The Maalaea General Store is actually my favorite place to go to and I am always greeted with an aloha smile! Their food is amazing and I’d recommend everything on the menu! The owner is super friendly and the ladies at the counter are always so nice and ready to help. If I could give the place 10 stars, I would! You definitely need to try this place, but try coming before the lunch rush!

Fair prices and great view, Ma’alaea Harbor was a great place for lunch/brunch. I went right after my 9am whale watch and was surprised with the selection of food. I got to try the Kalua Pork tacos. DELISH! The mayo dressing and salsa made the taco so enjoyable! And would definitely go out of my way to get these again. Also tried the Kalua pork nachos. Chips were fresh and crispy and comes with jalapeño, sour cream, salsa. Sadly, no guac :/I got a bite of the loco moco. Not a fan, bland and wasn’t special. The staff was very kind and brought our food to our table. Tables have swing chairs! Super cute! This place is also a general store-chips, alcohol and drinks for sale. No alcohol consumption with lunch tho.

Drive by here all the time and although it’s in a convenient location, the prices are crazy high and the food is mediocre… If there were 2 ½ stars, I’d give it that…

When it first opened it was a must for foodies, but after a couple of years the menu started to go downhill in my opinion. I used to love the place because everything was remarkably good but lately nothing seems to be especially noteworthy, which is not to say it’s bad, just not worth going out of my way anymore.

We went here for brunch, the line was long, moved pretty quickly considering. We get up to the counter and no greetings from the cashier, she just stared at us, i wasn’t sure if she was ready to take our order or not, a simple«can i take your order» would’ve helped. I asked about the breakfast special(they had it blasted on IG, but it’s was no where to be found on the menu), she had zero clue what I was talking about. Ended up ordering the kalua pig nachos. It was tasty, except they make the chips out of corn tortillas and they did not do a good job separating the tortillas, ended up with disgusting stacks of oily, soggy, inedible tortillas. The BF ordered a cheeseburger, you would think the cashier would ask or tell us that it doesn’t come with fries… Nope, nothing. Service was pretty terrible, wait for food was long, and today, the good didn’t make up for either, hate when that happens. Brown butter donut from donut dynamite was pretty awesome tho, super expensive at $ 5 a pop, but worth it when it’s the only goods thing about your meal.

This place rocks. I ate there twice on my trip to Maui. Great selection of items in the store and on the menu. Their Kalua pork is off the hook… SOOOOOGOOD! Also they have swing seats at their picnic tables. Amazing and fun! Don’t miss out on the Ma’alaea General Store.

Foodies rejoice! You must drop in here and try the ‘So No Pono’ breakfast sandwich. What a delight! I look forward to trying more items off the menu. The baked good look delicious. The So No Pono… Two fried eggs served in between a maple bacon donut with Applewood Smoked Bacon & Vermont cheddar cheese. Yeah that happened. Limited availability. Pick your donut flavor. You can thank me for sending you here…

Counter service with outdoor tables. Decent enough place to grab breakfast or lunch right before or after a whale watch out of Ma’alena Bay. Enjoyed the Mahi Mahi fish«burger» on a gluten-free bun($ 13 + 1 for gf bun). Fish was fresh & tender. Sweet potato fries($ 5) were overcooked. Fish & chips($ 13) were decent but we’ve had better on the island. Tourist prices.

They got swinging chairs outside… that was awesome. The food is worth every penny because the portion is big. The workers are so friendly and they try to talk story with everybody making you feel more than a customer. They even come look for you to deliver your food… this is not your average general store hahaha

Brought the family after the aquarium. The fish tacos were just not good. The creamy sauce on top was horrible. All 3 adults in my party disliked the creamy sauce. Their shaved ice machine was down, and they were out of pork. It took 20 – 25 minutes to get our takeout order. This place was clearly having a bad day. I will not be heading back again, as there are other places on the island like Eskimo Candy with much better fish tacos.

We are staying near this ocean center mall and wanted a nice casual lunch after visiting the aquarium. Read up on the review for the general store and café. Ordered two hotdogs for the kids, turkey sandwich and shrimp po boy. It was a long wait for something so straightforward. I guess their POS went down. I had to ask them for the status of the order after they gave me a number to put at my table. Finally, the food was ready about 20 mins later. Food was okay, nothing to write home about. Maybe this was a fluke, but the next day after the aquarium we just went home and made our own lunch.

