Not a substitute for New York Pizza, down the street on Hardy Rd. The ONLY thing they have on NYP is being open Sunday. Their pizzas are more expensive and the toppings skimpier, and substituting ingredients on the special will cost you the price of additional toppings(something NYP doesn’t do – substitute away). They taste ok, but just not worth it. If it’s Sunday. I might forgive you. Otherwise, Franks needs to send a spy down the street to New York Pizza on any night, see the full restaurant, taste the competition, and react. If it’s Sunday and we are craving pizza, we will just wait a day. Sorry, Franks. Your product is not worth the price.

Great place for a nice local pizza, or sub. Crust was med thick chewy, «a good thing», they do a deep dish style & calzones also. Family owned, open every day. We had a house salad too. Salad was a good size basic but fine. Service was quick and pleasant for a late Sun lunch time after a kids soccer game at the near-by high school(Wm. Byrd). They do serve beer, wine since that goes w/pizza I’m told. ;) soft drinks & ice tea w/refills. Bathrooms were clean and serviceable. Plenty of parking on the side. There is a neat little 2nd hand shop /antique store next door to check out. Also, near by is an entrance of the Blue Ridge parkway just a mile or 2 east that has lots of great out looks. One has a small ~ 2 mi hiking side trail and view of the valley & Roanoke. We’d go back.

Staff very unfriendly. They refused a special order to simply change a marina sauce for an alfredo sauce on pasta. What’s up with that??? Never had this problem at the other Frank’s locations. Oh well, Guess I’ll stick with Mama Maria’s in Salem.
