Been here several times and it’s not too far from my office. Great dogs for when I’m craving it at lunch. Today left the office at 11:50. Finished my NY hot with onions and fries back at the office at 12:25. I was hungry and that definitely hit the spot. BTW most of the time difference was due to travel. My order was in my hands seconds after I got my receipt. Business hours currently: Monday thru Saturday 11AM-3PM Closed Sundays I hate when I crave certain things when it’s closed but gotta love that this family owned business gets R&R for their family.

The best hot dogs in Virginia Beach hands down. Owners are very nice and I don’t think you will find a cleaner place to eat. They care about the customers and the there business and it shows!

From Cycle World right across the street. Kevin’s dogs are the best. When we order it’s usually 4 to 5 orders and they always get it right. Love their hotdogs and North Carolina BBQ!

You will not find a better hot dog. Kevin knew a good dog when he grew up eating at jimmys. Kevin studied how jimmy made the perfect dog and now he brings it back. Though a no no to jimmy he does serve ketchup if you desire it. But honestly the best is all the way. Mustard onions and chili. You will not go wrong eating here anytime of the day. The service and food are top.

This place is really good. I go there a few times a week but I need to cut back. The hot dogs are delicious as well as the barbecue. Fries cooked just right and friendly service. They have banana pudding that is ok if you are ok with the instant jello pudding type banana pudding. Not really my thing because I like to cook mine from scratch using the recipe on the Vanilla Wafer box. However she sells out frequently.

Ordered two hot dogs and fries combo. Pretty good for chili dogs. Everything was made to order which made for a nice hot lunch but there was nothing exceptional about the experience. Customer service could have been better. But I may try again if I get a hankering for another dawg!

really fast service. I mean its a hot dog joint so it should be, but we did not go more than 3 minutes without being asked if we needed anything. The new York hot sausage… I think thats what it was called, is something to tell mom about, pretty solid. Overall you can get dogs, soda, fries, chips, or slaw. Chili on your dog… no problem, melted cheddar on your dog… no problem. Fast service and tasty freshly fried fries… done. I am just sad that this is the first time we came here. I will be back.

Nothing new to add really, just want to echo the sentiments of everyone else who loves the largely undiscovered secret pleasure that is the Dog House. Discovered Kevin’s by accident when trying to locate an old hot dog place I used to eat at in the 70’s and 80’s. One look at the old Kevin’s and I knew this was my kind of place. During a recent visit to the Beach I discovered they had moved and headed over to the new location. Don’t know how they did it, but it’s even better and they were already fantastic. There is simply no better treat than a pair of Kevin’s chili dogs with mustard and onions. His chili is homemade with just the right amount of kick, the dogs are in natural casings, the buns are soft and the combination is just perfect. I just can’t say enough good things about this place! Don’t know that I’d make the drive down from Richmond just to eat here, but to go to VB and NOT eat here would be a huge mistake. Huge! Do yourself a favor and go there for lunch. Your tummy will love you for it.

Great food, wonderful people. Menu could use a few more choices but it’s Kevin’s «DOG» House and they make good hot dogs and more.

To my amazement when I saw this lonely little establishment in the VB warehouse district not far from VB Town Center. The literally sticks out like a sore thumb along Cleveland Ave with it big bright sign. Being the good Unilocaler I am I did read the reviews and was astonished that this place has really good street cred. I love supporting small local eateries likes this and I was ready to give them a try. So on a rain soaked Virginia Beach day I was back in this area and remembered Kevin’s. It would be a very early lunch for me before 11:30AM. The drive up parking was pretty dead and they big window of the place revealed customers had yet to come in for their meal. Even on a rainy, blustery day I saw no debris in front of the business. When entering three women greeted me immediately. The dining room was decorated in music memorabilia on every wall. Album covers, posters and pretty much anything to do with music. As a matter of fact rock n’ roll was playing in the background. I darted in the lavatory prior to ordering. It was insane clean and looked like it was just painted too. There was TP, towels and soap to wash my hands, just the necessities… life is good. After coming out I saw on top of a wall that separated the restrooms and dining room a display of a dozen, or so Hot Wheel cars. So evidently this Kevin dude likes music and cars. Beneath the cars it was in need of a good dusting. However, the dining room was sick clean… I mean really really sparking clean!!! I set up at the bar and a nice young lady immediately got my drink order and we exchanged some small talk about me being a Kevin’s Dog House rookie. My drink was out in seconds. Drinks are served in Styrofoam which I would prefer if it were reserved for a to go. However, there clientele I assume take drinks out with them and thus the reason they do it. The menu is small, but I expected no less and was down with it. They severe of course hot dogs, sausage, bbq, fries and a few deserts. On my first visit it would be about trying out a hot dog and boy were there a lot of them on the grill in front of the Maestro himself Kevin. The kitchen area was completely exposed to customers at the bar, you could see that is was spic and span. I ordered up two coney dogs with cheese and fries. Kevin went right to work and was enjoying the music playing and movin and grovin to some Van Halen… hey this is my kinda a guy. It began to get a little busier and several patrons got take out orders. One guy pulled up beside me and got right to work talking to Kevin like they were kin. I assume this is a locals place and that makes sense to me. Kevin talked about getting his vintage Dodge Dart out of the garage from a complete restoration. Ahh, he is a car guy. thought so. It took less that five minutes for those good looking, great smelling dogs to be put in front of me with some golden brown fries. I already like the fact that the cheddar cheese was spread on top, unlike Famous Al’s who puts a slice on the bottom. I started with the fries, I love the look of these hulky taters. They were really tasty, nice and crispy and not over salted. Next, the chili dog when picking it up I could tell the difference of Kevin’s and Al’s. Kevins has a soft bun(Al’s is toasted) which was really scrumptious and the hot dog had a slight crunch. Temperature just right and I was loving me some dogs the way Kevin makes them. I ended up finding out one of the women was Kevin’s wife. They have now been at this location for just over one year and business is much better than previous one off Bonnie. all three women talked to me off and on as they went by, but not overbearing whatsoever. Just nice friendly service that I really appreciated. I would come back here anytime, I would recommend them for anyone who wants a great hot dog at a very reasonable price and enjoys a small locals feel establishment. Speaking of a reasonable price, hit them up on Saturday for there«Recession Saturday» hot dog for $ 1.90. Places like this are great little finds, so if you FIND yourself a little off the beaten track from Town Center in the VB warehouse district givem a try.

