappointing is the slide that the service has taken. Both the chef and server virtually ignored me, only speaking with me to take my order or to give me my check. My requests for more napkins drink refills, etc went unattended until I was getting ready to leave. The food hasn’t fallen as far as the service but it has gone downhill too. I found it bland and the crayfish were super hot on one side of the platter and cold on the other making me wonder if the microwave might have played a role. I came here because when I lived here it was a great, friendly place with pretty good food for a small town sushi place. I was quite disappointed by tonight’s performance and hope that it is not the new standard.

Love this place ! They have great all you can eat nights, great party platters and all you need for an awesome feast. We enjoy dining in and take out. Their rolls are great, frog legs, mussels and extras are amazing. Sake bombs are the bomb. I have eaten sushi many places but none beat these guys.
