I came here for the new year because I wanted to try something new. The pictures on Unilocal fooled me, I thought I was entering an Hibachi restaurant, but I wasn’t. I ordered a couple sushi rolls, bbq squid and chicken teriyaki. The sushi was okay, and the BBQ squid was the best thing I ate that evening. The chicken teriyaki was poorly cooked. They served it to me on one of those plates you serve fajitas on and my chicken was way overcooked, chewy, and hard! It was disgusting. We hurried and finished the sushi then left. I will be not returning to this restaurant, the food quality was very poor.

Friend delayed at airport longer than expected and so grabbed a quick dinner. Sat at sushi bar and impressed with how fast I was served. Had miso soup and edamame right away. Just enough salt on edamame and nice and hot. Good flavor. Then I had the rainbow roll which had a lot of tuna which was a pleasant surprise and the spicy tuna. Both very fresh and good quality fish. Inside is clean but not super pretty. Food was Great! Service was on it and refilled my tea three times. Would come back anytime for great food and service!

I went here on Friday at 6:30 and there was no one in the restaurant. The other Unilocal reviews were good so I thought I’d give it a shot. The service was good, and the waitress was friendly. The sushi, though, was average at best. More rice than anything else. Spicy tuna roll is my go to, so I ordered two. It was okay, but definitely had a MUCH better other places. If you are looking for the best sushi ever, probably not the best. But if you’re looking for a quick, average sushi dinner, it’s not a bad spot.

Had the Sunomono salad, the ingredients seemed very fresh. Husband and I stopped by in hopes of finding a sushi restaurant with the same name but that one was in lynnhaven so we got something small. This is the first Salad that didn’t come with dressing which some offer kimchee sauce or another type of sauce. Husband had vegetable tempura and he said it was good. Server was attentive but we were the only people there.

I am not really crazy about sushi, but I tried the deep fried volcano crab and to tell you the truth it wasnt bad. I do believe that it was imatation crab though. It really didnt taste fresh. The overall experience was great. Recommend on anyone trying it.

Stopped in for dinner last night. Service was prompt and attentive — but there was only one other table at the time so I’d expect that. My friend asked for a special roll and they easily accommodated it and made it for him as he requested. I ordered a Rainbow Roll and Spicy California. The Spicy California wasn’t very good — I think I’m starting to dislike those more and more. The Rainbow roll was good and fresh. I also ordered a seaweed salad and it was a huge portion — yum. The inside isn’t overly nice but it was clean enough. Not the nicest sushi place I’ve been to but it’ll do the trick in a pinch.

Really good sushi in my opinion, especially the Mars roll! Yummy. My buddy and I split 5 rolls and about 10 pieces each and didn’t have a piece that was bad. Service was good but the place was empty. That’s been typical of places here… I’m okay with that. I wish there were half stars. If give them 4.5

I Travel to the Norfolk Airport often. This is the best Sushi in town. The restaurant is located near Starbucks & the WinGate Hotel. It has a nice quiet respectful atmosphere. The waiting staff is very polite, attentive and friendly. They take pride in their job and the work they do preparing your food. It is always fresh and taste that way too. If your in town, love good sushi with good pricing, I think you found it here in Norfolk VA

First time here. It was great. Wasn’t busy, nice server. The kani salad is a bit too wet — too much mayo. Some crunchies or less mayo would’ve been great. We had several rolls — wish I could remember the names of all of them but they were all fantastic. The jalapeño roll — my daughter said it was too crunchy — she was hoping the jalapeños would be soft. I don’t eat them, so didn’t matter to me either way. :-) We will be back.

So I stopped in here after an open house I attended and walked through the door and was greeted immediately. I choose my seat, looked at my menu and ordered my lunch. It took less than 5 minutes for them to bring out my food, and it was piping hot to… and D-LISH-SHUS(delicious). I ordered the #3 Tuna Teriyaki w/white rice, Miso soup and Ginger salad. Everything was great, and then meal was only about $ 17.00. Definitely one of my new favorite spots. *and on a side note, it was so quiet, I got a lot of writing/brainstorming done.

Surprisingly good food and great service! We had salmon & steak teriyaki and it was fantastic. I really wanted to try the sushi, but we were in a bit of a rush. One of our better business roulette meals, for sure!

