The Original Mattress Factory

I just bought a king size mattress to replace the current one which was 7 years old. The experience was great, from the «no pressure yet useful help» of the sales associates to the delivery. We even special ordered our mattress to be 3″ longer than the norm (our bed is weird shaped and much longer, but we didn’t want a California king because that would have decreased the width and we didn’t want that), and it only cost an additional $ 50 to have that addition made! And, it only cost $ 50 for them to come take away our old mattress and deliver our new mattress. The delivery guys were great, and we love the mattress.

Mattress shopping is not on my list of fun things to do by any means but we definitely needed one as sleeping on the rock of a mattress we had. Everything I looked at online said buy a mattress from a company that manufactures their own so we can here.
Rick = super friendly, knowledgeable, and not one bit pushy or overbearing. He gave us a tour of the inside of the factory and listened to our needs/​wants in or mattress hunt. We eliminated some mattresses immediately as we wanted a double sided pillow top that we could flip. After laying on a few beds and narrowing it down to 2 we decided on an orthopedic plush set (just under 1200 with a 12 year warranty). I expressed that I am an edge sleeper and they were able to customize the mattress to include more support on the edges at no extra cost. Sweet! It added a few days to be able to have it ready but was worth it.
We opted for delivery ($ 45) and removal of our old set ($ 5 each piece which is pretty much the cost of the bag they wrap them in). Delivered on time with a call the day before to confirm time.
We are VERY pleased with our mattress and the overall process. I would definitely recommend OMF, especially this location for a non pressure experience.

A few weeks ago, I was in the process of looking for a new mattress. The current one I had was old and was overdue for a replacement. I had been holding off for a while, but the time came that I had to get another one. I’ve been to the other mattress places in the area before, but I’ve always felt pressured there, and the prices are high for what you get.
I have purchased from Original Mattress before, but it was quite a number of years ago now. When I came in, there was someone else in there too, so it was time to look around. I wanted to look around anyways before getting in contact with a salesperson. After looking around a bit and getting some ideas, Rick was now available and was the salesperson that would help in deciding the right mattress for me. He helped me through the entire process. What I really liked is that it wasn’t high pressure. So many times when you go to places like that, you feel the push of the salesperson to buy. I’m glad that was not the case here. After going over all of the various beds, Rick took us into the factory, as this location is where all the beds are made for all of their stores in the Hampton Roads area. It was great to see how something you may be buying is built. After the tour of the factory, I started to narrow down what beds I might consider. I started to try out the beds I was considering. At no point did I feel rushed into making a decision and Rick gave me as much time as I needed.
Before committing to a purchase here, I had thought about going to other places first, but after experiences in the past at other places, and the great experience I’ve had at this store, I decided to just go ahead and get the bed here. I ended up getting an orthopedic queen mattress, box spring and set. I also got the mattress protector since it wasn’t that much. In all, it was around $ 1,000, which is what I would have likely paid that or more at the other mattress places in the area.
After having the bed for a month now, the bed is very comfortable and have had no problems with it. If I ever have any problems, I know where to go since the bed has a 12 year non-​prorated warranty. If you’re in the market for a new bed, look no further than this place.

Totally agree with the previous reviews — a great experience overall. We needed a new mattress (after not having purchased a new one in almost ten years). Queen size mattresses at the other various places were going to run $ 500 to $ 1k for just the mattress (not the box spring) and my DH just wasn’t thrilled with what we’d found. A random Saturday afternoon put us at the Original Mattress Factory on Va Beach Blvd with Rick. Just as J David H said, we got the information we needed, a quickie tour of their factory (it was a weekend, so nothing was being made), and then Rick left us alone to try out the various mattresses (pillow top, firm, etc), mull over the options and make our decision. The box spring and mattress together were a bit more ($ 100-​ish) what we’d expected to spend on the mattress alone. I love that the mattress is double coiled so it can be flipped, and even more so they were made locally. Customer service was top notch — they were super gracious about switching the delivery time (That day was crazy town at work!) and gave us a two hour window which they actually made. If you’re looking for a mattress, be sure to put the Original Mattress Factory on your list of top options!

One of the first items we needed to get when moving to Virginia Beach was a mattress for my daughter’s bed. That was nine years ago and The Original Mattress Factory was recommended to us by friends. We made a purchase of a twin mattress set in 2005 and have been coming back as happy customers every since.
This business is unique in that they make the product right in front of you. Local people from our area get the work, instead of being made overseas. Granted, the work is behind a glass window, but never the less you can actually see them assemble and complete a mattress, or box springs… how cool is that. Yes you can go to a million other stores in the surrounding Tidewater area… really I do think there is a million. However, I do believe they make a quality product for a great price, so I am a big fan. I have now referred friends them that are now satisfied customers as well.
What sets them apart, well customer service is what will keep you coming back. Talk about no pressure, their sales people will lay out all you need to know to make an informed purchase, but will not try to force a sale. Today is a great example of this. I saved a few hundred dollars with them steering me another direction that made better since. They are also very knowledgeable and will be able to answer your questions to make the best decision possible and stay within your budget. There has never been a time when walking into the store that I was not promptly greeted.
How about the product, well I am a big fan obviously. The way mattress’s are now made has one sided coil. It is now an up charge to get a two sided coil (flip mattress) and most manufactures don’t even make them. Original Mattress Factory make two sided coil on all and it’s no additional cost to the customer. The materials I feel are quality too and they will even let you tour the factory if you like and show you.
Finally how about the prices. If you shop around… again a million stores sell mattress’s in our area, but few can boast that they have every day low prices. I don’t think you even will find a sale sign up in the window ever! Everyday is a low price without the haggle of trying to get them down on the cost. That price is already lower than that of their competitors. Like I said, I truly feel a better product than the other stores on every corner of the city.
Give them a try, you will agree that they offer a wonderful experience when purchasing a mattress.

I’m not going to lie, it’s hard to get excited about a matress store but this is the exception. I am a firm believer that you should go all out on a matress; for something that you end up using for a ¹⁄₃ of the day, every single day… why not? Anyways, the Orginal Mattress Factory is the BEST place you’re going to find a mattress in the Hampton Roads. All the mattresses there are built there within the factory and they use the best materials around. If you don’t believe me (and why would you), they offer a tour of the facility and will give you a history of the company. I strongly recommend that you purchase your mattress here instead of a Sleepys or some other hack bed store… you won’t regret it.

Love! Courteous and helpful salesmen. You get individual attention as soon as you step in. Had a great selection of beds and were less expensive than other stores without sales or discounts. All of their beds are double-​sided which I love so I can flip it.