It’s neat. It’s clean. Service is fast AND polite. It’s incredibly inexpensive(chili snap dog, soup and tea for ~$ 6 with tax). It’s absolutely working class without any pretense, deceptively simple and well executed. Soups(Navy bean and Brunswick) are homemade as is the chili for the dogs. Navy bean was a bit bland(pinch of salt fixed it) and the chili has a nice kick of peppery spiciness. The snap dog does, in fact, snap. Thumbs up: service, courtesy, price, speed Cool features: Recession Saturdays(all dogs $ 1.90). Also, free butter mints at the register.

This was my first visit to Kevins. Not knowing any better I followed the line of people in front of me to the lady taking orders at the cash registered. I waited my turn, told her what I wanted, she told me the cost and handed the order to the guy at the grill and said«to go». I hand her my money and said, «it’s not to go». Well, I guess I really screwed up cuz she said I needed to take a seat and place my order from there. She said, «take this with you» and handed me the ticket she had already written up. So, I placed myself on a stool at the counter handed my order to the young lady, which confused her, and waited for my lunch. I found it odd that sauerkraut is an upcharge but chili is not. Also, there is a 25 cent charge for water, that is just not right especially since they don’t have any lemons. I got an ice tea and asked for lemon, nope. My beef dog with kraut on your average bun was just that, nothing special. I watched my fries come out of a frozen bag and dropped into the fryer basket, nothing special here either. I would have preferred cole slaw to fries but it’s only listed as a topper for the hot dogs, with an upcharge, of course. I finished my meal, closed and folded my newspaper and waited, and waited… no one came to collect my money. I knew how much i owed from the first lady so left enough money, to include a tip, on the counter and walked out.

I heard about this place opening up here down the road from my work this past week so I decided that it was a good day for hot dogs and headed on out to locate it. The address was wrong on the Unilocal!site here so I had to look it up on the net(I did update the address so it should be correct after the moderators approve it — the new addy is 5011 Cleveland Street). I arrived in a small diner type atmosphere about 1:00pm that was about 75% filled. They have both tables that seat four and multiple swivel seats ala bar seating up at the actual counter(see my pic). I chose to sit at the counter. They have three different types of hot dogs here: the hormel hot dog, the all-beef hot dog and the New York Sausage dog. I ordered all three thinking I’d take some home with me. I got the default topping, onions and chili and also added cheese to the hot dogs. I also asked for an order of fries(also with cheese). After some friendly banter, about 5 minutes worth, with several of the folks who worked there my fries came out first. They were excellent fries, very crisp and slightly soft inside. They really didn’t need any toppings as they were just that good. But the gooey cheese really made them freaking fantastic! See my picture… liquid gold! Then a couple of minutes later the hot dogs came out. One thing to note is that the New York Sausage dog is quite a bit bigger than a regular hot dog. I tried the all-beef hot dog first, it was incredible. Just the perfect amount of snap to it and the taste of the meat was incredible. It’s very very slightly spicy and just tastes so fresh. The bun was very soft, the onions were crisp and small squares, just how they should be and the chili added just enough tang and complimented the hot dog perfectly. The hormel hot dog was really good too but I liked the all-beef hot dog. I think the hormel is a bit more plain tasting and would probably be better suited for kids or someone who is used to more traditional hot dogs. The last to get sampled was the New York Sausage Dog and it was incredibly good. It has just the right amount of spice to it. I really enjoyed the décor of the place, they have classic rock posters all over the place, many pictures of Elvis(I’m a huge Elvis fan) and it really makes the place feel unique. No Pink Floyd though unfortunately! But the best thing here is you really get taken care of by the staff. They are not only helpful in refilling your drink, making sure you have everything you need but they are great conversationalists and really make you feel welcome. That can’t be stated enough in this day and age where customers don’t feel appreciated a lot of the time, here they go the extra mile to really make your lunch enjoyable. I ended up eating all THREE hot dogs and the fries. Yes that’s right, they were just that good that I couldn’t help myself. Right when I was getting to leave a guy who works there said I just had to try the banana pudding. I told him I was stuffed and couldn’t eat another bite so he suggested I get it to go. I told him to go ahead and put it on my bill along with a sloppy joe. The lady who makes the sloppy joe asked me if I’d like the ingredients separated so it would be easier to put together and heat up later. This is what I mean about great customer service. I would never even have thought of that! So I got the sloppy joe and banana pudding to go for my Friday evening dinner. My total bill was $ 14.xx and I gave them a $ 20 and told them to keep the change for the terrific service they provided. I just got home and before I wrote this review I tried the banana pudding, WOW, the guy was right, this stuff is fantastic. Reminds me of the banana pudding that my grandma used to make, vanilla wafers and all! Be sure to check out my picture of it as well. If you get too full be sure to get the banana pudding to go, you won’t regret it! This place has all of the ingredients of what it takes to make a successful restaurant: very friendly and helpful staff, an interesting and unique décor, a simple to understand menu, great prices and most importantly: DELICIOUSFOOD!!!
