The deli … and that’s what it is … has a few tables, and a short menu of typical German roadside diner foods. The dinner plates are generous and feature sausages and sandwich meats from the deli counter, nicely prepared, and accompanied by sides like sauerkraut and German potato salad. You will hardly go wrong with a meal here, and the prices are certainly pocketbook friendly. Pity that the owner decided to retire.

I’m so sorry Christa closed the Deli, I will miss her very much, and will have to go all the way up to Calimesa to visit another great German Shopping/Restaurant.

Delicious! This German deli is a little hidden gem. All of their meats are fabulous. The sandwiches are huge & are very reasonably priced. Ordering a small is plenty. We ordered the Reuben & it was very tasty. They also have homemade soups, one flavor each day. I tried the asparagus soup & it was devoured immediately. The service is great & we will definitely be coming back. Always happy to find a new favorite deli!

I am really picky about Pastrami, I like it a certain way. I hate when pastrami is chewy or rubbery. I was really surprised at the texture of the pastrami and the corn beef sandwiches from European Deli. It tasted just like GOOD pastrami should, soft and melt in your mouth good. It’s a home style place, with only a little seating area. I’ve never had a pastrami sandwich with lettuce and tomato, usually they only serve the sandwich with the meat and a little mustard. So I was a little nervous when I initially saw the sandwich, but I was pleasantly surprised at how good it tasted together. I have gone back and had the Corn Beef sandwich(which I like better than the the Pastrami) and the German Potato Salad, which is made without mayonnaise. Very tasty! I will definitely be frequenting this place for lunch.

I love this place! They have German style cold cuts, Brats, Potato Salad, Sauerkraut and even German style Pretzel rolls(Brezensemmeln). They make great Sandwiches for lunch, my favorites are the Reuben and the grilled Blackforest Ham & Cheese Sandwich. Oh, let’s not forget the Pastrami… yummmm. There is a good selection of German Beers, and other life essentials. I heard the Christmas goodies just arrived.

Really German, Everything is mostly German so lets just clear the whole mumbo jumbo of European out of the way. This place is nice and a good place to grab a little sandwich and sit down and read a paper. Yes it is a tad bit overpriced. However this place is out of your normal, as in it isn’t Mexican. So if your looking for a little something different or to pick up some ingredients for cooking German food this is the spot. All in all i do highly suggest this spot for at least one visit for you to give it a shot.

Great food, nice atmosphere, friendly people. I love going there for their Ruben Sandwich and sauerkraut, it’s some of the best I have ever had. The selection of meats and cheeses is amazing. Things I have never heard of and things I have a hard time finding. Thanks again!

A Good, Solid Sandwich. No complaints about the Grilled Reuben sandwich. The Rye bread was fresh and soft. The meat was tender and flavorful, and the sauerkraut was good and crunchy. For $ 7.50, you get a normal sized sandwich – so it’s definitely on the pricey side. I also ordered a Turkey sandwich with cheese and avocado. I asked for Sourdough bread, and easy onions, along with everything else that usually comes on deli sandwiches(lettuce, tomato, mayo and mustard). They gave me Rye instead of Sourdough, and there were no onions in sight. Still, the sandwich was tasty. Good quality turkey, a fair amount of avocado, and fresh produce. Bigger than the Reuben, and while not quite worth the $ 7.50 price tag, I still enjoyed it. The Ham and Bean soup of the day was hot and hammy and salty and hearty and thick and delicious and amazing. The service was very friendly. Overall, Tip Top trumps the European Deli in every way, from the market to the portions and value, to the selection. But this place is still pretty good. It’s only open Tuesday — Saturday, 11 – 3, and if anything, I’ll be back for that soup!

Delicious meats, cheeses and bread. Very European. It’s a little pricey, but the portions are sufficient(meaning not really large like most places that make you fat, but probably less than what people have become accustomed to).

I just got a pastrami sandwich from here and, let me tell you, it is DELICIOUS. About as good as the pastrami I used to get at Antonelli’s in El Cajon(if you know what I’m talking about and are in Vista, you’re probably making your way over to Euro Deli right now). The meat was tender and juicy. The vegies were… well…fresh enough(I didn’t take TOO much notice of them). The bread was soft and moist. I also got a side of German potato salad which I didn’t enjoy quite as much. It wasn’t because it was bad, it just wasn’t my cup-o-tea. Trust me, I know the difference between bad and it don’t float my boat. Overall, the food itself is 5 stars. You’re looking at 4 stars because, although the food is a 5, the value is a 2. This was one small sandwich, and I got a large. Its size was basically a Subway 6 inch, but instead of it being 6 inches it was 5 inches. And instead of it being as big(around) as a Subway sandwich, it was about 5⁄6 its size. In other words, this $ 6 sandwich was about the size of 5⁄6 of a Subway 6 inch. I don’t consider that«value.» I can’t say it didn’t fill me up, but I don’t eat a lot per sitting. So, it left me a choice of either 3 or 4. I chose 4 because the sandwich really was pretty good. I’ll be coming back. Just not when I’m REAL hungry.

We have been going to the«German» deli for more than 10 years now. The owner, Christina, is a lovely lady who always has a smile for her customers and the best sandwiches n the area. The deli only uses high quality meats and cheeses and if you are a fan of German food, pastries, candies etc… You will be in «Himmel»! Only Tip Top Meats in Carlsbad has a larger selection of traditional German goodies. Be sure to stop in any day except Monday(closed) for a friendly discussion and a great meal. PS The German potato salad is to die for… don’t leave without having some
