Fantastic. Great food, good service. The grilled tilapia is my favorite! But you can’t go wrong with any of the food tbh. Oh. And the green beans

First time having Lefty’s and will definitely return. I ordered from FoodScooter and had the chicken wings, mac n cheese, collard greens, sweet potatoes, and cornbread. Although I was missing the bourbon bbq sauce the food was excellent I been craving soul food for a while and its hard to find good soul food in this area. I am so glad I found this place my family enjoyed it next time I’ll try some dessert too!

Never had Lefty’s prior to the closing. The meat and cabbage were delicious. However the macaroni and sweet potato soufflé was not! The sweet potatoes had to much seasoning and not of soufflé consistency. The macaroni and cheese lacked a cheesy taste. Tasted like they used sour cream, not the best tasting sides.

Lefty’s was the go to place years before, but I am not sure what happened since they reopened. We have been back several times and every time they do not have a main staple item such as mac and cheese, fried okra, or fried fish. Lefty’s has been in business for years so this is no excuse. We have also noticed they have changed some of their menu items to ala cart, which is a big turn off to customers. They have also changed the recipe to the fried fish, cut back on portions and added a grilled strawberry pound back that has an undesirable propane taste. Along with the changes, you wait very long for your food and all of your items that you ordered may not be in your bag, and if you mention it to the cashiers someone from the back will ask you to remove all your items to confirm what your saying is really true! Lefty’s needs to go back to how things were!

The food is great! The dining area is clean and comfortable. The service is friendly but lacks a sense of urgency. It takes forever to get your drinks and food.

This place was amazing the food was fresh and the service was very good. I don’t now how I slept on this place for so long. I ordered the grilled park chops that are marinated in orange juice which made it so tender. Two sides come with the meal, so I had Mac and cheese and the fried garlic cabbage. I was too full for desert as they give you a nice portion but the I will definitely get something on my next visit because the dessert menu looked delicious as well.

I tried this place based on a recommendation. Our order took a very long time for such a small order and a staff member who was on break became concerned and went back to the kitchen to check on my order. My husband said he enjoyed the ribs but the macaroni and cheese as well as the sweet potato soufflé were subpar. The mac n cheese wasn’t the worst but it looked like it was made with really cheap cheese. The cheese was not really sticking to the macaroni shells. The sweet potato soufflé was gross. I can taste nothing but cinnamon. The staff was at least friendly but I would never ever return here. I almost forgot, why is a small slice of cheesecake $ 5.99? That’s above Cheesecake Factory prices.

Menu is silly… overly priced in my opinion but I feel the same about some other BBQ places. I can’t bring of family of four here too costly and if I’m spending that kind of money I can go anywhere almost

I’m left uninspired by the reopening of Lefty’s. I chose to Dine in. Which would have been an ok experience had the person cutting/chopping the ribs chose to do so in the back instead right beside the bar… He must’ve been mad at the meat because you can hear him chopping as soon as you walk in the door. Anyway, the menu lacks detail and doesn’t make much sense. They showcase only having three platters but when I asked to add an additional side to something that was not a platter she said I could order it as a platter. Whatever… real question why is a piece of cornbread $ 3? I still give them three stars because I’ve never been disappointed in taste. But the menu makes no sense and neither does this man currently chopping up ribs in my ear…

So happy that Lefty’s is open again. Had dinner there today and everything was delicious. We couldn’t decide on which side dishes to get because they all sounded good. We ended up with a variety. The potato salad was good. The sweet potato soufflé was so good it reminded me of pie. Fried cabbag was so tasty. Cornbread was served with a honey butter, good. Collard greens, good. Mac n cheese was good. I ordered the smoked chicken and it was very flavorful and well seasoned. Iced tea, good. As you can tell, everything we had was good. The food was homemade and tasted like your mama was in that kitchen all day. It was the perfect choice for a Sunday dinner. Next time will get the ribs. The only thing I would change is maybe lower the prices a bit on desserts.