I have to say at first I was not a fan. But by the time I left the owner had turned my opinion around. We stopped in for some baked goodies from Donut Dynamite. When we walked in there was no one there, finally an employee came out. I asked him about the goodies in the case as the party I was with had food allergies. The employee did not have any clue as to what was in the case. If you are selling something, you should know what you are selling. Other customers came in and he turned his attention to them, which we felt was bad customer service. Once he was done helping them, he turned his attention back to us as we were still waiting for answers. Just as we were ready to cash out, the owner walked in and clarified, and also gave us a donut free. She knew what customer service was all about.

This place is a great spot to stop in and buy all your picnic lunch food and hiking snacks before adventuring out along the island. They have a wide array of pastries, sandwiches, snacks and drinks to satisfy your hunger and quench your thirst. I was unfortunate to have missed their rainbow cupcakes by a day or two but will definitely have to try them someday as they looked amazing. I also love their tables outside which are accompanied by swings rather than chairs!

Located at the Ma’alaea Harbor! Mornings here are so spectacular! The sun was just over Haleakala, dropping rays down on the boats in the harbor. It was so pretty! Super fun experience at this place-I’ve wanted to come in for quite awhile. I had a business breakfast here and it was awesome. I got the acai bowl(because, YUM!)… I went and sat outside and enjoyed the view – stunning! The nice lady brought our food out to us and everything looked great! My acai bowl was delish. I wished that there were a few more banana slices in it, but it was still really good. My friend ordered a breakfast sandwich and a coffee and said her items were awesome. There are fun items to purchase for yourself or as gifts. Hats, shirts and other fun Maui/beachy items inside. There are also to-go items such as chips, soda and treats. I saw a wall of pharmacy-like items as well: Tylenol, nausea medicine and other stuff that one my need while out on a boat! Super fun place. Highly recommended for a great start to your day!

Really good sandwiches! The tuna melt is by far my favorite. Great place to come after going to the beach. Variety of drinks to choose from as well. Cute seating area outside with swinging benches.

Ma’alaea General Store & Café was a great place to stop by for a quick meal after visiting the aquarium or even just a quick snack or drink. There’s plenty of seating and I love the swing-set tables out front. Shrimp Po-Boy: Delicious! Crispy battered shrimp with a sweet and tangy coleslaw, smothered in french fries. The sandwich was well balanced in flavors, sweet, creamy and tangy and well as with the freshness of the coleslaw and the fried shrimp for a delightful mouth-feel. Great lunch time sandwich, I would definitely have this again. Pull-Pork Nachos: The pork was very salty, I don’t recommend.

This place used to be really good and very busy. Now I can see why it’s half empty today. :(First of all cashier didn’t bother to tell my mom that sweet potato fries added in to her sandwich was an extra $ 5. Secondly, our food took forever to arrive. Lastly I got the wrong order. Prices have also increased. For a taco platter and Reuben sandwich with the over priced $ 5 fries on side of sandwich= $ 30. Yes $ 30 we didn’t even order drinks. Thanks to the haole male worker who apologized for the mistake that their«new» female manager made.

Came in here waiting for a dinner cruise and we got a few things to tide us over since we were so early. Maybe I had been used to the expensive prices of the other stores in Maui but prices here seemed very reasonable. The swing benches outside in the front are fun too!

Such a cute general store near the aquarium stocked with all sorts of drinks, snacks and brick-a-brack. I thought the swinging benches outside were a fun, whimsical touch. Both my sister and boyfriend enjoyed their meals(chicken katsu bento & a veggie burger, respectively). Despite being the only ones there when we ordered, we had to wait an unusually long amount of time as some locals came in on their lunch break and were served ahead of us… not a big deal, just a word of caution to anyone in a rush. Unfortunately I ordered the California turkey and couldn’t finish it… I’m not a picky eater but this really didn’t taste good. When ordering I opted for a bread roll versus multigrain bread. I’m not sure if they ran out of the bread I ordered or if they just made it wrong, because when I opened my to-go container it was on multigrain. No big, except the bread tasted stale and was toasted on top of that! There was also hardly any avocado, making this the worst $ 11 I have ever spent on a sandwich. Subway would have been better, or anything else on the menu – my boyfriend’s veggie burger looked so much better than my food! I would go back here again, but would be a lot more cautious in ordering.
