Coming in from the West Coast and starved for Tex-Mex, we landed here at Trujillo’s. How lucky for us! For ex-pat Texans, this place was a great welcome home! Cheese enchiladas, the real test of a Mexican restaurant, were all that we had dreamed of and more. Everything we ordered was delicious. The Big Red ‘Rita was most satisfying on hot central Texas day. Service was excellent. We will be back!

I love love love this place! Their big red Rita’s are amazing and they have the best salsa in town! The food is always good and the service is great. One of our family favorites

Maybe it was just a bad night. Food was average but the service sucked. Waitress forgot our tortillas and hardly ever came to check on us. We had to chase her down for the check and then found out she gave our check to another table. The cleanliness of the place leaves a little to be desired.

I stopped into Trujillos for lunch, and I was satisfied with my meal experience. The ambiance is typical of a roadside cantina, and they were quite busy so it is unfortunate we got sat at a dirty table. We were greeted with chips and salsa quickly, which were very good. The service overall was average, although the staff were extremely busy. The food was good, but not great. I had the beef tacos– the meat was flavorful but tough. The beans were good, and the guacamole had over and under ripened avocados. The prices were a tad high for the food, but I would still come back again, expecially since there are few restaurant choices in the area.

Decent food, pricey for the quality though. Servers are nice although they can not split a dish between 2 checks to save their lives. Also if there is an issue where you ask to speak with the owner, she is very rude and arrogant and will not do anything to help. When we had a problem with our order instead of coming over to talk to us she yelled at us from across the restraint where she was sitting and watching tv. Won’t eat there again!

This was just what I was looking for. I was bringing my son home from College Station and we were hungry in Waco. I saw the Health Camp but we wanted something greasy and this place was right around the circle. Note to readers: Yes, I know what Health Camp is. I wanted a locally owned, small, cold ac, down right Mexican food place and I found it here. First judgement of any tex-mex or mex-mex is the chips and salsa. These were good. My son got the steak which was thin but as large as the plate, well seasoned and tasty. It came with a soft enchilada like taco on the side. I had chicken enchiladas and his soft taco. All were good. I’ve never had GREAT tex-mex. It’s all tortillas, chicken, beef, cheese, beans and sauces combined in a hundred different ways. For me it really comes down to HOW things are combined and are the sauces good, fresh tasting and bring something to the table. Trujillos does those things well enough for me. I would stop again while in Waco and needing a mex-fix.

I’m a Mexican food fanatic and this place reminded me of the little restaurant back in my small South Texas hometown. Best described as comfort food, the enchiladas(the litmus test of a mexican food establishment) were basic, hearty, and yummy. Beans were, again, basic but flavorful. A pleasant surprise was(get this) the rice, with its just-right comino flavor. The only down side was the tea as it falls victim to Waco’s dirt-tasting water. Of course, you can avoid that by ordering a beer or a magrarita! All around a great meal with friendly service.

I really like the family-owned and run atmosphere of this restaurant, and the large flat-screen tv’s don’t hurt either. The salsa is excellent, and I’m an enormous fan of the enchiladas verdes.

Haven’t been to this Tex-Mex favorite since my college years but couldn’t resist a visit this past weekend when I was in town for my friends’ wedding. same fiery salsa and tangy lime margaritas! it’s family owned and operated and everyone is very friendly and sincerely happy that you stopped by. I had the chicken chimichanga — you can’t get that here in northern California. and the frijoles ala charra are stewed in beer. I used to always get the quesadillas — so yummy! next time I’m in that neck of the woods, I’ll be by for more.