I was so glad when I saw that Lefty’s was back open. I haven’t had a chance to dine in yet and have ordered carry out on 4 occasions. This establishment is pretty true to its Southern theme. My favorites are the collards and macaroni & cheese. I hope they sell fried turkey for Thanksgiving.

For an indoor date and indecisive tastes buds, I landed at Lefty’s and left pleasantly surprised. The server greeted me with energy and was very helpful. Like typical the wait after the food was long, so I went into the«mature drinks» store shopped and returned(order was still not ready). Order the brisket sandwich and a rib platter both were excellent, and that smoke flavor was absent.

My favorite rib joint, hands down. I don’t know what the negative reviews here are talking about. In fairness, one woman was comparing it to Tennessee and Texas bbq. If she’s had both, she should know better to expect the same thing in different regions. Southern Maryland has its own bbq style. And one guy actually said, «it’s smoked, not barbequed.» Cringe. So, what’s so good about Lefty’s? The ribs, the wings, the tea, and the sides. My girlfriend is all about the brisket and the Carolina-style pulled pork. I don’t share her obsessions… I think their brisket is like the best steakumms ever — deli-thin and dry. But I haven’t had ANY good brisket in So. MD, so I don’t hold it against them. The pulled pork wasn’t vinegary enough in my opinion, but otherwise pretty good. But those ribs… no, they’re not falling off the bone. They’re not supposed to be! They’re flavorful, just the right blend of tenderness and chew, and the sauce(on the side, of course) is delicious. I also love the fatback-cooked green beans, the garlic mashed potatoes, corn fritters, and just tried the sweet potato soufflé today… delicious, almost like pumpkin pie filling. Amazingly, the buffalo wings REALLY stand out. I haven’t had wings that good since the year I spent in upstate New York. Amazing sauce and the wings are fresh out of the the fryer, crispy and fantastic. Not to be missed if you value traditional buffalo wings, and don’t want crazy asian fusion or fruity carribbean pretenders. As for the service, well out of the dozen times or so I’ve been here, I’ve always had the same waitress except once. Girlfriend says service wasn’t so hot that time, but our usual lady is fantastic. It’s been almost a year since we were in, and she still remembered our usuals. Friendly and diligent, Tee is one of the best servers I’ve had, this side of a cruise ship.

Saw the positive reviews, figured I’d give it a go, well worth it! Best ribs I’ve ever had in my life! And if you love sweet tea, theirs is the best around. REAL brewed tea, not any of that watered down soda fountain stuff.

I was so extremely disappointed by this place. The reviews on Unilocal are fairly high, which hasn’t really led me too astray in the past, but we walked out of here and exclaimed to each other«that was *actually* bad…». I’ve not ever in 25 years said that about anywhere I’ve eaten except this place. We walked in, and it smelled amazing, as BBQ should. The restaurant itself is very presentable and clean, and the service is quick(if a bit confused). We order a rib platter(half wet, half dry) and a brisket platter. Sides: fried okra, coleslaw, mac and cheese and sweet potato soufflé. Here’s the deal: I lived in TX for a while and I’ve visited some amazing BBQ places in Tennessee, so I actually have a good basis for comparison. These ribs were dry like jerky on the tips and saltier than any ribs I’ve ever had. To the point where I could feel my lips swell a little bit and I finished my entire glass of iced tea in a matter of minutes. The sauce was OK, but had too much sugar in it. The brisket came sliced, on a sandwich, though a platter was clearly ordered. Again, salty, dry, and just not the way brisket should be presented. On to the sides: I didn’t hear any comments about the okra(I hate the stuff, so I didn’t try it), but the consensus on the coleslaw was that it was full of sugar — inedibly so. Coleslaw is supposed to be creamy and crunchy, not pumped full of sugar. The same goes for the sweet potato soufflé — it would have been so much better without any added sugar. The cinnamon added some good flavor, but the sugar has got to go. The mac and cheese was passable, but that may be because it soaked up some of the salt from the ribs… The kicker? We get the bill, and the waitress who we thought had just been nice and brought us out 2 extra little cups of sauce actually charged us $ 0.99 for each little extra sauce she gave us! That is unacceptable at a BBQ place. Bottom Line: If you have time to drive a bit further down the road, Randy’s is great. Even further down the road is the best BBQ in the area, hands down: Willey’s, out near Colonial Beach. It’s worth the drive. And if you just can’t wait, just go to Red Hot and Blue down the street — it’s a guarantee to be better than Lefty’s.

