22nd Street Raw Bar and Grill

Visiting this bar after a horrendous experience at a different local restaurant, I honestly wasn’t expecting too much. My fiancé and I were visiting over the weekend of our wedding in 2012. The beer specials were spectacular in November, which was an unexpected surprise. Being a Steelers bar, that was even a better surprise.
I was impressed at how clean the kitchen was. The staff was spectacular and very friendly.
We ended up spending our wedding night drinking at this bar. The staff was awesome, comping us a few shots of some spectacular liquors.
Overall, it seemed like a more locals type bar that welcomed us with open arms. When we make the multiple hour travel to Virginia Beach, I’m sure we will visit again.

Okay, looking for a decent place to eat and came here with 3 other people, first mistake. Second mistake out of Miller lite. Followed by our server, a medium sized blonde rolling up in FLIP FLOPS… You mean to tell me that I have to stare at your unmanicured sausage feet while waiting for my beer and my food? We ordered our food, and watched our waitress walk outside and begin giving a black lab a copious amount of smooches and petting it vigorously. Not only are your crusty toes an issue, now I have to worry about my clam strips being garnished with dog slobber and fur. If that wasn’t enough I get to watch my server knock back a shot with a guest and light up a cigarette on the patio… I wish I was that cool. The only redeeming factor is the bartender who initially tried to charge us for our barely touched drinks when he found out our server was banging them back like a pro let us leave without an issue… I would not return… ever.

Super cute spot for a quick, pleasant lunch. The menu is small, but the quality of the food is great. I had a big house salad with seared ahi tuna on top and everything was fresher and more flavorful than I would have expected — it is clear they care about their ingredients here.
I also want to give them points for friendly and accomodating staff. Although I have only been here once, my waitress was fantastic. We were the only table seated on the patio and she made an effort to check on us regularly, bring refills without being asked, and generally ensure we had everything we needed (on top of being really nice). I had a great experience and I would definitely stop in again when I’m cruising the boardwalk.

It’s disappointing that I did not discover this place sooner. It’s a quaint place a little back from the oceanfront, but well worth checking out.
The atmosphere was casual and beachy feeling, while still seeming very clean. There was a variety of seating options, bar seating, tables with stools, tables and chairs, as well as out door seating.
The service was great! The hostess was pleasant and our server was very attentive and friendly. I ordered raw oysters and steamed shrimp. The oysters were outstanding! Very fresh! And the shrimp were great as well. The menu had more variety than I anticipated, which was a nice surprise.
There was also a musician that was playing that night. He was outstanding (wish I could recall his name). Played both originals and cover songs. Really added to the beach feel and made the experience more relaxing.
I was surprised the place wasn’t busier, but appreciated the space and being able to enjoy the musician with a small crowd.
I enjoyed this place so much that I left to walk around for awhile and came back for a drink before returning home. The place stays open late and serves food until 1am! And the musician played through the night as well. Even late at night the service was stellar! The valet guy was also very friendly! Thanks for a great night! Look forward to returning.
I’ve overlooked this place many times… now I feel like I’ve discovered a hidden treasure!

Yummy. Grilled chicken sandwiches, ceasar salad. Simple but flavorful at a good price

Food was just OK. Waited over 1 ½ hours to eat. If you’re looking to drink it’s probably ok but eat somewhere else…

I really wanted to go to a raw bar on the boardwalk and stumbled upon this place. Looking for clam strips and fish/​chips type place and this place seemed to fit those characteristics!
We sat outside and yes, people were smoking outside in the eating area which was annoying. But I’m not judging them on that. Their menu is limited, but they did have what we came for… basket of mmm mmm clam strips/​fries and calamari (sorry no fish and chips). You really can’t mess up clam strips and fries, but my basket was 80% fries and 15% breading and 5% clams. Ugh. Calamari was very salty. Maybe my bar (no pun intended!) was too high?
We weren’t given any utensils and we had to ask twice for napkins. They gave us the bill very quickly when we asked for it…

What a disappointment. As I slid into the booth I felt something jab my left butt cheek. Reached back and discovered a hunk of glass stuck in my ass. Pulled it out and ran to the bathroom to clean up the blood. We were a group of 7 so we took up 2 booths near the restrooms. One staff for bar and table service so it was rough. This is our annual winter stop and we were really looking forward to the seafood. Another disappointment. Crablegs were dry and tasted like rubber. Drink prices were good. Weird local activity made us very uncomfortable. Males and females going into the ladies room together was a bit suspicious. Needless to say we will find a new gathering spot for our next winter visit to Virginia Beach. This was our 3^rd annual visit and I guess 2 out of 3 ain’t bad… but still. Glass?

we were looking for somewhere to stop and have a quick delicious dinner; completely unimpressed with abbey road’s menu we left and walked across the street to 22^nd street raw bar and despite the fact that they didnt have a cheese steak sandwich on the menu they made one anyway, and their surf burger (crab cake laid on top of a huge ground beef patty) was delicious! staff was beyond friendly! $ 2 domestics not sure if it was just for happy hour or all the time we went around 9pm

We drove into Virginia Beach for a couple of hours and found this gem. Great prices, good drinks and definiately ask for Amber as a server, she is absolutely terrific.
The Raw oysters were terrific and less than $ 1. I would definiately go again!!!
