The clam chowder is superb. I just wish that the fried clams were fresh. It just seems a bit stale sometimes. They do offer some great deals/coupons etc.

I’ve had the broiled seafood deluxe dinner and the coconut shrimp. Both meals where very tasty, quick, convenient, and worth the money. I’ll be back again and again. Cool staff too!

Below my expectations. Service was mediocre and not overly friendly. We ordered two appetizers, crab balls and steamed shrimp. Both were very good. For our entrees, we ordered steamed king crab legs and fried flounder. Only 3 crab legs came with the meal, which seemed light in comparison to other seafood places. However, they were very good. The flounder was a big disappointment. Tasted like frozen fish, heavily deep fried. We probably will not be back.

Sorry guys… this place is meh(a term i rarely use, but fitting) I don’t need to be rude by any means. I’m sure their seafood options are rather tasty, however not on point. This place is good for an every once in while I’ll see if they’ve gotten any better type of place. I walk in and it immediately reminds me of the Steak House i think ‘The American Steak House”(which i do frequent when in my hometown BECAUSE I KNOWWHAT I AMGETTING). Prices are fair. And it seems the staff genuinely care about their food and their restaurant from the service i received. I got the appetizer coconut shrimp… i found it to be extremely oily, flat, and boring, however it came with this piña colada dipping sauce that i think is a nice compliment to the shrimp. Sad to say the excess oil made my stomach hurt. So it will be a while before I’m back here again… but hey i tried and will give it another go sometime in the distant future. *please excuse any errors, i don’t always have the time(or memory) to write reviews at home.

Went there with a party of five on a Friday night. It was rather busy and there were about twenty people ahead of us at the time. My family and I waited over an HOUR for a table … everybody ahead of us was seated. We went to the hostess several times during the hour asking what was going on and she said it will be fifteen more minutes. Other parties, maybe about five WHOCAMEINAFTERUS, were then seated ahead of us. We go back to the hostess, now after about an hour and twenty minutes from our arrival before she finally tells us that they needed to combine two tables to accommodate us, AFTERONEHOURANDTWENTYMINUTES. Why didn’t they just hold off seating a two and three top during this entire time! We were infuriated because she never told us this from the beginning ANDWEWAITED. Is it really that hard to combine two tables? QUITEDISRESPECTFUL. However we walked down to Pasta Pomodoro, said we had a party of five and the owner immediately goes over and pushes two tables together. EASYRIGHT? NEVERGOTOTHISPLACE!

I can’t believe there’s any negative reviews here! I’m really floored. I’ve been going here for years and years and not once have I not enjoyed my food or service. I can’t think of anywhere else I can say the same about. Now, this is a divey place. It’s no frills, just someplace warm to sit and eat and chat. And it’s exactly how it looked when I was a kid. Hey, that’s fine with me. I’m someone that could care less how a place looks if the food is good(so long as its clean, which cats is). Why oh why would I ever go to red lobster, or Joe’s, etc and get overcharged for lower quality seafood? Here, I get awesome lump crab cakes, crab legs, the BEST bisque, and either yummy fries or a fluffy baked potato. Also, the waitresses are so sweet. They treat you like family and they’ll remember loyal customers. Maybe I’m loyal since I’ve always gone here, but I hope any seafood lover tries this place. They really are good!

Tacky is the right word for this place. Bland hot shrimp appetizer. Bland broiled scallops. Bland broiled stuffed flounder. Best part of our meal were the seasoned fries. Never again.

Don’t expect much here. I ordered a cup of clam chowder that was luke warm. My GF ordered the broiled combo which was Ok, but not much to it as far as value goes. Also ordered the garlic little neck clams which was decent. The couple next to us had their baked potato replaced with one ‘that was cooked’. Service was good, but the little things with the meal needs to improve. Bring HOT soup, de-vein the shrimp, etc… The only reason we went was the Groupon deal.

Been goin there for 15 years, always been pretty good. Get take out and dine in. Went tonight and boy the service was horrrible! One table got up and left they weren’t satisfied with the food. The guy had a problem to asking for the mgr. waitress said there was no mgr. on duty they had left. My problem was, it took 15 minutes to get my order taken. She brought the food, never checked back I got up to get a refill. She came and asked how it was I said food was ok, but service was horrible. When she brought check she said.” I been here since 10 am and I’m pregnant I didn’t know you were my table” … It was 7 pm, and sorry but that’s not my problem. Still left a 15% tip only cause I felt sorry for the baby! Next time I want seafood I’ll go to Philly.

