As a previous post said, «This is a hidden gem» We stopped today with my wife and daughter. The food was awesome. My daughter and I ordered the Chimichangas, and the wife ordered enchiladas. Unilocal world, this was the best Chimi I have had in a long time. Stop in you will not be dissatisfied. I will be back.

The food is really good, and the service is even better. We will definitely go here again.

Unilocalers did not let me down with recommendations for this gem! The portion sizes are huge – so bring an appetite or prepare for leftovers – and prices are very reasonable too.
I followed another reviewer’s recommendation of the steak burrito and wasn’t disappointed. It was huge, flavorful, and the last third reheated well for dinner. My husband had the chicken and peppers that he agreed was also very good – and provided leftovers as well. As far as drinks went, our mojito’s were large, and very refreshing. This meal was tastefully done overall. I will be returning when I’m in the mood for some authentic Mexican food in the future.

Shhhh… I would try to keep this place a secret if it were closer to home. GREAT food for both my wife and I as well as friendly and attentive service.
Don’t be fooled by the store front exterior, the interior is cute.

their food never disappoints. always consistent. I usually get the steak taco dinner or carne asada but I also like their cocktail shrimp. salsas are homemade and very good. I always get it to-​go. if you call ahead, takes about 10 – 15 minutes. best authentic Mexican in Vernon Hills.

Smaller and better alternative to Tacos de Norte. Food was good and authentic. Prices were reasonable. Staff was really friendly.

10 min from my home, Mexican, super professional but friendly and accommodating general manager,. and absolutely lovely and delicious olive oil grilled Vegetables w fire salsa, & guacamole! This VEGAN Girl is super pleased. And guess what!?- my new fav manager guy, Andress, let me go home with the black Piggy molcajete!
Turns into a night club or bar etc w dj /​karaōke on weekends after dinner.- but my Partner and I didn’t stay. Just saying.
Low key, strip mall kinda place. But nice if in the mood for casual yet delicious Mexican (Mexican Mexican).

Love this place! Good prices, plenty of menu items to choose from. Every thing we’ve ordered from here has been good. Love the margaritas here. The free soup is great too. So glad we found this place. Definitely try if you’re looking for Mexican good food.

Great food and friendly service. Guac has a nice kick to it. The mole sauce was delicious, one of us enjoyed his enormous burrito. Bar drinks were reasonably priced with tasty sangria served in a large goblet. The flan was the only weak spot, in my opinion. They are starting karaōke on the weekends and serve breakfast ALL DAY, even for dinner!

Unbelievably good.
From the friendly waitress to the delicious food, this place is a gem. They remodeled since the last time we were there and both sides of the restaurant look great. They start you off with complimentary soup, which was delicious.
My dad got the paella and I got the standard enchiladas verdes. Both were phenomenal.

Real Mexican food that Mexicans actually eat. They bring you soup the minute you sit down and it’s tasty. It’s worth getting chips and guacamole they make it fresh. You get two refills and the third they will charge you but they do remind you of that. They have Karaōke and open late Friday and Saturday night.

The tortilla soup was refreshing. The food itself was ok. I had better Mexican dishes for faster service. I don’t like that the Micheladas
Were made and brought to the table without a beer to accommodate. I visited this place on the decent reviews but nothing fancy to make me want to return.

SO GOOD!!! I’ve been on a taco kick lately. Based on reviews I came here.
I was served the tortilla soup before I was even asked what I wanted to drink! And it was delicious! Had a margarita on the rocks, no salt and it was perfect. I had the 3 chicken taco dinner. The corn tortillas were so fresh and soft. The chicken was tender and well seasoned. The two salsa style sauces that were served with the tacos were tasty as well. And there was a spicy mayo type sauce that was really good.
Service was quick and friendly.
I will be back next time I’m in town.

Two times in one week. One eat in lunch and one take out. I had the fish taco dinner both times and was very impressed. I tried chicken enchiladas and chicken was very flavorful and moist unlike a lot of places. Good service and the souop rather than chips is a nice touch.
Some of the seafood specials looked great and will have to try them.

This little gem is hidden off 45 in a small strip mall, I almost drove part it. My friend and I chose to meet here based on the stellar reviews on Unilocal.We started with the guacamole appetizer and it was huge– a meal in itself! I’m glad we ordered the guacamole, because we were not big fans of the salsas provided.
We both ordered pomegranate margaritas (mine with a salt rim… mmmm). We asked for them blended, but it was more like crushed ice. Next time I will order it on the rocks. The margaritas themselves were good and strong.
We both ordered steak style meals. My friend ordered the steak fajitas and I ordered steak with peppers and cheese. Bön dishes were huge portions and very flavorful. The one co plaint was that the meat was tough and fatty at parts. But, at the super cheap prices, I guess that is to be expected.
Our waiter was super friendly and the staff was all fantastic during our visit. I will definitely be back to try out some other items on the menu.

I guess I expected this place to be better, portion and taste wise. A three taco dinner was $ 7.99 a lot higher than the average $ 5.99 I pay elsewhere for a taco dinner. Also the free tortilla soup that is usually complimentary was $ 3.99 mind you I got it to go. And to my surprise it’s a mixture of chicken, tortilla strips with soupy beans?! Yes pinto beans?! Yuck. I couldn’t even finish it. The taco meal in itself was okay minus the beans being a bit bland. Definitely will not be going out of my way to be a patron again with so many other great Mexican places.

I live right down the street from this place, just found it today and wow am I happy.
I was surprised to see the place as empty as it was after reading all the good reviews it had. Fortunately for my party, that made the server super attentive. She was very helpful with recommending menu items.
When we were served the chicken tortilla soup I knew this place was gold. The simplistic ingredients, yet extraordinary flavor, were a great start to the meal. You could tell all the ingredients were fresh and that it was made in house. The fresh salsa that followed was also a pleasant surprise.
My friend got the steak burrito which was HUGE and absolutely delicious. He was starving and couldn’t barely finish half. I got two tacos, al pastor and chorizo. They were good, but not amazing. The chorizo seemed a bit overcooked, to the point where it was crispy.
Nevertheless, I will give this place another chance. Everything but my chorizo taco pleased me. Another reason I’m DEFINITELY coming back is because the two meals together only cost 13 bucks!!! Great deal

Had nachos and a shrimp empanadas. Everything is super fresh they made the tortillas fresh. Came out nice and warm had vegetarian nachos. I would definitely come back and try other items on the menu.. Cute clean tasty food
