I’ve finally used their drive thru. The service was not good. They stop serving chicken and ice cream after midnight. The drive thru is open past midnight Friday — Sunday. The drive thru also doesn’t take cards around midnight because they shut it down for service. Very inconvenient for a drive thru. If you’re looking for a late night snack or early breakfast, go the Kahului one on Puunene. Disappointed.

New McDonalds. Super nice inside, but workers are not very clean. Last week I waited 15 mins in line for a drink. When I got to the last window to pick up my drink, I noticed the worker had a band aid on her arm. It was bright green and hanging!!! So gross!!! There she making drink after drink!!! Today, I waited in line for 30 mins and ordered $ 16 worth of food. When I got down to the window, the person making my drinks was wearing a hospital bracelet. I bet you are adjusting your eyes right about now… you read correctly! She was wearing a hospital bracelet!!! I questioned her about it and she said she was discharged from the hospital yesterday! They have this worker making people’s drinks and poking around in their bags of food before she hands it over. Never again going to this McDonald’s!!!

I used to always go to the Wailuku McDonald’s and I still do sometimes. Now this place is closer and also good when driving from kahului toward Lahaina. Clean inside and drive-through is wide and easy to navigate. Lots of tables and seating indoors. Food was warm and tasty.

One of the newer McDonalds in Maui. My family stopped here to get a quick lunch for the kiddos before we headed to the beach. Service was SLOW. Service was inaccurate, as we had to correct our order twice. The employees had no idea how to switch out an order. I hope they are able to iron our the kinks in the operations soon! It’s a super convenient location! Food Grade: C Service Grade: D Worth the Money Grade: C Overall Impression Grade: C–

Okay, here’s the rundown! Very nice McDonalds; clean, as a new restaurant should be! The parking lot is small, fits about 15 cars, and a double drive thru, but very narrow. The inside of this place is very modern. Ohana counters in the middle, and small café type tables around. Also a couple of larger tables near the front windows and an interactive lighted table, which is a hit for kids, but marked handicap! Not sure why they would make a table popular for kids, who will probably make no attempts to allow handicap patrons to use it! Very nice place to enjoy a meal, however. On to the main ordering counter: Very modern and nice. HDTV big screen menus and 2 cashiers. A self serve soda fountain, which can be a plus, depending. The workers here seem to be a mix of locals and European students, and for the most part, customer service is on par with the other McDonalds around town. Now, here’s my own experiences! The first visit was a walk-in, but for take out, since their drive thru was still closed. Ordered chicken nuggets and specified my sauces, which were then printed on my receipt. Although self serve, I didn’t receive my drink cup until my food order was fulfilled. Good thing I checked, as I got everything except the sauces for my nuggets. Easily resolved, but had to wait a couple of minutes to get the employee’s attention. Second visit, drive-thru. Ordered my food, along with 3 small fries. The order showed up correctly on the screen and my receipt. But after checking my bags of food, noticed the fries were missing. This was after the European worker thanked me, as if my order was complete, then walked away from the window. Waited a couple minutes for him to return, and after showing him my receipt, he seemed confused. Luckily, another European worker came by, reviewed my receipt, then ran to grab the remainder of my order, Third visit, the employees almost got it right, but instead of hot coffee, I was given an empty cup to get soda. After pointing out to the local employee that i ordered coffee, she looked at the receipt, saw the word«coffee» and appeared confused. she then got me a cup of coffee like i ordered. Another thing that amazed me was to see a group of young kids run in, with their Mother, and begin filling their hydro flasks with soda, even before the mother ordered! Incompetent parents can’t be avoided and is no fault of McDonalds, but something should have been said to the parent by an employee, especially since there was now a line of paying patrons waiting to get their drinks because this idiot parent felt there was nothing wrong with her 4 kids doing this! What an ignorant parent! No class! Fourth visit, early morning drive thru. 3 minutes total — from placing my order, paying and receiving the correct items and driving off! AWESOME! Fifth visit — drive thru again. Ordered 2 small fries along with my food and was asked if it was alright that there was a large fries in my bag instead?! I don’t mind, as long as the amount is the same. But still wondering why this was done??? So far, I’m at about 35 percent satisfaction. 5 visits with only one, nearly 2, orders being fulfilled correctly. Hopefully it’s only the new employee kinks. But, a hint to all the Unilocalers visiting here — DOUBLECHECKYOURORDERS!!! Especially before you leave. The drive thru opens at 5 am and closes at 11 pm, according to one employee. Mickey Dees, I’m still loving it, but waiting for the kinks to be ironed out soon!
