I can’t believe I haven’t put a review here yet. Maybe I’m selfish and don’t want to share the best find of the area. But I would be remiss if I couldn’t give 5* to my favorite. The servers are stellar. Mike and Gus are favorites. Anna is fantastic and the owner, Danny, is wonderful and always willing to sample the best new find. Call in your reservations and they are most accommodating. The other jerk that had an issue clearly has a problem with picking up the phone to talk to these wonderful people. Now let’s talk about food… YUM. I guess I can’t speak about every item on the menu as I have 2 favorites(Salmon and chopped salad) I alternate between. The hubby loves shrimp and scallop special and this is the ONLY place EVER he will eat salmon. Ok wine… red lover here. Try the JAX or Griffin, you won’t be disappointed. And price point is on. LOVE it here and you should try it. Strip mall setting aside, it’s our favorite now that Danny took over.

I am sorry for the customer service of this resturant. This place came highly recommended but unfortunately I made a reservation online which was confirmed and the manager called me back to let me know the reservation is not good and we can’t come in. I was rather upset that I was denied after it was confirmed. The manager told me that he could try to get me in at 9pm and I said that wouldn’t work. He told me to call Unilocal and I said hay was ridiculous. I said this was not fair and he told me that I am not welcome at his resturant and he knows who I am. If this is the service I wouldn’t recommend anyone going here.

My husband and I ate here last night for date night. Can I just say, I haven’t enjoyed restaurant food to this degree in over 7 years! We took our time, enjoyed every bite, sampled new foods, and I woke up this morning still content from the experience. Our server, Mike, was awesome. He knew his red wines very well and let us sample over 8 different wines based on what we each said our favorites were. He even brought us some flourless chocolate cake and a special glass of port from the O’Shaunassey Irish family at the end of dinner. We began with a super flight of red wines, from the reserve collection, in order to figure out which bottle we wanted to purchase. We ended up buying a Malbec that was fabulous. Then we had a cheese flight with a Spanish Blue cheese, a mustard seed infused gouda, and an Iowa sharp white cheddar. Wow. Just wow. We purchased the cheddar at Mariano’s today. The flight comes with walnuts, apple slices, honey, jam, red grapes, and some bread and we were just in heaven. Then I ordered the special appetizer of the day which was 3GIGANTIC shrimp with a very zesty cocktail sauce. It was cooked perfectly. I’m so sick of overcooked shrimp that I forgot how good it could be. Delish. And for our big entrée my husband ordered the 16oz Master Cut bone-in ribeye with mashed potatoes and seasonal sautéed bok choy. My first time ever having bok choy and it was awesome! The meat was flavored with just some simple garlic and butter, and it melted on your tongue. I ordered the black bean quesadilla with a corn relish and romaine leaves and added brisket to it. Holy huge. I took ¾ of it home with me for later. Best quesadilla ever. There was a very chill acoustic guitar playing the whole time and we enjoyed his music as well. This was really the best date we’ve had food-wise in 7 years or so. A must visit spot hidden away.

The strip mall location isn’t ideal, but place is great for Vernon hills. I’ve been 4 times in the last yr since moving to the area, and each time, the wait staff has been super friendly and helpful with the tastings. And unlike many other places that offer up so many tastes, I’ve never felt pressured to buy any of the bottles — which I have not. And they have great weekly wine deals The flatbreads are yummy, the charcuterie varietal, and the wine delicious. One con would be the live music(which we love) tends to close up shop early ~9ish. Prices are on the higher side, but makes sense given they don’t have much competition in their arena in the area.

Atmosphere: went here for a weeknight team dinner from work. It was dead. I think there may have been one or max 2 people at the bar. We had a group of 10 people. The server was friendly but had an issue of accommodating a chair on the end of the table due to a ‘fire hazard’. I totally understand that if the place was at capacity, but unfortunately we were the only ones there. I think we also got a couple of other comments that made us go ‘really?’ Food: the food wasn’t as good as I was expecting. I ordered a veggie flatbread, although it was yummy with the flavors, it was too cheesy! I usually love cheese, but this tasted more of cheese than the veggies it was supposed to be loaded with. The food was definitely better than the service this particular night!
