This is a great restaurant/bar. The food is great, the music is good, the bands are wonderful and the atmosphere is very friendly. They have pool tables and I love to play pool. This is a great place!

Pappas pub is a dive bar for sure, with good food, decent specials and terrific Southern rock music. The only downside for me is the smokey atmosphere. Now that the outside seating is open, I can visit more often. The staff was very friendly and the food came out fast and still hot. Burgers were good and I had the steak with breaded okra, which is also yummy.

I love poppas. We love coming here any day of the week. Food is awesome, music awesome, people are friendly, but the ONE complaint I’ve ever had about poppas, is the one single waitress is absolutely HORRIBLE! I’m not sure of her name but on Thursday this last week she was working the bar and she was absolutely RUDE to us and many other customers. We came in for karaōke after eating out on the patio,(mind you, this is the THIRD time this week we’ve come in to eat and hang out, each time we’ve dropped about $ 200 on the bar) and there were no tables on the floor due to the pool players using all the tables to hold their items, so we sat at the bar until a table opened up. The waitress at the bar asked what we wanted to drink in a very rude tone, and at the time we just wanted a few waters, she then says«y’all are taking up all my f****** bar stools for water!!!» Stomped off and slammed our waters down. We tried to explain to her that we wanted to do karaōke and there were no tables but once one came open we would leave the bar, and she said«well I’m trying to make money here!» She’s always rude like this, never has a happy attitude unless you’re one of her«favorites» which she doesn’t have many. Anytime we’ve been served by her we’ve hated it and felt uncomfortable, she’s just plain rude! THEN when we got a table she kept glaring at us, which we ignored and went on to do karaōke. Now, the lady running the karaōke machine was announcing she needed«singers because no one has put any song slips in» so we promptly picked a few songs and submitted them to her, about 30 – 40 min later we still hadn’t been called up but she and about 3 – 4 other people who seemed to be her friends had gone up and sang about 4 times each, and instead of putting their song choices on paper and submitting it like we did, they were YELLING it to the karaōke lady. we got tired of it and left. Once again we love poppas, Tammy(when she worked there) was awesome! Knew us by name, knew our drinks, and what we ate. And the other girls are awesome too, I just think that if they want more and better business, they need to work on the staff, especially the lady that works the bar which is the MAIN attraction there, and they need to assure that whoever is running karaōke is giving everyone a fair chance to participate. Other than that, it’s an awesome place! Great atmosphere, great food, great people. LOVEIT!!!

So I loved this place when I went there with my brother. We were definitely out of place since we were in our mid-20s and wearing polos and khakis. But that is what made it so awesome! The people took us in and we danced to this great live band with some older ladies(not really cougars but just nice older ladies). My brother and I were smoking at the time and they let you do it inside, which really made it even better. Overall, my experience there was good. Unfortunately, having quit smoking, I would never go in here again. Also, though it was great to get out of our element, being older than everyone by a decade or more wouldn’t encourage me to make this a regular stomping ground. If you’re the type of guy who wants to go some place divey, just cut loose, smoke cigarettes, and end the night by proposing to some lady who could’ve been your mother(if your mother was 10 years older with some pretty sweet tattoos), then come here!

Wouldn’t ever come back here. Food took 1 hour and all of our orders were wrong. Frozen seafood, mushy buns on the burgers. Staff is friendly but that’s about all. Also loved the fact I was sitting at a booth and dead bugs were on the window seal 2 inches from me.

I like Poppa’s Pub. I don’t head out there often but when in the Diamond Springs area I’ll stop in. It’s a low-brow drinking pub — smoking at the bar, dark, smelly, and absolutely charming. The barmaids are friendly and cut it up with the locals around the bar. The wings are pretty good, most of the menu is down home style e.g., meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans type stuff. It is what it is: just a low-brow slice of Americana held-over from back in the day. It’s like a low-rent Greenies.

What a dump! I really knew that prior to going in. We only had beers, so I really can’t speak on the drink making skills or the food since we didn’t order, but the place was very sketchy. I’ll just say some shifty looking people were about. I try not to judge, but when you feel uncomfortable, you feel uncomfortable. The minute we walked in about nearly everyone in the bar stared at us and watched us sit down. I get that it’s a locals’ place, but they were not too friendly. Service was not that prompt either. I know that it’s been around probably longer than I’ve been alive and that obviously says something about the people that go there, but if you’re looking for a nice place to get some drinks — go elsewhere.

Beware of the employee named Marland. I watched him punch a woman in the face at a nearby bar on the evening of 11÷26÷11. He was with a drag queen dressed like Tina Turner. Maybe he thought for a minute he was Ike Turner. He probably spits in the food… Watch out.

OK This is a sure Dive and has been for years! I stopped by here during an extended, layover while passing through town. The bar is dingy, dirty and smoke filled. It has only two redeeming qualities. Menu and Drink selection are value priced(inexpensive) and a fun, engaging and lovely young lady at the outside bar named Ashley. There is a slew of regulars here and Ashley knew them all and what they wanted. Their booze selection is cheap no name brands but better quality is available. Mixers are poured from a fountain into a repeatedly used two-liter bottle. Owner needs to invest in a good cleaning of the entire place, a mixer distribution system or some reusable containers rather than the cheap and tacky appearance of the reused sprite bottle for whatever might actually be in it. Selection of Beers is run of the mil big name stuff only. with Sam Adams, Killian’s and Guinness thrown in for those who prefer quality and taste. This is a place I would stop in for a quick inexpensive beer when Ashley is working, but not a place I would hang out at. Sláinte!

We used to hang here pretty regularly in the mid 90’s when the original owners(The Poppa in Poppa) son Bruce ran the place. Even though it was a dive, it was a decent neighborhood hangout. Hard times fell upon him is my understanding of the situation and while he still owns the land, he sold the pub, and it’s been resold several times since. The regulars who used to populate the place are long gone, though a couple of the original staff remains. Some upgrades have been done here and the current motif is a pseudo biker bar, but basically the place is a complete dump these days. Low Rent would be the key choice of words. This is definitely a pass unless you want to go slumming.

It’s just a typical redneck bar. There’s not really much else I can say about it. If you like loud bars with loud people, then you’ll like Poppa’s Pub. If you prefer a more refined or quiet atmosphere, you won’t. Also, when I went there, every third person seemed to be an amputee of some kind. This was over a year ago, but I was a little too freaked out to go back. What exactly did I wander into…