I agree with Marv V & Scooby D’s review. My car was getting inspected next door so, I decided grab some lunch. I went with the BBQ squid & Dragon Lunchbox roll. The portions were fine & food was ok. The miso soup was good. I too remember when this spot first opened, it was delicious!!! Not sure what’s happened in the past couple of years. Nothing really shined… Well, other than the uninterested college girl(Marv V mentions) who seemed to just stare and give the stank face. Service is everything… even if the food is average.

This place was near our hotel and had good reviews so we decided to check it out. My boyfriend and I both ordered the sushi deluxe. The reviews are true! This was the freshest, most delicious sushi I’ve ever had! No need to have the Americanized sushi covered in mayo, the fish is more flavorful than most American style rolls in its own. The atmosphere is very comfortable and the servers are friendly as well. I’ll definitely be coming back with friends.

When this place first opened, it was clean, the food was decent, the service was good, and the prices were reasonable. It is close to where my wife works, so it is conveniently located. The best estimate I can give now is that the décor is tired and old. The bathroom is in disrepair and is always dirty. The food is average and I really have nothing remarkable to say about it. The service the last few times I have been here has been what appears to be an uninterested college girl with no passion about being a hostess. Location is important. I like to get coffee right after sushi, and there is a Starbucks right next to it. That is yet another draw for me to this place. Bottom line is that this is a good place to visit for a quick sushi lunch, but I am beginning to cross it off my list for dinner unless I am desperate for sushi.

Yeah. Can’t say I’m a fan. Nothing I had was good. There was nothing spicy about my Spicy California OR Spicy shrimp roll. Those are simple rolls too. The miso was bland at best. Yeck. Won’t be back.

Hands down best sushi I have had in a very long time. The presentation was amazing and the service was great! I would recommend this place to anyone.

In my mind there are 3 types of sushi restaurants 1) the scary, sorta dirty place where the rice is hard and the fish is rubbery, 2) the flashy kind where the rolls have names like«Super Kung Fu Panda Roll» and everything has tons of spicy mayo and decorative drizzles of sauces in the shape of hearts, and 3) the kind of place where the fish on its own is so fresh, buttery soft, and flavorful that you don’t even need soy sauce for dipping. Sakura is a prime example of the 3rd category. You will not find a crazy Kung Fu Panda roll here, but you will find some amazing classics, such as a king crab roll, yellowtail roll, spicy tuna roll, salmon roll, and rainbow roll. All of the ingredients are fresh and tasty: The rice is so soft and holds its shape while you’re picking the sushi up. The fish is DELICIOUS. The accompaniments inside the roll, like avocado and asparagus, are so green and fresh. Yes, the rolls are plain, but I wouldn’t change one thing about them because excellent fish speaks for itself. Service was fast and polite. The place was a little on the quiet side… needed some music :-). The décor isn’t over whelming just simple. And the choice to eat here is simple too!

Good location next to the Starbucks, right on the way to OBX. Had a smattering of sushi and soups. All were a good choice for lunch.

So, as you can see I already started eating. Cali roll, shrimp tempura, Christmas tree, chefs special, and spicy girl. Wife doesn’t like the saracha so we ask for it that way. No other place in VB has come close to this. And you can’t beat the price for what you get.

I visited this restaurant earlier today. The food was great. I did not take pictures because my phone’s battery was dying. My friend took a couple of shots though. I ordered Yakisoba with vegetables and volcano rolls. I paid around $ 18. My meal was well worth its price. The rolls were yummy, and the noodles were delicious! My friend ordered chicken teriyaki and fried rice with soup and a salad. I don’t think he had ever been to a Japanese restaurant before. Overall he was satisfied with his meal though. He wasn’t too fond of the soup(miso) but he enjoyed the salad, chicken teriyaki and rice. He said it was delicious. The restaurant itself is very cozy. My friend kept saying how it felt very welcoming and«homey.» Haha. I thought so too. Other than the two of us, there were only about a handful of customers there(most of whom ordered take-out). The waitress was very sweet. I wasn’t able to finish the sushi rolls so I asked for a to-go box. She actually boxed them for me, which I appreciated. I accidentally left them in the restaurant and she came out after me. I will definitely be returning!