Stopped in for a late lunch and it was very good! I ordered the rib and chicken platter to share with a friend. It was more than enough food to share, by the way! We ordered white meat chicken, ribs and for the sides we ordered the green beans and potato salad! The potato salad looks like a mess, but it had very good flavor! The green beans were very good and I didn’t expect them to be! I thought they would be your average, run of the mill green beans that are overcooked and barely have any flavor. But they were the total opposite of that; very flavorful! To me the chicken was better than the ribs! The chicken had a very good smoke flavor and was flavorful and extremely tender! The ribs were alright. A little tough, but the other food made up for the ribs! The service was good. We ordered take-out and the young lady taking our order was a fast talker, but she slowed down when necessary! When I am in the area and wanting bbq, i will definitely be coming back to Lefty’s!

Watching the travel channel on a Saturday morning will have you CRAVING bbq! I have no problems cranking up the grill but when its snowing outside who has time for that?! Waldorf doesn’t have a multitude of choices when it comes to bbq. Especially compared to my side of town(Camp Springs). It was either spend 40 $ on lunch at Famous Dave’s for average bbq or try a cheaper alternative(which was only 14 $ cheaper). Some of the dishes here are a bit pricey IMHO. We called in a fried whiting platter and a ¼ bbq chicken platter. I had baked beans and collards and my girlfriend had sweet potato soufflé with collards. Her fish was absolutely delicious! I wasn’t a huge fan of the soufflé but she loved it. The collards were definitely seasoned well and my baked beans were pretty good. They kinda reminded me of KFC beans but sweeter. My chicken was SOOO disappointing! Ahhh man! The bbq sauce didn’t stand out and the chicken was kinda dry. The sides saved my meal honestly. I will more than likely give them another shot but the next time around I will try a beef dish. Maybe I will sample a few sauces before I go all in. P.S. The gentleman who took my phone call was very articulate and easy to understand. When I arrived for pick up, the staff was very polite and my food was ready. I hate calling ahead only to wait for 10 min and they were right on time! I can definitely appreciate that.

Lefty’s is a Southern Maryland landmark. I’ve been going there for years even after I moved to Virginia, it’s that good. The BBQ is hands down the best in Southern Maryland. I’m such a fan that I hired them to cater my wedding and yet again I wasn’t disappointed. The manager was super sweet and catered to our every needs. They were on time, reasonably priced, had a really awesome set up and my guests couldn’t get enough. To this day I still have guests who rave about the food. I highly recommend visiting Lefty’s for lunch or dinner and hiring them for your special event.

I was only in town for 48 hours and managed to hit this spot twice! The 1st time I got the catfish platter with green beans, potato salad and baked beans. This is definitely soul food. Took one star off because I only stayed around the corner and by the time I got home the two hot sides were cold. But the catfish was fried to order and is probably some of the freshest fried fish I’ve ever had. The baked beans were good but again they would have been better hot. I wasn’t a fan of the potato salad because I prefer it my potatoes softer and they were a little too hard. The green beans were salty as hell! so I didn’t care for them too much. The next trip I got the ribs platter with mac n cheese, collard greens and sweet potato soufflé. The ribs were good but I haven’t had a chance to eat the sides yet… But I’m certain I would go back and try other things from the menu.
