After driving to the north shore from the south, we discovered Sushi Girl in the side of the road. Ordered the burrito. We definitely stop here again!

Great little place with amazing fresh sushi burritos. Located in a sleepy little town it’s a great find. There isn’t any seating as that it’s a counter shop, but a few minutes down the road is a great beach. Highly recommend.

Just do it! Sushi burrito is a must! Try the poke and the burrito! Best sushi roll and burrito I’ve ever had. Nowhere to eat there so make sure you have a place to go… easy find on the beautiful island!

Heard about this dining experience, and was pleasantly surprised to pass by their window on the way to Tunnels Beach. I’m a sushi freak — I make it a point to try new sushi restaurants in every city I visit. This dining experience is worth the drive! I got the Poke Ball, Spicy-T, and Sushi Burrito. I loved every dish! The spicy tuna had just the right kick, while also very flavorful, and not all about the heat — was sweet, tart, and spicy; very well balanced. The Ushi Burrito sounded suspect at first, but when I bit into it, it was heaven — the beans, and tuna melded really well, and the sesame wrap added texture. Finally the Poke Ball — WOW! Great mix of yellowtail, pickled radishes/cucumbers, and macadamia nut topping over rice. I really appreciated the attention to balance and texture, while being creative in introducing new dishes into the sushi scene. Thanks for the courage of introducing an creative place to the beauty and culture of Hanalei!

Very end of the Island beyond everything… Going back and forth to Tunnels beach and Kalalau Trail I saw the tiny sign and remembered it was on my Kauai Unilocal list. Got the Poke bowl with kale & quinoa. You get a choice of one, but I asked for a little of each and Sushi Girl behind the tiny window in the door said that’s how she likes hers. :) Wonderful flavors and really fresh! Would order again and again.

The food here was amazing and the staff was very nice. Not a sit down restaurant but a grab and go. I had the Sushi Burrito which was fantastic. My husband ordered a poke rice bowl which was equally good. Will definitely be making another pit stop before the end of our trip.

Eat the sushi burrito. You won’t regret it! Surprisingly they accepted credit cards. No seating.

Check this place out! Pretty much a hole in the wall spot on the Kuhio highway on the way to he beach or Napali Coast. Make sure you plug it into your gps so you don’t miss it. The scenic drive is full of residential houses. The actually store looks like a door cut in half and is connected to a local general store — I actually it my favorite cap there. There is parking up front. There’s only a few spots but most people grab it to go, so there’s usually a free spot. It’s a small menu but very fresh sushi! I went for a simple ahi bowl but my bro went for the burrito and like it. It’s a interesting take on he classic burrito. It was quick and convenient, but price. Hopefully you never really go wrong with sushi on his island.

I really need to say that probably my review of this place largely has to do with what I ordered, and not really understanding the ingredients in the roll. I ordered the special of the day, the Tombo-Mambo, which had miso-marinated local tombo, avocado, cucumber, green onions, Hawaiian chili pepper, and garlic ponzu. It was the Hawaiian chili pepper that got me in the end. It was big bits of the pepper and seeds, which was the spiciest thing I’ve ever eaten. It was actually painful and I had to get my husband to run to the adjacent market to find something with milk in it to stop the pain. I wish I could say this was yummy, but I definitely didn’t know what I was getting into and thus did not enjoy my roll very much. Thank goodness for an ice cold Sobe! The parking is fairly limited as this place, the market, and the little boutique are pretty tiny and just off the Kuhio Highway near Tunnels Beach. We ate our sushi in the back of our car, which actually would have been lovely, if my mouth wasn’t on fire.

Drove all the way here from Kapaa looking forward to some sushi. It was still 1500 and they close at 1900. THEYRANOUTOFFISH!!! Sorry any sushi place that runs out of fish 4 hours before closing doesn’t deserve any stars. Looks like a boozshy tourist trap to me anyways… who puts beans and corn with ahi anyways?!

Ohmylordy the sushi burrito blew my mind. Just came down off the hike, and ordered that and the tuna and ono poke bowl with sea asparagus. The poke bowl was good, but the burrito blew my mind. Never had anything like it, and it came with this super yummy sauce that put it over the top! Each was about 15 buck and served from a window, but I was able to grab a beverage in the shop next door and sit in my car and enjoy. It had a fun kitchy vibe to its own. A real hole in the wall, and I mean that in the best way.

