I drive(or walk) by virtually everyday of the week and have such mixed feelings for the state of this park that’s just six blocks from home. On the one hand, there can never be too many parks covering a full city block for the citizens to enjoy, especially in a downtown-close location. On the other hand, it’s sad and disconcerting that so many down-on-their-luck or homeless people effectively reside in this park for much of the day, sometimes overnight. As I pass by early on work days, it’s not uncommon to see the Ventura Police addressing situations, presumably related to overnight vagrancy issues, but I wouldn’t know for sure. I have been fortunate enough that I can help out in a small way by dropping off excess clothing, including winter-weight coats, plus jeans & sweatshirts that I no longer fit thanks to Unilocal-related weight gain. I’m sure there’s other Unilocalers in the same weight-challenged state(you know who you are), so help a brother(or sister) out — they’ll appreciate it.
