Aunties Cottage & Ocean View Vacation Rentals

Auntie’s Cottage was absolutely perfect!!! We couldn’t have picked a better place to stay in Kauai — it’s incredible.
It’s charming and close to all the greatest spots. The cottage is not far from Tunnels beach, and just a short drive to the village where you’ll find everything you need (shopping, restaurants and markets).
Having this been our first time to Kauai, and not knowing what to expect, we were so happy that we chose Auntie’s Cottage. It was exactly what it promised. It’s private, (literally) across from the beach and cozy.
We can’t wait to come back and visit!

What a wonderful place. You really will find no other place like it. The star qualities are first the true beach location. It is amazing the price that she offers and that’s why the property is so unexpected and great. There is a full kitchen, and even coolers and chairs for the beach. Wyanne (auntie) is the kindest host; and she is very respectful too! There are two cottages on the property, however they are spaced apart and none of the windows are facing each other, and there is foliage separating them. The experience is the complete private beachfront experience in the lush north side of Kauai.

We are frequent visitors to this part of the island due to relatives who live just down the road. Due to a family reunion, we needed an extra place to stay when visiting most recently during July 2013.
We loved the authentic worker-​style cottage and property, very similar to our relatives’ home just up the road, where we usually stay.
What we liked:
— Location: Remote and on the lush North (north!) Shore, directly across from the beach
— Auntie, the owner, was patient and friendly through the reservation process and during the visit. She was very understanding when my lasy payment check didn’t go through the first time, oops!
— The simple interior and exterior of this cottage, which really lets you feel the «island lifestyle,»
— The kitchen had everything you need to cook real meals
— Brand new washer and dryer.
I am totally in love with this area of Kauai, it never gets old even after 20+ visits. If you are low maintenance, and like simple, affordable, authentic lodging and service, this is the place for you.
Auntie even accommodated our young daughter stay for a very minimal additional charge, by providing extra bedding, and towels. I would definitely stay here again, and again, and again.

Three words come to mind when trying to describe Aunty’s Cottage: old school charm. Aunty’s property is located just 30 steps away from Wainiha Beach and has two rentals: a apartment with an ocean view, and a freestanding cottage in the back. We stayed at the cottage, a rustic, charming building with ample space for a couple. We were greeted by a beautiful flower arrangement and welcome note from Aunty, a charming woman who has owned and managed the property for more than 30 years. The cottage felt very private, bordered by a lush hillside and trees separating the property from its neighbors, a rental property next door. The cottage decorated with classic Hawaiian furniture and art and is equipped with standard fare for a vacation rental: beach towels, a cooler, local maps and a basic kitchen equipment. We ended up going to the local farmer’s market and making our own breakfast in the cottage’s kitchen each morning. The cottage is located within walking distance of one restaurant, one coffee shop, and Wainiha Beach, which is great for walking on, but rough surf prevents serious swimming or snorkeling — it is best to drive either to Tunnels Beach or Hanalei Bay. Overall, we were very happy with Aunty’s cottage — the privacy and charm made for a great vacation rental.
