The good. The bad. And the very ugly. My best friend and I stayed here 4 nights for the Virginia Beach Half Marathon. After we arrived we immediately wished we didn’t. I’ll start with the good: LOCATION! We were smack in the middle of everything we wanted to do. Minus the whole being across the street from the beach instead of right on the beach part. The staff were amazingly sweet and genuine. They even opened the continental breakfast early for us for race day(as in, I asked if they were already going to, they said no. But then they asked us what time we needed it to be ready and on race day they were preparing it for us. We brought our own bagels and peanut butter, but used their toaster, drank their juice and ate their bananas!). They always had clean towels when we asked, and were always friendly. Also, the TV, remote, AC, and most of the outlets worked. The bad, and the ugly all rolled into one: the hotel looks like it’s from 1970 and hasn’t been updated since. Very bad curb appeal, the elevator is quite terrifying. Scrapes when it opens and closes and it’s very jumpy. The room was disgusting. The carpet was stained, which is understandable, but around the walls, the carpet baseboard was falling down. There was trash under the bed and behind the dresser and endtable. The sheets were stained and/or had makeup on them(I hope it was makeup anyway), the comforters were beyond gross and had multiple cigarette holes in them(so bad that we went to Walmart and purchased our own cheap comforters to sleep on/with for our stay), and the bathroom had mold spots, a roach, and zero water pressure. I kinda think we should have just washed our hair at the beach shower rinse off station. Our power went out for a little over two hours on Saturday. I’m usually not this negative, and can find the positive in anything, but I’m hoping all these reviews will make their way to the owner, that way some renovations can happen in the near future. They close for off season, not sure why they can’t improve the place then. Especially when they charge like their the Hilton.(Aka: a little more than $ 145 a night for this crap.).

Don’t waste your money!!! Location is the ONLY thing that is good about this hotel! First room… AC didn’t hardly work, we had to get 2 fans in order to cool the room. The next day there was water at the entrance to our room that splashed up when you walked on it which was right beside the bathroom where you would use a blow dryer. The remote to the TV didn’t work not did the phone. We requested another room, this one was cooler but the ceiling is severely water damaged to the point where pieces were falling down in front of us. The cable was disconnected from the TV, the remote didn’t work nor did the phone in this room either. The elevator was scary and bounced, hot and stinks. When we asked for clean towels on our 2nd day, we were told they didn’t have any available. The outside deck is cracked and looks like it is going to collapse. Not a clean safe environment at all. We came 5 hours away and had no idea we were going to be stuck with this for 5 days. Ooh… They offer free WiFi… There is no WiFi. We were told to connect to the Ramada inn

Location – that is it. If the outside look was all that as wrong with it i would go back. My best friend and I stayed here for two nights – $ 240 a night-I expected WAY more. The place is dark, smells of dirty water and mold. The staff – Jewel is the only jewel in there. She tries but it is too much for her alone. Check in is at 4PM – we showed up at 630 and the room was not ready. They asked for 45 minutes to get it ready – we went for a drive – came back and finally got our keys. We waited for the elevator – which is small, dark and rattles as well as smells like smoke ALLOVER! took like 5 minutes to go up to the 4th level. We get to our door – its punched in and sticks – but ok(the girl’s weekend getaway shine is still on strong and the attitude is hopeful). Walk in – pillows look slept in; sheets are stained; a dirty towel in the bathroom; no soap and shampoo; smudge glass door to the beach view; phone is broken; lamps are falling off of the wall mounts; it reeked of cigarette smoke – everything else was sold out so we had to stay here. My friend has a duvet – so we made our own bed on one of the beds and our first stop was Walgreens for lysol and clorox wipes and other disinfecting supplies. Location is fantastic – a fresh coat of pain. New duvets and curtains as well as change the carpets! This place has so much potential–

I gave it a 1 for location only thing good about the hotel. Who ever owns it is in only for the money. Does not care about service. Have not upgraded for Years. Very dirty, workers inexperance. Stayed 4 nights because we could not get any other reservation. Pictures on Internet site was touched up. Had to ask for towels 2 out of 4 days. Hair dryer did not work. Phone did not work. All door handles were loose could be broken into very easily. 1 $ 4:99 dollar plastic chair for a family of 4 on Balcony. Beds were OK We paid $ 200. A night for this! I do not recommend this hotel. The city of Virginia should close it down tell the owners cleans it up and spend some of their money their making on people. Wish I owned it, what a Jewel this place could be cause of the location. No internet site should recommend this Hotel.

Sure the place is outdated but the price was right, the service was friendly and proactive and the room was clean! Loved the view and the proximity to everything. Spent 3 days would have loved to stay longer! There are certainly plenty of hotels around but this spot suited us just fine!

Me & my family stayed at this place last week for 3 nights for our summer vacation. Inspite of their renovation claim, the lobby, elevator area were not so clean. It even stinks near elevator. The room was ok & blowing cold air. It was located a block from board walk. One morning I went down to breakfast area tried to warm up left over pizza but a cleaning lady COLDY said the area is closed due to cleaning. Where is the customer service? This place only have 1 microwave oven? I ended up just throwing left over ½ box of pizza in a trash can. I realize you get what you paid for. Next time I plan to spend more money to stay in a place where lobby, elevator are cleaner & the staffs are willing to make vacationers happy while they staying.
