Joseph’s Cleaners

I have been a customer of this family owned business for nearly 20 years. Owners Paul and Sylvia are friendly and take the time to get to know their customers. What big corporate giant does that any more? Every once in a while, a small accident on my part has needed repair attention which they have assisted me with in a kind «don’t worry about it, we will take care of it» manner. A few years ago, Joseph’s became a pick-​up/​drop off service which has been a great time saver. My clothes are in good hands with Joseph’s Cleaners.

I have had the worst luck in trying to find a competent (I’ve given up on quality) dry cleaner since moving to Illinois. Joseph’s «Cleaner» has once again proven that no one calling themselves a dry cleaner has a) common sense or b) the ability to not ruin clothes. I dropped off a beautiful, silk cocktail dress on a Tuesday that should have been ready the following Thursday. I was away that Thursday so said it could wait until the following Tuesday; giving them 4.5 more days than they even needed to complete the job. The next Tuesday rolls around and at 11:10 I receive a call saying that they just started testing the dress and they can’t clean it. Keep in mind, the dress was supposed to be ready at 11:30. WHY DID YOU ONLY START WORKING ON THE DRESS 20 MINUTES BEFORE IT SHOULD BE DONE WHEN YOU’VE HAD A WEEK!!! I could have taken it elsewhere in the meantime and actually had the job done.
The dress is brought by my office (its a company that comes to my office each Tues/​Thurs as a service to my company’s employees) at 2PM STUFFED INTO A PLASTIC NEWSPAPER BAG!!! I had dropped the dress off on a hanger in a dress bag. He then takes the dress out to show me where he took the color off the beading (thanks, that’s great) and then ROLLS IT UP OVER HIS ARM AND STUFFS IT BACK IN THE BAG!!! Had I not been completely in shock over what I was seeing, I would have thrown the cup of tea I was holding in his face.
What dry cleaner treats a customer’s clothes like that in their face? And what dry cleaner CAN’T CLEAN A SILK DRESS!!!
Now I have an event on Thursday and that’s not enough time to get it properly cleaned. Had this completely incompetent business owner contacted me within a reasonable amount of time, I could have taken it elsewhere.
Do NOT go to this place! Dry Cleaners are a dime a dozen — this place does not deserve your business.