The food is as tacky as the atmosphere. When my wife and I arrived, we were unsure if it really was a restaurant, as there is a take-out/frozen seafood display in front. The place was not clean, needing a good sweeping. We figured we would give it a try, and maybe it would be a diamond in the rough. While I don’t mind a little Old Bay seasoning, my crab legs were«breaded» in the stuff. I scraped off the seasoning and reasonably enjoyed the crab legs. My wife’s fried shrimp were obviously frozen and tasteless, and the baked potato was over cooked and tasteless. While we were finishing up our meal, we overheard the waitress tell a couple, who had just come in at 9:30 pm, that the kitchen was closing down. They don’t(officially) close until 10:00 pm. Once we received our check(which took a bit of time to receive), I had to chase down someone to pay for our bill. This will be my first and LAST time to visit this hole in the wall. My recommendation — if you want seafood… go to Red Lobster!

Just seems like a dive, i’ve never eaten here because everytime I walk in it seems like no one can be bothered to help so I haven’t been back.

Great seafood! I’ve been coming here for years just for the swordfish. But I was extremely disappointed upon coming here the last time, I was told they no longer have swordfish. So I ordered the Mahi Mahi cooked the same way the swordfish is, and it was delicious. As people have said, the dining area isn’t «pretty», it just has nautical things hanging up all over, but who cares? It’s not a fancy place. The food is good. That is what counts right? BYOB.

I’m always glad when I go back to a restaurant and they have listened to the public and improved. This place definitely has. I ordered crab legs that were top notch. All my seafood was fresh and hot. My sons soft shelled crabs were great, and the quantity filled his 15 year old pit of a stomach. For three of us eating multiple courses the bill came to just over $ 100, and that was a LOT of food people! swing by soon!

I’ve eaten here numerous times but infrequently, mainly because you have to be in the mood to just eat seafood and not much else. The second reason I do not frequent this restaurant is the lack of anything green to eat… no veggies! The only side dishes are coleslaw, french fires, etc. But if you like seafood, this is a good place to enjoy it for a laid-back experience.

Just finished dinner at Cap’n Cats and it was amazing! Our waitress, Dina, was excellent and made great recommendations. Everyone was really friendly and the food especially tasty. We had the crab combo platter and they gave us a side of garlic butter that was delicious(make sure to ask for it — it’s made fresh every day). We also had the stuffed flounder which was very fresh and like an imperial/flounder combo. Onion rings were also great and crunchy. We can’t wait to go back!

Gave this place a try because I had a coupon and DF and I love seafood. Boy did we regret it! Now I know good seafood, and this was one of the worst seafood experiences we’ve had. I ordered the«2 lb whole dungeness crab» and not the crab clusters because crab tastes best cooked whole and fresh and with the yummy head stuff. What did I get? I got a great looking whole crab on a plate, but when I go to pick it up, the whole thing falls apart in 3 pieces with nothing in the head shell and just dry shriveled up meat in the body. WTF! What part of «2lb whole crab» did that equate to? I’m lucky if I got 1lb even w/the shell on my plate! DF had the broiled seafood platter, which was pretty sad too. A few tiny shrimp, scallops and blah fish. We mentioned our disappointment to the young waitress and all she could say was that it was a cleaned whole crab. You kidding me, it was 2 shriveled crab clusters on a plate with the head shell plopped on top for decoration to make it look«whole»! We both ate everything, which wasn’t much food, so we both left pretty hungry and then went to Friendly’s. The atmosphere is very casual and family friendly. Doesn’t look like a place that serves quality fresh seafood. Even with the coupon giving us like half off, it was totally not worth it. Will never be coming back!

I came here for a friends birthday. First off there are NO vegetarian options at all, and two of my friends had to go out and bring back food because of this, which they did graciously let them do. That was one of the only good hings about this place. When I walked in I was assaulted by the strong smell of fish, a smell that even at a fish store, you should not smell, especially if it is supposedly fresh. I ordered a soup, the lobster bisque, it was bland and flavorless. Being a bit nervous about the freshness of the fish, I ordered the clam strips. I have to admit the onion rings that came with it tasted good, but there was a bad clam in my clam strips. It tasted like it was rotten, and gross. The food here is terrible. I am sorry, but after having come from eating grade A fish the day before at another restaurant to eating this terrible fish, at a place that only serves fish was very disappointing, I will not return to eat here, and will make it a point to tell all my friends to not come here.

I started coming to Cats when it was in Verga. Over the past 33 years I have eaten somewhere in the range of 2500 to 3000 oyster stews. They have all been excellent, but Tom makes the best I have ever had. The staff are great, the food is the best I have had at any clam bar or stew joint and the owners are the best. I love their seasoned shrimp and unlike many other places, they are large, easy to peel and fresh. I have eaten every item on the menu and the top picks are the Alaskan King Crab, the Broiled combo, and of course the stews. Box stews, oyster stews and clam stews rule here. I also like the fact that you can bring your own booze. It really helps the budget. Oh yes, one more thing. The shrimp salad sandwich is to die for. They peel the shrimp for each order and make it your way… I love it.

One of Three Cap’n Cats, This one in Voorhees has the BEST service. EXCELLENTSERVICE, Fast seating even while packed with patrons, The friendly staff will seat you promptly.