We ordered the sushi burrito and the spicy T. Both were amazing! Best spicy tuna roll of my life… The fish was so fresh! If you are in the area this place is a MUST!!!

This place was fantastic! Fresh fish and yummy fresh flavors! Sushigirl wasn’t hard to find with the map Unilocal gives you. Just look for the little door next to Wainiha general store when you get there. I ordered the sushi burrito which was really big and sooo delicious! Lots of yummy flavors and a generous amount of very fresh tasting ahi! The fish was so soft. Yum! It looked like a big sushi roll. The size of a burrito haha. It came wrapped in a soy paper with greens and it tasted like even the greens were lightly seasoned. This burrito was paired with a sweet chili dipping sauce that went perfectly together! We also ordered«the legend» roll which was also really good with really fresh flavors. Dip it in a little soy sauce with wasabi and it’ll be the best ahi avo roll you’ve ever had. I definitely would drive halfway around the island for another one of those burritos though. Best thing I’ve eaten on the island so far!

A little expensive but the sushi is great. They have sushi burritos and fresh fish. We needed to stop here, and were quite full after we wanted a «quick snack» Big portions, good food and worth checking out after a long hike.

Had this places bookmarked but didn’t really know where on the island it was. As we were driving from Hanalei Bay to Tunnels Beach, there was a «stop the car!!» The Legend Maki Roll and the Sushi Burrito were both awesome. Super fresh, really quick and packed perfectly for the beach. Was a pretty epic meal for two people for $ 24. Mahalo!

I’m torn because I really wanted to like this place but found it really mediocre. I love hole in the wall restaurants, but the prices they charge for their quality of sushi is not reasonable. I ordered the Legend, which had 12 sushi pieces filled with ahi, avocado, green onion and cucumber. It wasn’t bad, but for $ 12 it should’ve been a lot better. Aesthetically, the roll looked messy. Taste wise, the fish is fresh but it’s nothing special. I have to agree with Armina when she said the rice didn’t seem to be well made. It was pretty mushy. Plus, for a place that dishes food out of a closet and doesn’t have a sit down area, the prices should be lower. Overall I think this place is a bit overhyped.

I really wanted to like this place because it’s a shining example of a small, local business. We drove here on our way back to Princeville after a long hike at the Kalalau Trail. The storefront is literally a hole in the wall, or more technically a window. You simply place your order at the window, pay, and wait. We waited quite a long time, actually. The wait was interrupted by a drunk local whose car could only drive forward and he had already driven into one of the posts. Needless to say, we were glad to be out of there. We ordered«The Legend» maki roll and it was anything but legendary. It was incredibly bland and under-seasoned. Who knew you could screw up raw fish wrapped in rice and seaweed? We had to drench it in other seasoning in order to make it edible.

A literal hole in the wall with amazing food. I found this place on Unilocal and it was worth the drive from Princeville. They have a small menu but it’s quality over quantity. The poke bowl was one of the best I’ve had… fresh, light and perfectly seasoned. The special roll had Cajun seasoning with cooked fish(–1 star because I would’ve preferred raw). Their edemame has sesame oil for extra flavor. Their sushi rice is the nest I’ve had! You can taste the sweet and sour of the vinegar and it just amps everything up a notch.

Perfection in a bowl, in paradise, does exist. I’ve eaten my fair share of sushi but this hole in the wall blew me away. We stopped in after doing the Kalalau Trail and needed some serious refueling. We ordered the Action Poke Bowl and the Spicy T. Both were fantastic but the poke bowl was phenomenal. I even told one of the women working, «I don’t know how you did it, but you raised the bar after eating that poke. That was the freshest ever.» She replied that one of her boys had just dropped off the fish and she literally just opened it up. It was simply the best! I didn’t know what the little green vegetables were on top and so I inquired about that. I thought perhaps it was some type of seaweed while my daughter thought it was asparagus. She said my daughter was actually right, it was sea asparagus. Never had it but man, that was a beautiful addition to the poke. Loved their sushi rice… again, wonderful. Overall, we enjoyed it so much, we drove back from Anini Beach the next day and got dinner. Fabulous food. Definitely worth all the positive reviews on Unilocal. For sure make this a spot to try if visiting the north shore. You won’t be disappointed.
